Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Although teams spent most of the first leg in Red Deer, they actually started in Edmonton. Which team left their bags at the start line?

Answer: Nipiy and Magoo

This season of the race started where the previous one left off at Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton, Alberta, and teams scoured the bleachers of this massive sports facility before rappelling down the outside from the roof. After picking up their bags (or not), racers could proceed to the rest of their tasks in Red Deer.

While the bags would be waiting for teams at the bottom of the rappel, Nipiy and Magoo would accidentally end up overlooking theirs, continuing without and checking into the Pit Stop in third.

They would continue racing without their belongings instead of heading back to get them as they were in possession of their IDs, necessary for flights and self-drives.
2. How many teams won Express Passes at Lake Louise in Leg 2?

Answer: Two

Racers took charter buses to the picturesque region around Lake Louise, Alberta at the start of Leg 2 and had the chance to pursue the competition's only Express Passes, all of which would be sealed away in massive ice blocks at Lake Louise Mountain Resort.

Here, Tim and Marie won two of them (one for themselves and one to give away) and Osas and Esosa would win the other. All three would be used by the end of the third leg, the last being given to Jesse and Jonathon.
3. Abbotsford Centre was the site of the Face Off in Leg 3, and teams needed to participate in which activity to complete the task?

Answer: Hockey

Heading to Vancouver in Leg 3, racers proceeded eastward to the towns of Langley and Abbotsford to complete tasks near the southern border of British Columbia. Here, at Abbotsford Centre, racers encountered their first Face Off of the race, an apropos shootout wherein racers needed to shoot and block hockey pucks while their partners acted as goalies for the opposing team. Winning racers could proceed while the last team would be stuck waiting out a fifteen minute time penalty.
4. Leg 4 of the race took teams to the village of Tuktoyaktuk, concluding on which body of water?

Answer: The Arctic Ocean

Racers took a first-ever (for the race) visit to the Arctic Ocean in Leg 4, flying from British Columbia to the small, Northwest Territory town of Inuvik to dig into a series of tasks pertaining to local life, language, and work. And to their surprise, halfway through the leg, they were asked to board a charter plane that would take them even further north, all the way up to the coastal village of Tuktoyaktuk on the edge of the Arctic Ocean. Teams checked into the race's only non-elimination Pit Stop at the northernmost mat in "The Amazing Race" history.
5. At the University of Northern British Columbia in Prince George, some teams weighed out which of these, solving a math equation for their Detour?

Answer: Wood pellets

Returning to B.C. after a leg in the far north of Canada, racers proceeded into the central hub of the province visiting Prince George. Here, teams had to complete a number of physical tasks, but a notable exception was one of the two Detour options, 'Mental Energy', which had them determining how many wood pellets it took to provide energy to heat a house for a day. Anyone opting out of attempting to solve the math for this could instead participate in a game of wheelchair badminton elsewhere on University of Northern British Columbia campus.
6. Leg 6 took teams to Sherbrooke in what Canadian province?

Answer: Quebec

Racers finally headed eastward in Leg 6, commencing the back half of the competition by flying to Montreal and proceeding south for a race-first visit to Sherbrooke, Quebec. Here, teams exercised their knowledge of the French language before proceeding into the Eastern Township border towns of the region, finding along the route a Face Off and another Pass board.

The series of tasks here set Rebecca and Rebecca back far enough that they couldn't overcome the Face Off's penalty, even with the other teams using the Pass and the Assist falling into their hands for the last task.
7. Which team was eliminated on a boat nestled amongst the Thousand Islands in Leg 7?

Answer: None of these

As racers headed along the Saint Lawrence River in Leg 7 they proceeded alongside and then through the Thousand Islands and the town of Gananoque, Ontario. Although teams had an exhausting early morning at Fort Henry and a lengthy day hunting for salad dressing ingredients, they landed on the Pit Stop mat on a cruise ship nestled amongst the islands to find that this was a keep-on-racing mat. No one was eliminated and Nipiy and Magoo, who arrived last, were not required to complete a Speed Bump in the proceeding leg.
8. The Absolute World Towers, seen here, played host to which of these race tasks in Leg 8?

Answer: Road Block

Racers headed to Mississauga, one of Ontario's larger cities, for Leg 8, completing tasks in and around local businesses in this otherwise bustling community next door to Toronto. Of particular note, teams had to visit the eye-catching apartment towers in the middle of Mississauga, the Absolute World Towers (known locally as the Marilyn Monroe Towers).

Here, for a Road Block, one racer had to pull themselves from the lower tower roof to the higher one using a mechanical ascender. If racers could clear this, they would have one more task to complete before heading to the Pit Stop on Lake Ontario's shores in Port Credit.
9. Before visiting the town of Gander, racers stopped off in the harbour of what provincial capital in Leg 9?

Answer: St. John's

Heading to Canada's far east in the penultimate leg of the race, teams needed to make a stop in the Newfoundland capital, completing a handful of tasks in the harbour and downtown streets of St. John's before claiming charter bus tickets to Gander. In this leg, racers needed to overcome a handful of aviation-themed tasks in and around this key air navigation hub, and after learning how to provide air traffic instructions, they partook in an extremely difficult set of Detour choices in Gander International Airport. Ika and Demetres were last to leave the Detour and were, as such, eliminated. Teams returned to St. John's to start their final leg.
10. The depicted structure was the spot at which teams encountered what twist in the race in the final leg?

Answer: Double Road Block

The Collingwood Grain Terminals, one of the most pronounced structures on the shores of Georgian Bay, started teams' final leg as teams took on an "Amazing Race" first with a Double Road Block, a task which required that one racer take the first half of the task and the second take the other to close it out. An additional Road Block would be found later on in the race course as well.

Here in the Blue Mountains region, a tight finish of only minutes gave Jesse and Jonathon the grand prize over Grace and Joe.
