Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Vaughn Armstrong's first role in came as a Klingon in the "Star Trek: The Next Generation" episode "Heart of Glory". What was his character's name?

Answer: Commander Korris

Korris, Konmel and Kunivas were fugitives who had stolen a freighter and destroyed another Klingon ship. They were rescued by the crew of the USS Enterprise 1701-D, however Kunivas died of his injuries shortly afterwards. Konmel and Korris were shot trying to escape. Commander K'Nera was the officer who arrived to take the fugitives into custody.
2. Moving on to "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine", Vaughn Armstrong played a Cardassian who was one of Damar's resistance cell. What was this character's name?

Answer: Seskal

In "The Dogs Of War", Seskal was left in charge of the ship whilst Kira, Damar and Garak went to meet Gul Revok and Legate Goris, both of whom had promised to join Damar's rebellion.

Gul Rusot was killed by Damar in the episode "Tacking Into The Wind" for threatening to kill Kira whilst they are trying to steal the Breen energy dampening weapon.
3. Although Voyager was stranded in the Delta Quadrant, Vaughn Armstrong played a Romulan called Telek R'Mor in the first season episode "Eye of the Needle". He promised to let Starfleet know of Voyager's plight. Why didn't he?

Answer: He was from the past and he had died.

As well as being a passage back to the alpha quadrant, the wormhole that Voyager found traveled back 20 years in time. Telek R'Mor agreed to transmit a message to Starfleet in 2371 so they know how what had happened to Janeway's crew. Unfortunately, Tuvok discovers that the Romulan captain died in 2367.
4. In the "Star Trek: Voyager" episode "Survival Instinct", Vaughn Armstrong played Lansor, who was formerly a Borg drone. What was his Borg designation?

Answer: Two of Nine

Seven of Nine encounters three other former members of the Borg collective in this episode. Whilst they were still part of the hive mind, they were all marooned on a planet when their individuality started to reassert itself. Seven reassimilated them, with an unexpected result. Even though they were now individuals, they were still able to hear each others thoughts.
5. In the two-part "Star Trek: Voyager" episode "Flesh and Blood", Vaughn Armstrong plays a member of which species?

Answer: Hirogen

Captain Janeway gave the Hirogen holodeck technology so they could hunt in a different way. Unfortunately, the Hirogen decided to turn off the safety protocols and many died as a result.

Vaughn Armstrong was credited as 'Alpha-Hirogen' in this episode. His vessel also responded to the distress signal that Voyager received.
6. In the "Star Trek: Voyager" episode "Fury", in which an older Kes briefly returns to Voyager, Vaughn Armstrong played a Vidiian Captain.

Answer: True

In this episode, the older Kes was full of rage and blamed Captain Janeway for abandoning her. When she traveled back to 2371 (the year Voyager arrived in the delta quadrant) she contacted the Vidiians to hand the crew over to them. Captain Janeway was able to stop both Kes and the Vidiian attack and continue their journey.

Vaughn Armstrong was credited as 'Vidiian Captain' in this episode.
7. "Star Trek: Enterprise" probably provided Vaughn Armstrong with his most recognisable character, Admiral Forrest. What was the Admiral's first name?

Answer: Maxwell

In the episode "First Flight", we find out that Commodore Forrest was responsible for running the NX programme, which was the testing and development of Henry Archer's warp 5 engine into a practical starship. When Enterprise was launched, Admiral Forrest was responsible for overseeing its mission.
8. In the "Star Trek: Enterprise" episode "Vox Sola", Vaughn Armstrong played a Kreetassan Captain who became offended. This was as a result of the way Hoshi was dressed.

Answer: False

The Kreetassans were offended by the crew eating! Whilst they eat in the same way to humans, they do so in private. After initially storming off the Enterprise at the start of the episode, Travis offers an apology when they meet again later and all was forgiven.
9. How did Admiral Forrest die?

Answer: In an explosion at the Earth embassy on Vulcan.

Although spelled slightly differently, the character of Admiral Forrest was named after DeForest Kelley, who played Dr Leonard McCoy in the original series of "Star Trek" (Source: TrekToday.com).

Admiral Forrest's last act was to push Ambassador Soval out of the way of the explosion, ensuring the Vulcan's survival.
10. In the two episodes of "Star Trek: Enterprise" set in the mirror universe, Vaughn Armstrong's character was Maximilian Forrest, however he was not an admiral. What was his rank in these episodes?

Answer: Captain

In "In A Mirror, Darkly", Captain Forrest was in command of the Enterprise and selected Jonathan Archer as his first officer as he believed Archer wasn't a threat to his command.

The role of Maximilian Forrest was the last role that Vaughn Armstrong played in "Star Trek: Enterprise".
