Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The crew of the USCSS Maginot starts awakening from cryosleep as they pass through the orbit of which planet in the year 2120?

Answer: Saturn

In the future, the race for immortality will come in three guises: Cybernetically enhanced humans: Cyborgs; Artificially intelligent beings: Synths; and synthetic beings downloaded with human consciousness: Hybrids. Which technology prevails will determine what corporation rules the universe.

Out in the solar system, a spacecraft passes by Saturn on its way back home to Earth. The USCSS 'Maginot', operated by the Weyland-Yutani Corporation, transports its organic cargo in the year 2120, coming to the conclusion of its sixty-five-year-long mission. More than eight hundred million miles from home, half of the Maginot's crew awakens from cryosleep while the other half remains watched over by Teng. The crew jokes that he won't be a problem.

The conversation jumps to the corporations that currently rule over Earth, amongst them, Weyland-Yutani (who own North and South America), Dynamic (which owns the Moon), and the new one, Prodigy, operated by Synths.
2. Who, of these, is the cyborg on the USCSS Maginot?

Answer: Morrow

The crew of the Maginot is under the understanding, with Teng's say-so, that they are four months from home, give or take a few days. Dinsdale, the captain of the spacecraft, assesses that the comms are down and the log files are corrupted. They'll need to determine which systems to shut down to ensure that they don't fail to make it back home on fumes. Even though turning off the life-support systems for the specimens they've collected from distant planets seems enticing, it's not a real solution. The specimens, Morrow reminds them, are the mission. Some of the others don't take him all too seriously-- he's a cyborg, after all.

The Maginot crew are all aware that they've lost a lot of men trying to collect the samples they've been hauling across the solar system. It is, however, a non-negotiable arrangement to jettison them into space. Morrow is willing to restrict anyone who opposes this call to their quarters.

After Chibuzo tends to the extraterrestrial creatures in her lab, feeding them as needed, she and the others either go about their work or tuck themselves back in for cryosleep, unknowing of the terror to come as they approach their home planet.
3. Which movie plays on the lab ceiling when Marcy's procedure commences?

Answer: Peter Pan

On the Prodigy 'Neverland' Research Island, in a facility resting on a sheltered inlet, Marcy watches a scorpion in an enclosure. Kirsh, who oversees her, asks what they should do with the scorpion, and she instinctively thinks to kill it before it can harm them. He follows up, however, to ask what would happen if its friend came to sting them in defence. As afraid as she is, it's a complicated question to approach. They stand over it, in its glass cage, like terrifying gods.

Before long, Marcy is called upon to execute the procedure. It is time, and she has to do it. Kirsh reassures that she'll be there when she wakes up. Pulling her IV fluids along, Marcy asks if the procedure will hurt, but Sylvia, who guides her through the facility, insists that it's like falling asleep. She may even dream until she awakens. On a table in the lab, she finds the body that her consciousness will end up inhabiting, remarking that she's pretty.

Boy Kavalier, Prodigy's CEO, stops by to congratulate Marcy as well, before the procedure begins, comparing her to Neil Armstrong. As far as scientific advancements go, she'll be a pioneer: the first person whose consciousness will transfer from a human body into synthetic. Above, on the ceiling, he plays the Disney film "Peter Pan"; it'll be the last thing she sees before she falls asleep.

Marcy asks where her brother is; Sylvia insists she'll see him after the procedure. Until then, he can't. It's a secret.

Marcy lays down on the table and looks over at her synthetic form. She says that the new girl looks like a Wendy.
4. Wendy is asked to be a big sister for the other children scheduled for the procedure. When one of the children asks when they'll be able to go home, what is Wendy's response?

Answer: They won't

When the switch is thrown, Marcy's dreams transfer into Wendy's mind before, at last, the synthetic's eyes open on a bright day. She finds herself on a cliffside, looking out at the sea, before Sylvia calls her down. Capable of inhuman feats, Wendy leaps from the rock wall, lands on her feet on the beach, and barrels across the sand to attend her meeting with Kirsh.

As Wendy's overseers field her basic questions, it becomes clear that Marcy's child mind still has to come to terms with some of the new realities of her body and form. Wendy's emotions have been tempered, as she explains, partly because the human body creates hormones to make those moods; Sylvia says that they've created programs to simulate these for her, and it will take time to get used to. It will take time to grow, mentally, into Wendy's human body. Simulating the human experience will be critical.

In the meantime, the other children have arrived. There will be others, like her, but for now, they are human children who must be prepared to transition into their synthetic forms. Wendy will need to be a darling big sister, answer their questions, and encourage them into knowing that what will be done will be right for them. One of the new girls asks when they get to go home. Without affect, Wendy says they don't.

Before long, all of the children, like Peter Pan's Lost Boys, are transferred into their adult bodies. Over the PA system of the facility, Boy reads the synthetics J. M. Barrie's classic tale.
5. No human crew members survive the Maginot's return to Earth.

Answer: True

On the Maginot, Morrow begins to write a status update regarding the mission and in doing so he indicates that navigation has been compromised. Cargo containment has failed. Sealed into his security room, alarms sound in the corridors behind him while red, flashing lights are a clear indicator that something is horribly wrong. The specimens are loose.

As the remaining crew bangs on his door in an effort to get him to let them in, he rises from his seat, transforms his arm, and welds the room shut. Outside, a Xenomorph locates its prey and violently dispatches it.

On the screen, Morrow continues typing that the crew is dead. A collision course with Earth is unavoidable. The containment of the specimens shall be the top priority.

