Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Neil Young's album "Live at Massey Hall" was released in March 2007. Where was this live album recorded?

Answer: Toronto, Canada

He recorded this album in Toronto in 1971. Neil Young was also born in Toronto.
2. Which is not a Neil Young album?

Answer: Off The Ground

"Off the Ground" is a Paul McCartney album. I personally find that "Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere", and "After the Goldrush" are Neil's best albums.
3. Neil Young wrote a song for the movie "Philadelphia" and won a Grammy for best movie song.

Answer: False

Neil Young did write a song called "Philadelphia" for the movie of the same name but did not win a Grammy. Bruce Springsteen won a Grammy with the song "Streets of Philadelphia" for the same movie. "Streets of Philadelphia" was also named song of the year in 1993. But I prefer Neil Young's "Philadelphia", it's a beautiful song with piano and nice lyrics.
4. In what song can we hear "It's a wonder tall trees ain't laying down"?

Answer: Comes A Time

You can hear that song on the album "Live Rust".
5. In what song can we hear "I was thinking about what a friend had said, I was hoping it was a lie"?

Answer: After the Gold Rush

This song was on the album "After the Goldrush". I really don't understand this song but it has really beautiful and has nice French horn.
6. Neil Young's "Old Man" is about the man who lived on the ranch he bought.

Answer: True

He talks about the old man who was living in the ranch before him, each time he's about to sing this song live.
7. At Woodstock, when CSNY sang the song "Suite: Judy Blue Eyes" Neil Young played the guitar and did back vocals on the song.

Answer: False

Neil Young performed with CSNY at Woodstock but didn't play on "Suite: Judy Blue Eyes".
8. Who did the backup vocals on "Heart of Gold"?

Answer: James Taylor and Linda Ronstadt

James Taylor and Linda Ronstadt were good friends of Neil Young.
9. In what song can you hear "Yellow to yellow in the light"?

Answer: The Painter

You can find this song on the album "Prairie Wind".
10. What are the three Neil Young songs you can find on the Rolling Stones Magazine list of the 500 greatest songs ever?

Answer: "Rockin' In the Free World" , "Heart of Gold" and "Cortez the Killer"

"Rockin' In the Free World" at #214
"Heart of Gold" at #297
"Cortez the Killer" at #321
Just to show how Neil Young is underrated! Many songs were forgotten in the list; too many, in my book.
