The vast majority of this movie is viewed through the perspective of a camera, in which a timestamp is constantly present. Micah and his fiancée Katie spend most of the movie being continually harassed by paranormal forces. Things come to a head towards the end of the movie, though, as a possessed Katie attacks and murders Micah, before wandering off into the darkness.

Katie would go on to become a primary antagonist across the next two movies, before being killed herself in the fourth iteration.

This trilogy, which released during the 1980s, is definitely some of legendary director George Romero's more niche work. It's also noticeably gorier and relies less on 'clean' graphics, even for its time.

In the first movie, in very oddly attempted-humorous fashion, a zombified child's head is used as a trap, which is sprung by an unknowing Daniel, who has his throat gnawed on by the helpless undead kid. This one was a very controversial scene that largely led to this being the generally lowest rated movie of the trilogy.

In the second iteration of the trilogy, a zombified baby takes an adult man by surprise when the man leans in to kiss it. This one was also frowned upon even during its time.

In the third and final movie, a child literally dies off camera, comes back to life on camera and rips apart a scientist, and this is the first kill of the entire movie.

Needless to say, these movies would not have hit the big screen in the 21st century.
