Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Ratchet (of the "Ratchet & Clank" games)

Answer: Omniwrench

Although Ratchet has wielded an arsenal of insane weapons and gadgets, it's his trusty Omniwrench that has persisted across the entire series of "Ratchet & Clank" games from its PlayStation 2 origins. The Omniwrench is capable of thwacking away foes, crushing crates containing precious bolts, ammunition and health, and, of course, activating bolt switches (it is a wrench, after all).
2. Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad (of "Assassin's Creed")

Answer: Hidden blade

You may argue that that the hidden blade is a signature weapon of the entire "Assassin's Creed" series, and you'd be right. But, for us, it was the deft, silent-blade-in-the-crowd work of the Syrian assassin Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad that was our first experience of this deadly tool. Activated by a flick of the wrist, the hidden blade extends downwards from the underside of the forearm, ready to dispatch those unfortunate enough to be marked for death.
3. Lara Croft (of the "Tomb Raider" games)

Answer: Dual pistols

Before she was rebooted and dropped on a remote island and left to fend for herself, Lara Croft was a kick-bottom, gun-toting archaeologist and eponymous raider of tombs. Familiar depictions of this character show her wielding a pistol in each hand, a look which carried over into the much-maligned, Angelina Jolie-starring films.
4. Dr. Gordon Freeman (of "Half-Life")

Answer: Crowbar

The mute Dr Gordon Freeman of "Half-Life" fame is perhaps one of the most recognised video game characters. Despite picking up a modest array of human and alien tech across his games, the crowbar has remained a staple and most pictures of Freeman have him holding his trusty metal stick, ready to bash the Combine or any foe unlucky enough to be running at him.
5. Conker the Squirrel (of "Conker's Bad Fur Day")

Answer: Frying pan

Only Rare could pick an innocent animal like a squirrel and turn him into a drunken, foul-mouthed caricature of modern masculinity. Conker and his titular bad day is a classic, and his chosen tool of the trade is... a frying pan. Yep. Mind you, that's far from being the strangest thing about this game (a certain opera-singing lump of muck springs to mind).
6. Sora (of "Kingdom Hearts")

Answer: Keyblade

"Final Fantasy" meets Disney in the acclaimed "Kingdom Hearts" games, in which our protagonist, Sora, wields a mystical artifact known as the Keyblade. As well as being something to swing around and bop foes on the head with, the Keyblade is capable of opening and closing the way to other worlds.
7. Geralt of Rivia (of "The Witcher")

Answer: Steel and silver swords

The battle-scarred hunter of beasts and seducer of women that is Geralt of Rivia relies on his ever-present pair of swords to fend off the threats of the land. The steel sword is more useful against humanoid foes, while the silver sword is best used when fighting monsters. Various oils can be applied to these swords to enhance their effects and give Geralt an edge (no pun intended) in combat.
8. Mickey Mouse (of "Epic Mickey")

Answer: Paint brush

Mickey Mouse, a perennial animated favourite, utilises a magical paint brush in "Epic Mickey", with which he can create or delete objects in the world (by channelling paint and paint thinner, respectively). This world is known as the Cartoon Wasteland, a place where the shelved, dropped or otherwise forgotten cartoon creations live.
9. Mega Man (of the "Mega Man" games)

Answer: Mega Buster

Mega Man is almost always seen with his Mega Buster, an arm cannon not dissimilar to that used by Samus Aran in the "Metroid" games. Whether it's firing out a series of shots or charging it up for a bigger, more powerful attack, Mega Man's Mega Buster is never too far away. Well, it *is* attached to his arm.
10. Kratos (of the "God of War" games)

Answer: Blades of Chaos

When you're going up against actual gods, you need some pretty decent weapons at your disposal. Cue the Blades of Chaos, forged by Ares himself and wielded by Kratos. These powerful blades, connected by chains, allow him to pull off some devastating and sometimes quite gruesome attacks. It's probably best not to get on Kratos' bad side, eh?
