9. Helen Crump

Helen Crump (Aneta Corsaut) is Opie's school teacher and Andy's girlfriend for 66 episodes of the show. Helen is good friends with Barney's girlfriend Thelma Lou and the four of them go out on double dates often. Aneta Corsaut also played the part of Steve McQueen's girlfriend Jane Martin in the 1958 sci-fi classic "The Blob".
10. John Masters

John Masters (Olan Soule) runs the Mayberry Hotel and is also the town's choir director. He is also the director of most of the plays and pageants that happen in town. He was the one who picked Rafe Hollister to sing at a musicale and picked Gomer Pyle to replace Barney as a soloist in the town choir.
