1. Secret Intelligence Service (SIS)

Answer: United Kingdom

The Secret Intelligence Service, sometimes referred to as MI6, is the external intelligence service of the UK.

Infamous members of the SIS included Kim Philby, Guy Burgess, Donald Maclean, and Anthony Blunt, who all revealed British secrets to the Soviet authorities.

The domestic equivalent of SIS was MI5, also known as the Security Service.
2. Ministry of State Security

Answer: China

Formed in 1949, the MSS is China's civilian intelligence service and was said to be involved in counter-intelligence, cyber warfare and industrial espionage.

China also has a network of public security bureaus (or in British English, bureaux.)
3. Federal'naya Sluzhba Bezopasnosti

Answer: Russian Federation

TheFederal'naya Sluzhba Bezopasnosti(FSB) was the successor to the KGB and is Russia's internal intelligence service. It also covered countries of the former Soviet Union.

Headquarters offices of the FSB were established in the famous (or infamous) Lubyanka in Moscow.

External intelligence for Russia was handled by the SVR, Sluzhba vneshney razvedki Rossiyskoy Federatsii.
4. Directorate-General for External Security

Answer: France

Direction Générale De La Sécurité Extérieure, DGSE, was formed in 1968 to become France's external intelligence service. It traced its roots to the 1947 formation of Service De Documentation Extérieure Et De Contre-espionnage.

DGSE was blamed for sinking the Greenpeace ship 'Rainbow Warrior' in Auckland harbour, New Zealand, in 1981.
5. Bundesnachrichtendienst

Answer: Germany

Formed in1956, BND became Germany's external security service.

On its website, BND declared its mission to be "Our work includes collecting information beyond publicly available facts and opinions. This enables us to look behind the scenes, shed light on the background and provide an objective view - always for Germany's security and within the legal framework. Often, we work in secrecy and in the background; rarely do our successes become evident and perceptible."
6. Glavnoye Razvedyatelnoye Upravlenlye

Answer: Russian Federation

The Glavnoye Razvedyatelnoye Upravlenlye (GRU) was the military intelligence service of Russia and its predecessor the Soviet Union. It was frequently said to rival and compete with the KGB - Komitet Gosudarstvennoy Bezopasnosti.
7. Research and Analysis Wing

Answer: India

Founded in 1968, RAW was India's external intelligence service.

Initially RAW's role was to counter the influence of China, however the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) think tank opined: "RAW and Pakistan's spy agency, the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), have been engaged in covert operations against one other for over three decades."
8. Central Intelligence Agency

Answer: United States of America

Calling itself "the Nation's first line of defense", the CIA also publicly declared itself to be "the world's premier foreign intelligence agency".

The CIA was founded in 1947 and was the USA's external intelligence agency, operating only overseas (although countless movies, TV shows, and books would have us believe it also operated within the USA.)
9. Security Information Agency

Answer: Serbia

Founded in 2002, the SIA (aka BIA) was Serbia's external security agency.

According to the organisation's website: "Its primary mission is to protect the security of the Republic of Serbia, to detect and prevent the activities aimed at undermining or disrupting of constitutionally defined order of the Republic of Serbia". (Spy services with websites: what would James Bond have made of that?).
10. Shin Bet

Answer: Israel

Shin Bet was Israel's internal security service. The name was a Hebrew abbreviation of "Security Service.

Israel's most famous intelligence service was Mossad (aka The Mossad).