The Xenomorph cracks the thick glass of the window to his room, it pulls the welded door out of its frame. Morrow informs Mother that he will need the impact room, and with that he slides into a space beneath the floor, sealing it just as the Xenomorph punches through and scrambles to reach him.

The Maginot, hurtling through space, collides with the edge of a space station in orbit around the moon and haphazardly takes a trajectory straight onward to Earth with nothing to stop its collision.
6. The Maginot crashes into which of these locations?

Answer: New Siam

It's Prodigy City in New Siam that finds itself ground zero for the disaster that unfolds. On one early morning, Joe, Marcy's brother, passes through the market, and Wendy watches him on the Prodigy camera feeds. She doesn't realize she's being surveilled by the labs.

Joe, a medic, works with Prodigy's soldiers to help the wounded. In the meantime, he's been informed that Marcy has passed away, and he's none-the-wiser about the procedure that's transformed her into a synthetic.

Joe is with his colleagues when the Maginot hurtles through the sky. It collides with several buildings before smashing into the massive trio of structures that make up the city's central landmarks. He and his fellow medics, just under its flightpath, spring into action and head downtown to support with relief. Unsurprisingly, the disaster is continuing to unfold around the forces as they proceed into ground zero.
7. Joe's search and rescue squad are able to enter the Maginot through which means?

Answer: A hole in the hull

Joe and the search and rescue team head into the building destroyed by the Maginot, finding their way into a destroyed piece of the foundation following voices below. What they find there is the way in; spanning a short gap that falls into the depths below is a hole torn into the Maginot's hull. Realizing that the Maginot is a Weyland-Yutani ship, they jokingly wonder if there's a finder's fee for the contents.

Elsewhere in the ship, Morrow emerges from his hiding spot, using his torch to cut through the door, as Mother's systems fight to reboot. The command deck, littered with mutilated bodies, still appears to have functioning camera feeds. He tells Mother to relay a message to Weyland-Yutani headquarters to inform them that the ship has been breached and the status of the cargo is unknown. He plans to head to the armory, intending to hold position until reinforcements arrive.
8. Wendy heads to the Maginot crash site, but does she do so with the approval of her creator?

Answer: Yes

At Neverland, Wendy puts on a headset for a test with Arthur to determine the range of frequencies she can hear, and sure enough, she can hear beyond human frequencies. Midway through the test, however, Wendy catches the footage unfolding on the television sets in the lab, all depicting the crash site for the Maginot.

Boy is informed of the crash as well, leading him and his men to assess the damage. Fortunately, while lives were certainly lost in New Siam, many citizens were celebrating Founder's Day at the park, and were missed by the disaster as a result.

Kirsh and Wendy arrive midway through the discussion and Wendy insists that they send her and the others to aid in the rescue and clean-up, a decision that Kirsh is rooted in her mind because of her brother's involvement. Seeing this as the perfect opportunity to watch the event unfold, especially since the Maginot is on Prodigy land, he allows her to bring the Lost Boys. They can deal with Yutani's backlash when it comes. In the meantime, Kirsh will join the trip to oversee and issue orders as needed.

Arming herself and packing what she needs, Wendy convenes with the Lost Boys in the lounge and lets them know they have a life-or-death mission to head out on. With that, they suit up, load into a Prodigy craft, and head out to new Siam.
9. Morrow manages to subdue two of the search and rescue soldiers in the Maginot. Where does he restrain them?

Answer: In the lab

In the Maginot, Morrow proceeds down the corridors just as Joe's tactical squad passes through, and they narrowly miss him as he makes his way into the lab. They follow behind, unknowing, and it's this that allows Morrow to get the jump. While the men are distracted by the containment chambers inside, some of which still contain their extraterrestrial specimens, they stumble upon at least one body, killed with two shots to the body and one to the head. They did not die in the crash.

Neither notices as a specimen descends from the ceiling on a silken thread, maneuvering its way into one of their collars.

Before the men can depart, Morrow leaves his hiding spot and forces the two search and rescue men to drop their weapons and return into the lab. Making them sit back-to-back against a pipe, he cuffs them to the ship and asks where he can find Kavalier. They have no answer for this.

Realizing that the specimens in the lab appear to be intact, Morrow heads out to pursue the fugitives.
10. The silk-spinning aliens that locate members of the search and rescue team appear to feed on which of these?

Answer: Blood

As the remaining members of Joe's team head through the ship they locate the cryo chamber only to find that all of the men and women in the capsules are dead, many due to debris from the crash, but in some cases from inexplicable wounds that have been on the bodies for more than a week, at least judging from the blood. One body, whose chest appears to be broken open, has a trail of blood leading from the cryo-tube. None of them notice the movement of shadows on the walls. Instead, the follow the trail out of the room.

The men left in the lab attempt to reach for their tossed knives, but that's exactly the inopportune moment in which the creature that descended from the ceiling emerges, makes its way along the trapped men, and feeds on their blood, rapidly engorging as it feasts. Both are helpless to these small aliens.

While Wendy and Kirsh head to New Siam, Kirsh talks about how humanity for a long time, was nothing more than food. And at some point, humanity decided to upgrade its status, evolving into something that would no longer be food anymore. In the animal kingdom though, there's always something bigger that overtakes everything smaller. Wendy comments that her brother won't die, but Kirsh insists that, of course, he will of something at some point. Wendy vows to save him so that he won't need to.

On the Maginot, the remaining members of the search and rescue team feel as the ship rocks and starts to collapse into the pit below, and as it does, its interior doors seal shut.
