1. In which year were the club formed?

Answer: 1885

Luton Town are known to fans as 'The Hatters' and were formed in 1885, first playing in the Football League 12 years later finishing eighth in the 2nd Division. Famous Luton supporters over the years include comedian Eric Morecambe and TV presenter, Nick Owen.
2. Where did the club first play their home games?

Answer: Excelsior Ground

Luton Town began their football life at the Excelsior Ground between the years of 1885-1897. A spell at Dunstable Road (1897-1905) followed, when the club moved into Kenilworth Road. Hat Stand Street does not exist.
3. Who was the club's first manager in their history?

Answer: Charlie Green

Charlie Green was Luton's manager between 1901-28. Thompson had just eight days in charge in 1925, with Kay being in the hot seat between 1929-31, and Wightman 1931-35. Other Luton managers over the years have included Joe Kinnear, Lennie Lawrence, David Pleat and Mike Newell.
4. From which club did Luton sign Marlon Beresford in 2004?

Answer: Barnsley

Beresford has been a well travelled goalkeeper during his career. Since his debut in 1987, he has played for Sheffield Wednesday (twice), Bury, Northampton Town (twice), Crewe, Burnley (three times), Middlesbrough, Wolverhampton Wanderers, York, Bradford City, and Barnsley.
5. Which of these played the most League games for the club?

Answer: Bob Morton

Morton played 494 League games for Luton between 1948-64. Donaghy went on to play 415 times in the League for the club, Harford played 168 League games, and Stein played 84 League games during two spells.
6. Who did Luton play in the 1987-88 League Cup final?

Answer: Arsenal

Luton were trailing the game 2-1, until Danny Wilson popped up and levelled the score. Brian Stein went on to get a very late winner, for the Hatters to win the cup, 3-2.
7. Luton were promoted into the Championship, following their League One title win during the 2004-05 season. How many points did they gain?

Answer: 98

Luton gained a massive 98 points as they won the League One title. The Hatters finished the season 12 points ahead of Hull City in second place. Sheffield Wednesday were the other team promoted.
8. Luton beat Bristol Rovers in a League game in the 1935-36 season. How many goals did Joe Payne score that day?

Answer: 10

Amazingly, Payne wasn't due to play that day, but gained his place in the team due to an injury to Billy Boyd. On 13th April, 1936, Payne scored 10 goals to give Luton a 12-0 victory. The Hatters finished the Division Three (South) season in second place.
9. Which of these former Luton players went on to represent Arsenal?

Answer: John Hartson

A powerful forward, Hartson began his career with Luton in 1992, before making the switch to Highbury in 1995. Hartson has also represented his country, Wales, at international level.
10. Which of the following has played for, and also managed the club?

Answer: Mike Newell

Newell played for the club between 1986-87, scoring 18 League goals in 63 games. He became Luton manager in June, 2003.
