Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. At the start of Leg 7, racers took charter buses from Southern Quebec to Fort Henry, located in which Ontario city?

Answer: Kingston

Heading out at the start of Leg 7, the remaining six teams were told to return themselves to Sherbrooke City Hall. There, they would find a sign-up board determining which of two buses they would be catching to the city of Kingston, Ontario, each arriving fifteen minutes apart.

The catch was that teams would be dropped off at Fort Henry National Historic Site where they would have to search the sprawling fort for coloured tokens. Teams had to claim whatever they located with the aim to match two of them, and if they couldn't, they would have to trade with teams until they did.
2. Racers had to perform maintenance on which of these forms of transportation in Leg 7?

Answer: Helicopter

Getting a matched pair of tokens at Fort Henry would get teams tickets on a helicopter bound for their next cluebox at the Kingston Airport, across the Saint Lawrence River, and they took that flight the morning after their token hunt. Upon landing at Kingston Airport, teams were taught how to perform maintenance on provided choppers. If they could fill out a chart with the correct gauge numbers on two example helicopters, they would get their next clue.
3. In the town of Gananoque, racers had to memorize the ingredients of what locally-relevant food?

Answer: Thousand Island salad dressing

Completing the helicopter maintenance task, racers collected a Chevrolet vehicle from the airport parking lot and drove themselves forty-five kilometres east to the small town of Gananoque. There, in front of the town hall, racers had to locate a town crier, and this person would be found reciting not only the seven-ingredient recipe for Thousand Island dressing, but locations in town at which those ingredients could be found.

If racers could collect the ingredients throughout Gananoque and deliver them to Laverne's Eatery, they could keep racing.
4. In Leg 7, what prompt were teams provided for the Road Block task in Lyndhurst, Ontario?

Answer: 'Who's ready to work it?'

Opening their Road Block clue, racers had to choose one team member who was 'ready to work it', and from there, they had to proceed to the riverside town of Lyndhurst. Arriving at the Berry Homestead Farm, that selected racer was required to pair up with a donkey and select one of ten provided fashion looks. If they could perfectly replicate the depicted outfit using provided clothing and accessories on both themselves and the donkey, they could take a professional photo and keep racing. Blake, Magoo, Joe, Jesse, Demetres, and Lacey finished this task.
5. The Pit Stop racers encountered at the end of the seventh leg was brief as they were told to keep on racing. Which team arrived there last?

Answer: Nipiy and Magoo

After their Road Blocks, racers were instructed to drive to the town of Ivy Lea to locate a marked dock where they could jump into a waiting speedboat and head out onto the Saint Lawrence River. Here, racers would make their way to the race's seventh Pit Stop atop the deck of the Thousand Islander III cruise ship nestled amongst the islands themselves.

Grace and Joe managed their first win of the race here, claiming a trip for two to Lima, Peru and $10,000 CAD courtesy of Expedia. They would become the third team of the race, thus far, to collect a win. This time it was Nipiy and Magoo who would check in last, falling to the back of the pack over the course of the Road Block. No one was eliminated, however; instead, teams were told to keep on racing into their eighth leg.
6. At the start of Leg 8, racers completed a U-Turn Vote and then flew from Montreal to what Ontario city?

Answer: Mississauga

Instead of taking a break in the Thousand Islands, teams had to return to the shore and drive themselves to Treetop Trekking Forest Adventure Park. There, they would traverse the ropes course collecting packs of Boost Energy Drinks, each marked with different nutrients. If they collected the five drinks with twelve different nutrients, they could zipline down to a U-Turn Vote board. Once their votes were placed, they would get tickets on one of two flights to their next destination: Mississauga, Ontario.
7. Only two teams received votes at Leg 8's U-Turn Vote board.

Answer: True

Once teams arrived at Pearson International Airport, they had to locate Lounge 15 in the domestic terminal in order to find the results of the U-Turn Vote and get their next clue. Upon determining, as expected, that Jesse and Jonathon and EB and Blake were the only recipients of the U-Turn and forced to complete both sides of the Detour, racers could head into the city and locate the headquarters of Bell Mobility.

There, in the parking lot, they could choose one of the waiting Chevrolet BrightDrop delivery vans and fill it with their specific marked packages. Proper packing would result in a clue.
8. Which team did NOT complete the 'Roll It Up' scootering Detour in Leg 8?

Answer: Nipiy and Magoo

Leaving the packing task, racers needed to visit CJ's Skatepark for their Detour, embarking on one of two tasks themed around the Mississauga JACKALOPE Festival. In 'Roll It Up', teams collected scooters and made their way around the skatepark's marked course. If they could complete the course with a combined time of one minute fifteen seconds without tripping up they could get their next clue. In 'Break It Down', teams instead had to learn the choreography of a breakdance routine. Completing the routine with a local crew meant finishing the task.

Grace and Joe and Ika and Demetres completed 'Roll It Up' while Nipiy and Magoo and Lacey and Celia went for 'Break It Down'. Jesse and Jonathan and EB and Blake completed both due to the U-Turn Vote.
9. For the Road Block in Leg 8, racers had to perform which of these tasks between two skyscrapers?

Answer: Ascend

Leaving the Detour, racers were told to find the Marilyn Monroe Towers at Absolute World for their Road Block task, which led in with the innocuous clue of 'who's building confidence?'. For this task, the selected racers (Ika, Grace, Jesse, Nipiy, EB, and Celia) had to head to the roof of the shorter tower and, using nothing more than an ascender, pull themselves the distance between the two tower roofs, an upward slant fifty-six storeys above the ground. Once the racer reunited with their partner, they could rip open their next clue.
10. Which team was eliminated from the race in sixth place, departing in Leg 8?

Answer: Lacey and Celia

At the end of Leg 8, racers first had to make their way to Ornge, home to Ontario's rapid response ambulance service. After being taught by first responders, teams needed to complete four training drills to the satisfaction of an instructor to get their last clue sending them by taxi to the Pit Stop on Lake Ontario.

If racers could locate the Pit Stop mat at JC Saddington Park they could check in, and that's exactly how Grace and Joe pulled their way to a second consecutive win, this time earning a trip for two to Florence, Italy from Expedia (with a $10,000 CAD cash prize). After falling behind at the start of the leg, Lacey and Celia were unable to catch back up, leading to the girls' elimination at the mat.
