Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Zoonie

Answer: Fireball XL5

Zoonie the Lazoon (from the planet Calevio) was a lazy pet of Doctor Venus and had some telepathic features, although his speech was limited to "Welcome home" for most of the series. He had a tendency to meddle with mechanical objects much to the dismay of Robert the Robot, the co-pilot of Fireball XL5.

All the 39 episodes were shot in black and white and ran from 1962-1963.
2. Tex Tucker

Answer: Four Feather Falls

"Four Feather Falls" (1960) was the first series produced by Gerry Anderson to feature basic "Supermarionation". Tex Tucker was the sheriff of the fictional Kansas town, aided by Rocky his horse and Dusty his dog on his adventures fighting local villains.

The series of 39 episodes were shot in black and white and no real special effects were used.

Gerry Anderson followed up this series with "Supercar".
3. Destiny Angel

Answer: Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons

Destiny Angel was the leader of the five Angel pilots who were always ready to assist Captain Scarlet and other members of Spectrum against the Mysterons. Destiny was French and her real name was Juliette Pontoin.

"Captain Scarlet" was filmed between 1967-1968 over 32 episodes. The puppets were purposely made to look life-like. Captain Scarlet was modeled on the features of Cary Grant and voiced by Frances Matthews who frequently did impressions of him.
4. Phones

Answer: Stingray

Lieutenant George Lee "Phones" Sheridan was the Hydrophone Operator who manned
the nuclear-powered submarine "Stingray" along with its pilot Captain Troy Tempest. They worked for World Aquanaut Security Patrol (WASP) protecting the world against underwater civilizations.

"Stingray" was the third series of Gerry Anderson to be filmed in "Supermarionation" and consisted of 39 episodes airing between 1964-1965. The closing theme song "Aqua Marina" was sung by Garry Miller and composed by Barry Gray, who composed most of the music for Gerry Anderson's series.
5. Professor Ian "Mac" McClaine

Answer: Joe 90

Professor Ian "Mac" McClaine was the brains behind "The BIG RAT" (Brain Impulse Galvanoscope Record And Transfer) which allowed information to be transferred between two people. He was also the adopted father of Joe McClaine (Joe 90), a 9 year old boy turned spy.

"Joe 90" was the last series to be filmed wholly in "Supermarionation" and lasted for 30 episodes, first airing in 1968.
6. Doctor Beaker

Answer: Supercar

Dr Beaker and Professor Popkiss were the inventors of "Supercar", the car designed to fight evil. "Supercar", with its eight rockets, a speed of 1500 miles per hour and retractable wings, although very primitive in its design, was captivating to children eager for a new kind of puppetry.
It first aired on British TV in January 1961 and then on a New York local TV station in 1962.
7. Father Stanley Unwin

Answer: The Secret Service

"The Secret Service" was the last of Gerry and Sylvia Anderson's "Supermarionation" series and differed from the previous ones in that it also included live action.

A village priest, Father Stanley Unwin, voiced by the actor Stanley Unwin, was the recipient of a special briefcase that held a miniaturization device and he used this to help British Intelligence. The puppet, Agent Blake, was the same puppet who portrayed Captain Scarlet only with different color hair and eyebrows!
The series was filmed over 13 episodes at the end of 1969 and was not renewed.
8. Tin Tin Kyrono

Answer: Thunderbirds

Tin Tin Kyrono is the daughter of Kyrono, who runs the household for International Rescue on Tracy Island. She is fond of all of the Tracy boys, but has a special affection for Alan. She has accompanied them on various missions and also assists Brains. Her half-uncle is The Hood, the evil nemesis of International Rescue. Her name means "sweet' in Malaysian.
9. Brains

Answer: Thunderbirds

Brains was the chief Engineer for International Rescue and designed all five Thunderbirds. Recruited by Jeff Tracy at an early age, he lives on Tracy Island with the rest of the Tracy family.

The 32 episodes of "Thunderbirds" originally aired between September 1965 and December 1966. Gerry Anderson named the pilots of the five Thunderbirds after the Mercury 7 astronauts (Scott, Virgil, Alan, Gordon and John).
10. Doctor Venus

Answer: Fireball XL5

Dr. Venus was the love interest of Steve Zodiac, pilot of Fireball XL5. She was an adopted French orphan girl, originally called Lily Lumière. She later joined World Space Patrol and was assigned to be the surgeon on Fireball XL5.
