Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The first Road Block of the race was a dance task in Red Deer. What kind of dance was it?

Answer: Line dance

Racers ended off the race's first leg with a stop at The Silver Buckle, a rodeo bar in Red Deer, Alberta, where one member of each team had to join the Country Pride Dance Club and learn how to fall in line with a typical line dance. If racers could get the choreography down, they would be able to race onward to the first Pit Stop at Fort Normandeau.

This first Road Block was completed by Jonathon, Blake, Blair, Rebecca, Sam, Lacey, Osas, Demetres, Marie, Aditi, and Grace.
2. Racers had to learn how to toss lassos for their second Road Block task, doing so in which famous Albertan locale?

Answer: Lake Louise

Racers made their way from Red Deer to Lake Louise in Leg 2 and headed to the Brewster Stables to continue their cowboy education in Alberta. Here, one member of each team (Jesse, Nipiy, Joe, Celia, Louis, Esosa, Demetres, Brendan, Rebecca, and EB) had to take up the rope provided and learn how to craft and toss the perfect lasso, wrapping it around a series of numbered pole targets. If racers could score three points doing this, they would be given their next clue and sent onward to British Columbia.
3. Racers completing the Road Block in Inuvik in the Northwest Territories were tasked with locating animals on a dogsled ride. Which of these animals was not amongst those they needed to spot?

Answer: Walrus

Racers had to make their way to the Arctic Chalet in Inuvik in Canada's far north in Leg 4, and there, one member of each team needed to hop onto the back of a dogsled and let the dogs take them on a three kilometre trail around the tundra. Along the way, they would need to keep their eyes peeled for seven animal signs positioned around the snowy course, memorizing their order and reciting their names at the end. Jonathon, Ika, Lacey, Magoo, EB, Rebecca, Louis, and Joe completed this task.
4. The Leg 5 Road Block involved leading a water aerobics class. Did any teams use an Express Pass to complete this?

Answer: No

By this point, all Express Passes in the game had been used. Instead, team members had to take this one head-on, visiting the Prince George Aquatic Centre in Central B.C. to take part in a water aerobics class for a pool full of local exercise enthusiasts. For this challenge, Grace, Nipiy, Blake, Rebecca, Ika, Jonathon, Marie, and Lacey had to learn the specific choreography and perform on beat for the people in the pool to get their final clue for the leg.
5. In Quebec's Eastern Townships (in Leg 6), racers completed their Road Block task in which facility?

Answer: Velodrome

Heading out of Sherbrooke, Quebec and making their way to the town of Bromont, racers located the Bromont National Cycling Centre for their Leg 6 Road Block, and there, they needed to ride around on a velodrome, an indoor biking track. To get their proceeding clue, racers had to succeed in completing two laps around the course, but they needed to do so around a marked blue line indicating a floor tilt of forty-five degrees. Completing the circuit would let teams head onward to the Pass board.
6. Visiting the Thousand Islands region of Ontario in Leg 7, Road Block participants had to dress themselves and which animal in matching outfits?

Answer: Donkey

Heading through the riverside villages of Ontario, proceeding along the Saint Lawrence, teams visited the Berry Homestead Farm in Lyndhurst for a Road Block task that had racers 'working it'. Here, teams had to select a fashion ensemble and dress themselves, head-to-toe in clothing and accessories to match the look.

The catch is that they also had to dress up one of the farm's donkeys in a matching outfit. If they got all of the pieces correct, they would be able to get their next clue.
7. The Road Block for the eighth leg of the race, in Mississauga, had racers mechanically ascending the distance between which of these?

Answer: The roofs of the Marilyn Monroe Towers

Some of the most recognizable skyscrapers in Mississauga, Ontario played host to the eighth leg's Road Block which, unexpectedly, had racers heading to their highest points to perform a physically-demanding mechanical ascension. For this, Ika, Grace, Jesse, Nipiy, EB, and Celia needed to pull themselves from structure to structure at one hundred seventy metres up. If they could brave the heights and muster up the strength, they would continue racing to their final task of the leg and, potentially, a place in the semifinals.
8. In Gander, Newfoundland, Road Blocked racers jumped from a helicopter into the North Atlantic.

Answer: False

While all Road Block participants in this penultimate leg of the race needed to jump out of a CH-149 Cormorant at Canadian Forces Base Gander, they jumped into Gander Lake-- not the North Atlantic-- to experience the chilly search and rescue training mission at hand.

They could then swim out to their clue, take once more to the skies, and reunite with their teammate to keep on racing through the town of Gander. Jonathon, Grace, Nipiy, Blake, and Ika were required to complete this Road Block in order to ensure an even Road Block count going into the final leg of the race.
9. The final leg of the race saw the first Double Road Block of the show. Which of these best describes this race mechanic?

Answer: Each racer completes a Road Block at the same time

Landing in Collingwood, Ontario, racers found this unexpected, brand new twist as they kicked off the final leg of the competition at the abandoned Collingwood Grain Terminals. Here, racers had to split up and take on one half of the task with one performing a descent into the basement of the grain silos and the other climbing up to the top.

The racer heading into the structure needed to use a blacklight to locate three combinations written in invisible ink on the walls, navigating in the dark to do so.

They then needed to communicate these to their climbing partner, on the roof, who had to collect corresponding bags of grain to trade for their clue.
10. The final Road Block of the race involved jetboarding on which body of water?

Answer: Georgian Bay

Although teams had the Double Road Block at the start of the day, it was fair game for another Road Block near the end as teams headed to the sands of Northwinds Beach for another, final solo task. Here, one member of each team had to learn how to use a jetboard, riding it around a buoy course per an instructor's lesson. If they could complete the twists and turns of the course in under twenty-four seconds, they would be able to keep racing to their final memory challenge.
