Across a number of decades, you might find that rock bands become bigger than just their frontmen, and the twenty names in this quiz are likely proof of that fact as only half of them were lead vocalists in their respective groups while the others, despite being names you might find quite familiar, never really were, even if they appeared in multiple music outfits.
On the lead singing side, starting from the earliest of the group, Jim Morrison was the singer who headed The Doors until his untimely passing in 1971. Billy Gibbons helped bring ZZ Top to the height of their fame throughout the 1970s (though he would perform with the band well into the next century) while Brad Delp was Boston's lead singer through all five of their studio albums. Freddy Mercury, famously, was Queen's frontman until his passing in 1991 and the band would continue to perform with guest lead vocalists (notably, Paul Rodgers and Adam Lambert during lengthy tours).
In the 1980s, Bret Michaels was the lead vocalist for Poison though younger media viewers might remember him for his stint on VH1's "Rock of Love". On the topic of TV personalities, Ozzy Osbourne was the lead singer for Black Sabbath in the 1980s before taking a solo turn in the 1990s and appearing with his family on the MTV reality show "The Osbournes" in the 2000s. Steven Tyler, meanwhile, led Aerosmith starting in the 1970s but one could argue their highest-charting hits never showed until the 1990s.
The latest of the lead singers in this quiz include Anthony Kiedis, the frontman for the Red Hot Chili Peppers; Scott Stapp, whose distinctive 2000s alt-rock vocals led Creed; and Scott Weiland, who led the Stone Temple Pilots in the 1990s and Velvet Revolver in the 2000s before his passing in 2015.
As for the incorrect options, all of them have stake in rock music, but are best known for their proficiency with other instruments.
Looking at the guitarists of the group, Eddie Van Halen was primarily the guitarist (and one of the namesakes) of Van Halen while Angus Young was the guitarist and songwriter for AC/DC. Slash played guitar for Guns N Roses, Jimmy Page was with Led Zeppelin, and The Edge (David Howell Evans) was with U2.
Three of these musicians are drummers as well. Tommy Lee drummed for Motley Crue, Lars Ulrich was with Metallica, and Mick Fleetwood was one of the founders (and long-term members) of Fleetwood Mac. There's also one bassist in the set-- it's Roger Waters, who played for Pink Floyd.
