5. Which Oscar winning actor once fought the world heavyweight boxing champion?

Answer: Victor McLaglen

Victor McLaglen was almost 50 years old when he won the best actor Oscar for 1935's "The Informer". An interesting man was Victor, he had been a soldier and professional boxer prior to becoming an actor. Around 1909 he fought the then world champion, Jack Burns, in what was primarily an exhibition bout. After serving as an officer during WWI he continued to box before drifting into acting.

At the time of his Oscar win, Victor had appeared in 50 films, many of them silents. 6. By now quite a few people may have heard of the Cavern Club in Liverpool, where a quite famous musical group once played. Which street is the Cavern Club on?

Answer: Mathew Street

The Cavern Club was, and part of it still is, on Mathew Street, Liverpool, UK. It is nothing like it used to be when the Fab Four and other groups played there in the '60s. Mathew Street was a dingy narrow lane that smelled of rotting fruit and vegetables stored in the warehouses around it.

The Cavern was a cellar in a fruit warehouse and it was opened as a jazz club by Alan Sytner on the 16 January 1957 and the first act to perform there was the Merseysippi Jazz Band. The Quarrymen first played there on the 7 August 1957; they were booked to play skiffle between the performances of two jazz bands. They were told not to play rock'n'roll but the leader of the Quarrymen (a certain J. Lennon) defied the instructions and started playing the Elvis Presley song "Don't Be Cruel"
