"The Amazing Race Canada 11" [1] Quiz

Answer: Edmonton

This season, racers started their competition where the previous season ended in the capital city of Alberta, Edmonton. There, eleven teams of two gathered in the middle of the field in Commonwealth Stadium to commence a race around the nation for the grand prize of $250,000 (CAD), a trip for two around the world, and a pair of Chevrolet electric vehicles.

To begin, teams had to search the stadium to locate their first clue. If they could, they could head up to the top of the stands, rappel down to their bags outside the building, and continue racing.

Answer: Jesse and Jonathon

Leaving Commonwealth Stadium, teams ripped open their first Detour clue, a choice between 'On the Fence' and 'Behind the Wheel'. In 'On the Fence', racers headed to the Edmonton Fencing Club where they had to suit up in proper attire and attempt to make three hits (or touchés) against a professional fencer. 'Behind the Wheel' took teams to the Edmonton Potters' Club instead, having them learn how to craft a pile of clay into a pot while one of them was blindfolded. Jesse and Jonathon, Rebecca and Rebecca, and Michele and Aditi completed 'Behind the Wheel' while all other teams completed 'On the Fence'.

Answer: An alpine coaster

Racers finished their Detours and were instructed to drive one hundred fifty kilometres southward to the city of Red Deer, Alberta and, when they arrived, they needed to locate the Canyon Ski Resort. There, racers opened their clues to find a length alpine coaster at the top of the ski hill. Here, one team member needed to ride the course from top to bottom while, at the same time, counting the duration of the course. If they could properly count the trip to within two seconds of the actual time, they could get their next clue.

This challenge featured the Desjardins Assist, and the team that received it, Rebecca and Rebecca, could complete the task with a five second margin of error.

Answer: The Silver Buckle

Leaving Canyon Ski Resort, racers tore open their first Road Block clues and headed to The Silver Buckle in Red Deer proper, joining the Country Pride Dance Club to keep it between the lines. For this task, the selected racers needed to join the locals in a classic line dance, learning the choreographed moves to a song and hopping into their spot on the dance floor to execute them to perfection. Jonathon, Blake, Magoo, Rebecca, Sam, Lacey, Osas, Demetres, Marie, Aditi, and Grace elected to take on this task.

Answer: Michele and Aditi

At the end of the leg, racers needed to drive themselves from their Road Block to Red Deer's Fort Normandeau Interpretive Centre to find Jon and their first Pit Stop. Jesse and Jonathon won the first leg of the race, winning themselves a trip for two to Bali, Indonesia courtesy of Expedia along with $10,000 CAD cash to spend on their vacation.

Interestingly, while Nipiy and Magoo neglected to collect their bags at the start of the race course, Jon checked them in at the Pit Stop in third place because they had their IDs (specifically their driver's licenses) in their possession. They would, however, keep on racing without anything except the clothes on their backs.

At the end of the leg, Michele and Aditi attempted to pull themselves out of last place but were unable to keep out of the bottom. They were last to check in on the mat and the first team to be eliminated.

Answer: Three

Racers headed out from the Red Deer Resort & Casino at the start of Leg 2 and were told that they would have to located a charter bus sign-up board at Red Deer City Hall to take one of two rides (of five teams each) to Lake Louise arriving fifteen minutes apart. Upon their arrival at the Lake Louise Mountain Resort in Banff National Park they would have the opportunity to compete for the three Express Passes available there, but to claim them they would have to chisel their way through massive ice blocks. Only two blocks of ice, amongst many others, contained the Express Passes.

While Osas and Esosa took one, Marie and Louis managed to snag two.

Answer: Lasso

Whether they went through the Express Pass challenge or not, teams found a Road Block waiting for them at the bottom of the ski hill at Lake Louise Mountain Resort, and for this one, one team member needed to 'know the ropes'. For this challenge, teams had to locate Brewster Stables and join with one of the instructors there to learn how to properly lasso an object. With a rope in hand, they had to score three points by tossing their lasso at numbered targets, scoring three points to continue racing. Jesse, Nipiy, Joe, Celia, Louis, Esosa, Demetres, Brendan, Rebecca, and EB were roped into this challenge.

Answer: Papa Smurf

Departing from Lake Louise, teams were instructed to drive themselves one hundred kilometres west through the Rockies to the Alberta-B.C. border and the border town of Golden, British Columbia on the Kicking Horse and Columbia Rivers. There, they would need to find their way to Mount 7, searching a marked 40-acre woodland for their next clue at a small mushroom house in a branded task for the 2025 film "Smurfs". If they could find Papa Smurf's mushroom, they could continue into Golden and get their Detour clue. Osos and Esosa, already at the back of the pack, used their Express Pass to skip this task.

Answer: 'Sled It'

After finding Papa Smurf, racers had to proceed to Kicking Horse Mountain Resort and take the chairlift up to search the slopes for a Detour. On this one, racers could pick either 'Sled It' or 'Tread It'. In 'Sled It', racers packed a full sledge with ninety kilograms of supplies, lashing them down before transporting the whole thing uphill seventy-five meters with one person steering and the other pulling. In 'Tread It', teams had to use provided materials to craft makeshift snowshoes, donning them and proceeding up a forty meter course to get their next clue. Only Brendan and Sam went for 'Tread It'.

As an added bonus, EB and Blake collected an Assist during this task, allowing them to employ it to have an expert help them along. They used it on 'Sled It', starting the task with all of their belongings loaded onto the sled. Had they done this for 'Tread It', they would have received the snowshoes off the jump.

Answer: Brendan and Sam

Once racers trekked to complete their Detour, they were handed a clue directing them to the second Pit Stop of the competition waiting for them atop the Golden Skybridge, Canada's highest suspension bridge. Jesse and Jonathon crossed the bridge to the observation deck taking a second first-place win in a row, this time winning a trip for two to Tokyo, Japan courtesy of Expedia (who also provided $10,000 CAD) in addition to a $5,000 CAD cash prize from Boost.

Although Osos and Esosa had issues with navigation all leg, a poor showing at a needle-in-a-haystack task and a slow Detour choice left returning team Brendan and Sam arriving in tenth place. Unfortunately it meant they were eliminated from the race.
