Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Lacey and Celia's Speed Bump in Prince George had them picking up which of these en route to a tree nursery?

Answer: Doughnuts

Leaving Canada's Far North from an inukshuk in Inuvik, racers hopped on flights southwest (via Yellowknife and Vancouver), back into British Columbia, headed for the central city of Prince George. Landing at the airport there, teams found their clues waiting in their Chevrolet vehicles. For this, racers had to drive to the Ness Lake Forest Nursery, and there, they opened a clue that sent them searching through the hundred greenhouses on the grounds, searching for six puzzle pieces to construct a model of Prince George's mascot, Mr. PG.

The Assist from Desjardins was found in this location, and Ika and Demetres were able to start the task with two of their six pieces.

Additionally, Lacey and Celia encountered the Speed Bump upon landing in Prince George, driving to the House of Ancestors restaurant to pick up an order of bannock doughnuts. Once they delivered them to the Ness Lake Forest Nursery, they could keep racing with the other teams.
2. Which of these teams was a victim of the Double Pass in Leg 5?

Answer: Jesse and Jonathon

Once racers constructed their versions of Mr. PG, teams could proceed back into Prince George to locate the actual statue of the city mascot. There, they found a Double Pass board as warned in their first clues of the leg, and they had the choice of completing this one as a Blind race mechanic. For this, Nipiy and Magoo used the Pass on Jesse and Jonathon while Grace and Joe used it on Ika and Demetres, forcing both teams to wait until the next team behind them had passed them to receive their next clue, doing so while remaining anonymous.
3. In the 'Mental Energy' Detour task in Prince George, racers had to calculate how many wood pellets were needed to perform which task?

Answer: Provide energy to a household for a day

Teams left Mr. PG behind and headed into their Detour options, a choice between 'Mental Energy' and 'Physical Play'.

The first of these choices sent teams to the University of Northern British Columbia to find the Wood Pellet Bioenergy Project to calculate how many wood pellets it takes to heat a home for twenty-four hours. Using provided numbers, they had to work out the 40kg answer and show their work before filling a sack with the correct amount to get their next clue. Only Jesse and Jonathon completed this task.

The second option was held at the Charles Jago Northern Sport Centre, and there, racers played wheelchair badminton. If they could keep a rally going for fifteen volleys, they could get their next clue.
4. Teams completing the Leg 5 Road Block needed to be 'feeling splashy' with a water aerobics class. Participants finished the task in which spot?

Answer: Outside of the pool

Leaving the University of Northern British Columbia, teams ripped open a Road Block clue that had them choosing someone who was 'feeling splashy'. For this challenge, racers had to make their way to the Prince George Aquatic Centre where one racer had to memorize and lead a water aerobics class for a pool full of participants, doing so from the edge of the pool.

Grace, Nipiy, Blake, Rebecca, Ika, Jonathon, Marie, and Lacey completed this task.
5. Which team was eliminated in Leg 5 at the end of the day in Prince George, B.C.?

Answer: Louis and Marie

Completion of the water aerobics Road Block gave teams the last clue for the leg sending them out to the race's fifth Pit Stop atop the city at Connaught Hill Park. Overlooking Prince George, Jesse and Jonathon reclaimed their lead position, winning their fourth leg of five thus far in the race and taking an Expedia prize package of a trip for two to Mexico City, pocketing $15,000 CAD in spending cash.

Louis and Marie, plagued by unforeseen injury, fell to last place this leg and arrived at the Pit Stop behind the rest of the teams. They ended their race in eighth place overall.
6. Both Detour options that racers encountered in Leg 6 ('Stage Fright' and 'Wall Sight') involved working with which language?

Answer: French

Teams left Prestige Treasure Cove Resort in Prince George, B.C. not knowing how packed their sixth leg would be. Opening clues in the middle of the night, racers were told to fly to Montreal, Quebec (via Vancouver). Once there, racers needed to hitch a ride to the town of Valcourt to find the J. Armand Bombardier Ingenuity Museum, grab their waiting vehicles for this leg of the race, and drive themselves to the Eastern Township city of Sherbrooke.

A clue box waiting at the Hôtel de Ville gave teams their Detour for this leg, and it meant choosing either 'Stage Fright' or 'Wall Sight', both of which had mostly English-speaking teams attempting to learn a bit of French to get by in Sherbrooke's art scene.
7. Teams faced a Face Off in Sherbrooke in Leg 6. What did teams need to do to get their clues?

Answer: Joust

Leaving their respective Detour tasks, racers had to drive themselves to the facilities at O-Volt Sherbrooke and get in line for a Face Off, the race's second. For this one, one member of each competing team had to hop onto a balance beam and, with an inflatable block, joust their opponent into the pit below.

The winning team would get their next clue and continue racing while the losing team would have to face the next in line. The last team to finish, Rebecca and Rebecca, had to wait out a fifteen minute penalty to keep racing.
8. Teams visited the town of Bromont for their Road Block in Leg 6. There, racers had to use which of these to complete the Road Block?

Answer: Bicycle

Leaving their Face Off, racers opened their Road Block for the sixth leg, and this one needed a teammate who was ready to 'take the inside track'. In this task, racers drove sixty-five kilometres to the Bromont National Cycling Centre where one racer needed to suit up and join a peloton as they rode around the indoor velodrome at a forty-five degree tilt. If racers could stay on the upper side of the track's blue line for two full laps, they could get their next clue. EB, Jesse, Joe, Celia, Demetres, Magoo, and Rebecca completed this task.
9. Who did not engage with the Pass board in Sutton in Leg 6?

Answer: Grace and Joe

Leaving the Road Block, teams had to drive southward to the Quebec border town of Sutton and, searching along its main road, they had to find a gazebo hosting the Blind Double Pass board, already in play after being used in the previous leg. This time around, front-runners EB and Blake forced Jesse and Jonathon to wait at the board while Jesse and Jonathon subsequently used the Pass on Ika and Demetres.

After this, racers had to find their way to Bob's Farm, just outside town, to join the locals in some goat yoga. For this task, teams had to learn and execute five yoga poses with goats to get their next clue. Rebecca and Rebecca, who obtained the Desjardins Assist for this task, only needed to complete two poses before moving on.
10. Which team was eliminated from the race at the end of Leg 6 in Southern Quebec?

Answer: Rebecca and Rebecca

After balancing their chi and unwinding a bit with the goats of Bob's Farm, racers were asked to drive to their next Pit Stop at Château Ste-Agnès outside the town of Sutton on a picturesque vineyard property overlooking the rolling Appalachian Mountains.

This leg was won by EB and Blake, who stayed out front for the whole trip through Quebec. This win, their second of the race, gave them an Expedia prize package including a trip for two to Bangkok, Thailand and $15,000 CAD of spending money. At the back of the pack, Rebecca and Rebecca managed to get the Assist but couldn't overcome their later departure from the Face Off. They were eliminated at this Pit Stop.
