Answer: Leonardo DiCaprio

DiCaprio, born on November 11th, 1974 in Hollywood, California was cast as Edward "Teddy" Daniels. Teddy worked as a U.S. Marshal and was first seen taking a boat to Shutter Island to visit an insane asylum. When Teddy got there, the Deputy Warden demanded that he surrender his weapon and Teddy said he was a U.S. Marshal.

The warden referenced a law which said they could take his gun if they so pleased so Teddy gave him his gun. Teddy asked about a particular patient at the institution, since he was assigned to an investigation regarding that patient.

In one scene Teddy noticed that there was a patient missing at the institution and he sought to locate that patient. Throughout the movie, Teddy was haunted by visions of three young children who turned out to be his kids but ones he did not know were his children at the time.

In the final scenes, Teddy was told that he was actually a patient at the institution and had been serving two years there for killing his wife. Teddy was also told that the person he thought was his partner at the U.S. Marshal office was actually assigned to watch him at the insane asylum.
