Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "Salvation"- Where was Meg when she murdered Reverend Jim Murphy?

Answer: Blue Earth, Minnesota

Meg wanted to know where she could find John Winchester, a friend of Jim's. He told her he hadn't seen John in over a year, and wouldn't tell her if he did know where he was. So, she slit his throat.
Blue Earth is a real place. It was named after the river of the same name.
2. "Salvation"- How did John find out that Jim had been murdered?

Answer: a call came from Caleb

The Winchesters left Manning, Colorado to head toward Salvation, Iowa. There had been occurrences there that let John know the demon who'd killed Mary and Jess was in the area. John told his sons that mysterious cattle deaths, weird temperature fluctuations and electrical storms were some of the signs. Once in Salvation, Caleb called John with the news about Father Murphy.
Salvation is one of the rare made up towns seen on the show. Most towns the men visit are real ones.
3. "Salvation"- Sam's visions enabled him to save a mother and child from this weird "fire" demon that killed his mom and Jess. Who were the mother and child?

Answer: Monica and Rosie

In his visions, Sam saw the time of 9:45 and he could hear a train in the background. They figured out the location, and Sam could pin-point the house based on his mental images. Sam went up to Monica and Rosie as they strolled down the walk toward their home. He had a little chat with Monica, and then staked out the house.
After he and Dean saved the family, Sam tried to shoot at the demon (still inside the house) through the window. He misused another of the magic bullets. This demon is later identified specifically as Yellow-eyed demon.
4. "Salvation"- Upon demand, did John bring the real Colt to Meg while she was in Lincoln?

Answer: No

Dean found a fake antique and John took it to her instead. This happened right after they listened to her murder Caleb over the phone. Meg had an accomplice demon there with her. He took the Colt and shot her with it. She did not die, of course, and John was in trouble.
5. "Salvation"- What did John use the rosary beads for?

Answer: to bless a tank of water

He said a prayer and dropped the rosary into a huge tank of water. Presto, instant holy water. When Meg and her demon friend chased after John, he stopped in the tunnel and turned on a jet of holy water. This kept the demons at bay for a short time.
Sebastian Spence played the male demon, who turned out to be the female demon's brother. Sebastian played Cade Foster in the series "First Wave", Professor Matt Freeman in five episodes of "Dawson's Creek", and was born in Canada.
6. "Devil's Trap"- At whose place did Sam and Dean trap Meg?

Answer: Bobby's junkyard

Bobby was another of John Winchester's "friends". They all talked about the fact that Bobby had a shotgun pointed at John the last time he'd seen him. Just before Meg arrived, Sam is seen looking at a book with some form of protective circle drawn in it.
7. "Devil's Trap"- The demon trap that caught Meg was referred to as a "Satanic roach motel".

Answer: True

That was Bobby's description of it, once a demon gets in, it doesn't get out. Meg came bursting into the house, all fired up and demanding the real Colt. She did not realize that her trap was drawn on the ceiling.
8. "Devil's Trap"- Were the men able to exorcise the demon from Meg Master's body?

Answer: Yes

Bobby advised against it after they were able to get the demon to reveal John's location, Jefferson City. He was clear that the demon was all that kept Meg alive. She'd taken a fall from a building, so her body was broken. They did not know it, but she'd also been shot in the previous episode. Dean was insistent that she be freed from the demon so she could die in peace.

She lived a short time and confirmed the demon told the men the truth, and that the demons wanted them to go save their father.

The demons just wanted the real Colt. Meg died after she told Sam and Dean all she knew.
9. "Devil's Trap"- What color were John's eyes while possessed by the "fire" demon that killed Mary and Jess?

Answer: yellow

He tried to fool John's boys, but Dean figured it out. He knew his father would have been mad that he used one of the magic bullets, but this version of John said he was proud. Dean wouldn't shoot John, though, and so the demon revealed itself. Sam just wanted to know why Mary and Jessica were killed.

The demon said they both were in the way of Sam, whom the demon wanted. He wanted all the special children like Sam. He was also mad that his children had been killed. Apparently, Meg and her assistant demon were people inhabited by his demonic children.
10. "Devil's Trap"- What song was playing after the Winchesters were run over by a big truck?

Answer: Bad Moon Rising

Creedence Clearwater Revival's 1969 song "Bad Moon Rising" played as the episode ended. The Winchester men were on the road, heading away from Jefferson City, when a possessed man ran into them at high speed. "Carry on Wayward Son", by Kansas, played in the previous episode, "Ramblin' Man", by Allman Brothers, was heard in the "Pilot", and "Bad Company" could be heard in "Scarecrow".
The season ended with their lives up in the air.
