Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "I'm flying high, like the wind. Reaching the impossible, I'll never doubt again."

Answer: Will Young

These lyrics are taken from UK Pop Idol winner Will Young's massive number one single "Anything Is Possible/Evergreen". It sold 1.78 million copies and is the the fastest-selling UK debut single of all time. Such a high amount of sales meant that this single went TRIPLE PLATINUM. This was the only single of that year to achive this status.
2. "When your love is pouring like the rain, I close my eyes and it's gone again."

Answer: Daniel Bedingfield

Taken from his debut number one "Gotta Get Thru This". Daniel Bedingfield's follow up single "James Dean" only hit number four in the UK.
3. "Come on baby I'm tired of talking. Grab your coat and let's start walking."

Answer: Elvis Presley

This was the JXL remix of "A Little Less Conversation". It spent four weeks at the top of the UK charts and was Elvis' 18th number one in the UK.
4. "Feeling blue, when I'm trying to forget the feeling that I miss you."

Answer: Darius Danesh

Taken from his single "Colourblind". He finished third in the UK "Pop Idol", got a recording contract, released "Colourblind", and hit number one for two weeks!
5. "Am I in too deep? Have I lost my mind? I don't care, you're here tonight."

Answer: Enrique Inglesias

Taken from "Hero", the third biggest seller in the UK in 2002. It spent four weeks at the top spot in the UK, and his album "Escape" was the third best seller of 2002.
6. "It's sad, so sad (so sad). It's a sad, sad situation. And it's getting more and more absurd."

Answer: Blue

Taken from their duet with Elton John, "Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word". It only spent one week at number one, but it was their fourth number one and Elton John's fifth in the UK.
7. "And time goes by, so slowly, and time can do, so much, are you, still mine?"

Answer: Gareth Gates

Taken from his version of "Unchained Melody". Gareth's debut album, "What My Heart Wants To Say", only got into the album chart at number two, being beaten by David Gray's album "A New Day At Midnight".
8. "His palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy, there's vomit on his sweater already, mom's spaghetti."

Answer: Eminem

Taken from "Lose Yourself". This was Eminem's second number one of 2002 in the UK. His first of the year was "Without Me". "Without Me" was knocked off of the number 1 spot by UK "Pop Idol" champion Will Young and his version of "Light My Fire", and "Lose Yourself" was knocked off by Blue and Elton John's duet, "Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word".
9. "Took for granted everything we had as if I'd find someone who's just like you."

Answer: Westlife

Taken from "World Of Our Own". This was Westlife's tenth number one, giving them the same amount of UK number ones as Madonna. They then got an eleventh UK number one, making them the music act with the fourth most UK number ones.
10. "I never know what the future brings, but I know you are here with me now. We'll make it through and I hope you are the one I share my life with."

Answer: Daniel Bedingfield

Taken from "If You're Not The One". This was the single that had what it took to knock Christina Aguilera off of number one, which is quite an achivement, since she kept UK "Pop Idol" winner Will Young off the top spot, and he couldn't stop getting number ones! ("Anything Is Possible/Evergreen", "Light My Fire", "The Long And Winding Road", and his album "From Now On".)
11. "When you look at me tell me what do you see, this is what you get it is the way I am."

Answer: Holly Valance

12. "I haven't moved from the spot where you left me, must be a bad trip. All of the other pills, they were different. Maybe I should get some help."

Answer: Pink

Taken from "Just Like A Pill". Pink's album, "Mizunderstood", was the second bestselling album of 2002 in the UK, beaten only by Robbie William's "Escapology".
13. "The wild and windy night, that the rain washed away, has left a pool of tears, crying for the day, why leave me standing here, let me know the way."

Answer: Will Young and Gareth Gates

Taken from their version of "The Long And Winding Road". It seems that it was almost obvious this would get to number one, since Will won the UK "Pop Idol" and Gareth came in second, and both already had two number ones each under their belt. However, Will's next single, "You And I", only got in at number 2, while Gareth's next single, "What My Heart Wants To Say", only hit number 5.
14. "Disco dancing with the lights down low. Beats are pumping on my stereo. Neighbour's banging on the bathroom wall."

Answer: Girls Aloud

Taken from the Christmas number one 2002 in the UK, "Sound Of The Underground". With this single they beat their rivals from "Popstars", The Rivals One True Voice, whose single was a cover of the Bee Gees' song "Sacred Trust".
15. "The time to hesitate is through, there's no time to wallow in the mire. If I was to say to you, we couldn't get much higher."

Answer: Will Young

Taken from his second number one, a cover of "Light My Fire". A lot of people have said his number two song, "You And I", was the first one he did not to be a cover, but the double A-side of his first single "Evergreen", called "Anything Is Possible", wasn't a cover.
16. "And you're so innocent, please don't take this wrong cos it's a compliment. I just wanna get with your flow. You've gotta learn to let go."

Answer: Liberty X

Taken from "Just A Little". "Popstars" runners-up Liberty X were forced to change their name to Liberty X from Liberty, as it was revealed that there was an 1980's band called Liberty.
17. "There's a light, that shines on. Shines on me, and it keeps me warm. It gimme peace, I must say. I can't sleep, cos the world won't wait."

Answer: Oasis

Taken from "The Hindu Times". This was the only Oasis single to top the UK charts in 2002, despite follow-up singles "Stop Crying Your Heart Out", and "Little By Little", which both hit number two. "Stop Crying Your Heart Out" was kept off the top spot by the JXL remix of Elvis Presley's "A Little Less Conversation", and "Little By Little" was kept off by the Will Young and Gareth Gates duet, "The Long And Winding Road", originally done by The Beatles.
18. "But oh, no, no, she got a man and a son oh-oh, but that's okay. 'Cuz I wait for my cue and just listen, play my position."

Answer: Nelly

Taken from his duet with Destiny's Child singer Kelly Rowland, "Dilemma". This song spent ages on top of the US charts, got knocked off by Kelly Clarkson, the winner of "American Idol", then knocked her off! It only spent two weeks on top of the UK charts.
19. "She's lost in peaceful dreams, so I turn out the light and lay there in the dark."
