1. Hank begins the song telling us he was picked up by a semi driver. It begins..."I was toting my pack along the dusty __________road When along came a semi driver with a high and canvas covered load" Can you name the road?

Answer: Winnemucca

Winnemucca is the county seat of Humboldt County, Nevada. The song, "I Been Everywhere," was written in 1959 by Geoff Mack. It was offered to Hank Snow in 1962 and after some editing to include towns in North America it hit the country chart's number one slot making it the sixth single to reach number one status. Other number one country chart toppers for Snow include:
'I'm Moving On'
'The Golden Rocket'
'I Don't Hurt Anymor'e
'Let Me Go, Lover' and
'Hello Love'.
2. After the chorus Hank begins to list the places he has been, "I been to Reno, Chicago, Fargo, Minnesota, Buffalo, Toronto, Winslow, Sarasota, ___________, Tulsa, Ottawa, Oklahoma, Tampa..."

Answer: Wichita

In the first list of cities he names 23 places he has been. Throughout the song over 90 cities and towns are mentioned. Mack used a North America Atlas to get a good selection of towns and cities.
3. Continuing..."Panama, Mattawa, La Paloma, Bangor, Baltimore, Salvador, Amarillo, Tocopilla, Barranquilla, and Padilla..." Do you know the location of Barranquilla?

Answer: Colombia

Barranquilla is located in northern Colombia by the Caribbean Sea. The original version included several cities outside of North American, in editing Mack opted not to change this particular location.
4. Hank ends each verse with a phrase other than a city; in the first verse of cities he sings, "... Padilla, I'm a ___________."

Geoff Mack wrote the song which included mostly cities in Australia. Hank Snow was offered the song in 1962 but asked that the cities to be changed to include cities and towns in North America, Mack complied but did add a few in Central and South America. The rhyming phrases at the end of the verse such as "for Pete's sake," were added by Snow to bring more appeal to the song.
One of FunTrivia's avid fans explained, "Lucky Starr did the Australian version, which predated Hank Snow's release by a few months."
