Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Founder of Cable News Network (CNN).

Answer: Ted Turner

When CNN launched in 1980, it was the first ever TV channel to provide 24 hour news coverage as well as the first all news channel in USA. The channel's coverage of major events such as presidential elections, the 9/11 attacks, the Gulf War of 1991 and the Challenger space shuttle disaster of 1986 have made it a world leader in up to the minute news coverage.
2. IBF boxing heavyweight champion for 64 days in 1987.

Answer: Tony Tucker

Tucker was a talented amateur boxer, with a record of 115 wins from 121 fights, when in 1980, a flight he was scheduled to be on, but missed as he was receiving treatment for an injury, crashed near Warsaw, killing all passengers and crew.
Tucker believed that this was a sign from God, that God had spared him as He wanted him to become heavyweight champion of the world, and so turned professional.
In 1987, Tucker fought Buster Douglas for the vacant IBF title, wining by TKO (technical knock out) in the tenth round, but in his first defence of the title just 64 days later, he lost by unanimous decision to WBA and WBC champion, Mike Tyson, allowing Tyson to unify the titles.
Tucker also fought for the WBC title in 1993, the WBA title in 1995 and the WBO title in 1997, but lost all three bouts to Lennox Lewis, Bruce Seldon and Herbie Hide respectively.
3. Documentary filmmaker killed by a bear in Katmai National Park, Alaska.

Answer: Timothy Treadwell

Timothy "Grizzly Man" Treadwell was a bear enthusiast, who according to National Park Service, broke almost every safety rule regarding bear interactions. For 13 years, he spent each summer camped among known grizzly bear habitats at Katmai National Park in Alaska and felt he had built a relationship with the animals, as documented in his book, "Among Grizzlies: Living with Wild Bears in Alaska". (1997). That relationship ended in 2003, when Treadwell and his girlfriend, Amie Huguenard were killed and partially eaten by a male grizzly.

This was the first case of a human being killed by a grizzly in Katmai Park's 85 year history.
4. Director of movies "The Help" (2011) and "The Girl on the Train" (2016).

Answer: Tate Taylor

Apart from the movies mentioned in the question, Taylor has also directed the James Brown biopic, "Get On Up" (2014) and the horror thriller "Ma" (2019). His talents seem to bring out the best in actors appearing in his movies, as Octavia Spencer won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her role in "The Help" (2011), while Viola Davis and Jessica Chastain also received Oscar nominations. For her role in "The Girl on the Train" (2016), Emily Blunt received both BAFTA and SAG nominations, while Octavia Spencer received wide praise for her performance in holding some of the more unusual plot twists of "Ma" together with aplomb.
5. Goaltender for the Boston Bruins of National Hockey League (NHL) from 2005-2012.

Answer: Tim Thomas

Thomas was instrumental in the Bruins' 2011 Stanley Cup win, as he posted a .940 save percentage through the series.
When the Bruins triumphed by a score of 4-3 over the Vancouver Canucks, Thomas became the first goaltender to win the Stanley Cup, Vezina trophy for best goaltender, and Conn Smythe trophy for the most valuable play off player in the same season since Bernie Parent did it while with the Philadelphia Flyers in the 1974-75 season.
6. Scottish civil engineer known as "The Colossus of Roads".

Answer: Thomas Telford

Telford was a master civil engineer, able to design roads and canals as well as associated infrastructure such as tunnels, bridges and harbours.
Possibly his most photographed construction is the Menai Suspension Bridge, which links the island of Anglesey with mainland Wales, and was at the time of its completion in 1826, the world's longest suspension bridge at 580 feet (180 metres).
7. Actor that played Candyman in the horror trilogy of the same name (1992-99).

Answer: Tony Todd

Todd's list of film and TV appearances is most impressive, but he always seems to be under the radar, becoming one of those "guy that was in that show" type of actors.
In addition to playing Candyman, he has also appeared in "Platoon" (1986), "Night of the Living Dead" (1990), "Star Trek: The Next Generation" (1990-91) and the "Final Destination" franchise (2000-2011) as well as countless horror and slasher genre movies.
8. Former National Football League (NFL) running back for the Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins.

Answer: Thurman Thomas

Thomas spent just a single season with the Dolphins and it is for his 11 years with the Bills that he is most remembered.
During that time he was a part of the Bills team that reached four consecutive Super Bowls, losing all four to New York Giants in 1990, Washington Redskins in 1991 and Dallas Cowboys in 1992 and 1993.
In recognition of his contribution to the organisation, his jersey number, 34 was retired by the Bills in 2018 and in 2007 he was inducted to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
9. Actress, played the Yellow Ranger in the original TV show, "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" (1993-94).

Answer: Thuy Trang

Trang was just 20 years old when she was cast as Yellow Ranger, Trini Kwan and she starred in all 80 episodes of the first season of the show as well as the first 20 episodes of season two, before she left to seek new challenges.
She appeared in the 1996 movies, "Spy Hard" and "The Crow: City of Angels" before dying aged just 27 in a car crash in California.
10. Canadian landscape artist, painted "Northern Lake" (1913) and "Black Spruce and Maple" in 1915.

Answer: Tom Thomson

Thomson never achieved fame during his lifetime but there is now great interest in his works, with pieces such as "The West Wind" (1917) drawing comparisons with van Gogh.
Thomson died in 1917, after disappearing while on a painting expedition on Canoe Lake in Ontario, Canada. His body was found six days after his disappearance, floating on the lake, with fishing line wrapped around his legs, and whether the cause of death was murder, suicide or accident has never been established.
Thomson's works can be seen in several Canadian art galleries, most notably, the National Gallery of Canada in Ottawa, the Art Gallery of Ontario in Toronto and the Winnipeg Art Gallery.
