Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. How many Detours were featured in this season of "The Amazing Race Canada"?

Answer: Eight

Racers would encounter Detours in fourth fifths of this season of the race, hitting a split decision in nearly every leg. The only notable exceptions were in Leg 7, in which the teams visited the Thousand Islands of Ontario and only encountered a Road Block task (in addition to their regular Route Info tasks) and Leg 10, in which teams faced the first-ever Double Road Block, a pair of concurrent Road Blocks that would have teams splitting partners and completing tasks at the same time.
2. The 'Behind the Wheel' Detour option at the start of the race had teams doing which of the following?

Answer: Joining a pottery class

Racers departed from the start line in Edmonton, Alberta's Commonwealth Stadium and continued their tasks through the city in the start of this first leg, and this began with a Detour choice sending them to either a fencing club or a pottery studio. In 'On the Fence', racers had to dress the part as they faced off against professional fencers, aiming to touch their opponent with an épée three times to move along.

In 'Behind the Wheel', racers joined the Potters' Guild in Edmonton where one racer, blindfolded, had to mold a clay pot while their teammate gave directions. Most teams completed 'On the Fence'.
3. Racers completed either 'Sled It' or 'Tread It' in which province?

Answer: British Columbia

Although teams completed the first half of their day in Leg 2 around Lake Louise, Alberta, completion of the Road Block allowed them to take the Trans-Canada Highway west to Golden, British Columbia, where they spent the remainder of the leg. Here, taking the chairlift up the side of Kicking Horse Mountain, racers had to choose one of two tasks, the first involving loading and dragging a heavy sled up the side of the mountain and the second involving making functioning showshoes out of forest materials.
4. Which team, completed both sides of the Detour in Leg 3, doing so without using an Express Pass?

Answer: Grace and Joe

In Leg 3, racers encountered the Double U-Turn Vote when they reached Langley, B.C., and it meant that the teams with the most votes, Jesse and Jonathon and Grace and Joe, were stuck completing both the 'Take a Hint' and 'Plant Treatment' tasks later in the leg. Jesse and Jonathon were fortunate, however, in that Louis and Marie opted to give them their second Express Pass with the aim of burning it out of the race. They subsequently used it to skip the 'Take a Hint' challenge, leaving Grace and Joe the only team to, technically, complete both challenges with the task requirements fulfilled.

Despite all of this, Jesse and Jonathan still came in first at the end of the leg.
5. The Detour tasks that teams encountered when they visited the Northwest Territories in Leg 4 were presented with titles in what language?

Answer: Gwich'in

Racers completed their fourth Detour task in Invuik in the far north of the Northwest Territories in the race's fourth leg, and for this one, teams had to choose to make local toys or join children in learning the endangered regional language of Gwich'in. Teams completing 'Iviqsuraaq' did the former, creating five stick-and-bone toys to deliver to local establishments; teams gong back to school for 'Gahtronatun Zheh' had to learn Gwich'in answers to questions presented to them by a local elder. Most teams elected to complete the language task.
6. Only one team completed the 'Mental Energy' Detour option in Prince George (in Leg 5). Which team was it?

Answer: Jesse and Jonathon

In Prince George, racers completed their Detour options at the University of Northern British Columbia and had to choose a mental task or a physical one. In 'Mental Energy', racers had to use their math and science know-how to, with a bit of help, determine how many wood pellets were needed to provide energy for a typical home while in 'Physical Play', they completed volleys in a game of wheelchair badminton.

Only Jesse and Jonathon completed the former task, managing to regain a lot of ground this leg to check in at the Pit Stop ahead of all other teams (despite the Pass).
7. Leg 6 involved hunting down murals or performing onstage in which Quebec city?

Answer: Sherbrooke

Arriving at the Hôtel de Ville in Sherbrooke, racers had to learn a bit of French.

In 'Stage Fright', teams headed to Sherbrooke's Granada Theatre to play the role of server on and off stage in a play about blind dates. Between having to say lines onstage, racers had to serve four of the eight tables in the audience proper items to complete the challenge, and only by getting all of it correct, in French, could they get their next clue. EB and Blake, Jesse and Jonathon, Ika and Demetres, and Lacey and Celia went with this challenge.

In 'Wall Sight', racers sped around on foot in Downtown Sherbrooke looking for six massive building murals. Teams received a list of eleven items, all in French, that they had to hunt for in the murals and once found, they had to match them to the correct murals at their starting point. Nipiy and Magoo, Grace and Joe, and Rebecca and Rebecca completed this task
8. Both Detour tasks in Leg 8, in Mississauga, Ontario, were completed at which location?

Answer: Skatepark

For both of the options in this leg of the race-- 'Roll It Up' or 'Break It Down'-- racers had to head to an indoor Mississauga skatepark, choosing one of two physical tasks with their own quirks. In the former, teams had to ride scooters, completing the indoor course without error to get a combined time of a minute fifteen while in the latter, racers instead needed to learn the choreography of a breakdance routine performed by local dancers.

Due to a U-Turn Vote, Jesse and Jonathon and EB and Blake completed both tasks, otherwise, the tasks saw an even split.
9. In the race's final Detour, held in Gander, Newfoundland, teams could compete 'Mosaic', a task inspired by what Broadway musical set in Gander?

Answer: Come From Away

Teams had a series of aviation-based tasks in the Crossroads of the World, Gander, when they stopped off in Newfoundland for the penultimate leg of the race. There, at the International Airport, teams could choose 'Menu' or 'Mosaic'. The latter task was inspired by "Come From Away" as teams needed to place crocheted granny squares on a large mosaic setpiece from the musical.

The former had teams translating dinner orders from waiting passengers, each from different countries. Three teams completed 'Menu' while two finished 'Mosaic'.
10. Which of these appeared most during the "Amazing Race Canada 11"?

Answer: U-Turn Vote

Teams faced the U-Turn Vote twice during this season, never encountering the U-Turn Board to select a team directly, and this happened in Leg 3 (in Langley, British Columbia) and Leg 8 (in Gananoque, but influencing the task in Mississauga). In both cases, teams voted for Jesse and Jonathon to complete both sides of the Detour, and in the first of these cases, they ended up winning the leg nonetheless (partly due to their use of an Express Pass).
