In 1973 the quartet attempted to represent Sweden in that year's Eurovision Song Contest with 'Ring Ring' under the name of Bjorn, Benny, Anna and Frida. Following the contest 'Ring Ring' was released throughout Europe and became a hit in many countries. They then changed their name to ABBA, and in 1974 they won Eurovision with 'Waterloo'.

In 1987 Siobhan Fahey left Banarama and married Dave Stewart from the Eurythmics. She formed Shakespears Sister with Marcella Detroit, who was never a member of Banarama.
