If the player dies to the Snatcher, this will actually prove to be a secret way to access another whole area entirely. Dying to this Snatcher teleports the player to what area? Hint

Question 8 of 10
8. Very, very late in the player's playthrough, the player may encounter a disheveled, bloodied Eileen the Crow just past the Cathedral Ward gate. Eileen has been beaten nearly to death by a hostile NPC which she tries to warn the player away from. Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Right from the moment of entry, the player meets a mysterious figure identifying themselves as the Oedon Chapel Dweller. The Oedeon Chapel Dweller tells the player that the Cathedral Ward is protected by a special incense, making it completely impossible for any beasts to infiltrate. Does this turn out to be true?

Answer: Yes

If the player leaves the cathedral ward, picks a fight with a beast or a couple that prove to be too much, they can return to the cathedral ward, and any beasts pursuing them will immediately back off. It is impossible for any beast to enter the Cathedral Ward, rendering it a true safe haven.
2. The Oedon Chapel Dweller proves trustworthy and peaceful, even if the player brutalizes him first. If the player attacks, but does not kill him and then talks to him, he will give the player an item as a "peace offering." What item does the player receive here?

Answer: Pebble

It is worth noting the Oedon Chapel Dweller has very, very low HP, so it is entirely possible to accidentally kill him in one hit. He will not respawn either, so this would be a mistake with lasting consequence. If the player throws their own Pebble at him, it will do basically no damage, but doing any damage at all is enough to trigger this sequence.

It is through here that it becomes clear: the Oedon Chapel Dweller isn't a threat to the player. He is blind, cannot walk, and has the utmost of benevolent intentions.
3. Here, the player can meet Old Hunter Alfred, who will be a short walk outside the cathedral. Alfred is initially friendly to the player. Speaking to him and exhausting his dialogue will cause him to appear as an Old Hunter Summon for two bosses. Who is one boss the player can receive Alfred's help with?

Answer: Blood-Starved Beast

Without talking to Alfred and exhausting his dialogue, it will not be possible to receive any Old Hunter support for Blood-Starved Beast, as Alfred is the only possible summon for this fight. To that end, Alfred is remarkably tanky, and will hold up for the fight for a long time. He is also reasonably aggressive, wielding the Kirkhammer to go with a Hunter's Blunderbuss. While exceedingly rare, it is possible for Alfred to parry the Blood-Starved Beast, and he is capable of landing his own visceral attacks in the event that he does.

Alfred can also be summoned to help fight Cleric Beast, should the player have left that boss alive. Alfred is capable of straight up soloing Cleric Beast should the player want it.
4. To the side of the cathedral, there is an Amygdala perched to the side of a tower. If the player gets too close, it will reach out and grab them. This will always result in a death at no gain, unless the player has a particular key item to hand. What key item is needed to survive this?

Answer: Blood Drunk Hunter's Eye

The Blood Drunk Hunter's Eye is found at the Hunter's Dream, and spawns once the player has defeated Vicar Amelia. Its purpose is to grant access to the game's DLC, which is what the Amygdala at Cathedral Ward is positioned to facilitate. If the player has this item and is grabbed by Amygdala, this time they won't die, but will instead be essentially teleported into the DLC area known as the Hunter's Nightmare. If the player does not have this item, they will simply be killed by the Amygdala at no gain.
5. One optional objective given to the player is to gather refugees and send them to the Cathedral Ward so they can find safety. How many NPC refugees exist which can be sent to Cathedral Ward?

Answer: Four

Arianna is one NPC, and is easily the most beneficial to send to the Cathedral Ward. Doing so is actually mandatory in order to obtain this game's "secret" ending. The player must keep her alive and safe at Cathedral Ward until they have slain Micolash, Host of the Nightmare. Keeping Arianna alive can be easy, but based on player decision, it can actually be surprisingly difficult to do. There are a number of "triggers" the player could stumble upon which could lead to her premature death.

The Skeptical Man is another NPC who can be recruited, and is one who can cause Arianna's death too. Skeptical Man's gimmick is that he will randomly murder an NPC at the Cathedral Ward each time the player kills four bosses of any kind. This, of course, can mean he can end up murdering Arianna. The solution is to not send Skeptical Man to the Cathedral Ward at all. But if the player has done this, they themselves can simply kill Skeptical Man, and he will no longer be a threat to Arianna or anyone else.

Adella the Nun is an NPC the player meets in Yahar'Gul who can be sent to Cathedral Ward. She may seem innocent and harmless, but she can end up murdering Arianna too. In fact, a particularly attentive player may notice Adella's character physically turning towards Arianna and examining her intently any time the player speaks to Arianna. By accepting an Arianna's Blood Vial from Arianna, Adella will be driven to jealousy and will murder Arianna the next time the player kills a boss. Like Skeptical Man, the player could opt to simply not send Adella to Cathedral Ward, they could kill Adella by their own hand, or they can simply avoid accepting an Arianna's Blood Vial while Adella is at the cathedral.

Finally, the Lonely Old Woman can be sent here too. She is the only NPC who will never kill Arianna or anyone else for that matter, so the player doesn't have to worry about her. She will occasionally leave the cathedral to get the player Sedatives. However, she will eventually get herself killed by beasts doing this, so if the player wants to keep her alive, they must simply refrain from asking her to go get more Sedative.
6. Old Hunter Henriette can actually be summoned and provides general summon assistance to the player when doing so. She will not be available however, until the player does what?

Answer: Opens the Cathedral Ward gate

Henriette was mainly intended to assist the player with the boss fight, which explains why she isn't summonable until after the player has finally opened the gate connecting the Cathedral Ward to the Grand Cathedral. Once the player does this, they have nothing stopping them from immediately heading right to the boss fight.

Henriette wields the Kirkhammer, a Repeater Pistol and occasionally will randomly put the pistol away and take out a Torch. She also carries an infinite amount of Molotov Cocktails, and will randomly use them when at a distance from her target.
7. Not long after initially discovering the Cathedral Ward, the player will hear the sound of ominous footstep thudding taking place outside the north doorway. If they go to investigate, they will find a Snatcher waiting for them. This isn't just any Snatcher though. If the player dies to the Snatcher, this will actually prove to be a secret way to access another whole area entirely. Dying to this Snatcher teleports the player to what area?

Answer: Yahar'Gul, Unseen Village

Yahar'Gul, Unseen Village, is not accessible through ordinary means until much, much later in the playthrough. The player is forcibly teleported here after defeating Rom, the Vacuous Spider, who is a mid game boss. As such, Yahar'Gul will likely prove overwhelming for players who come here via dying to the Snatcher.

However, for adventurous players who are up for a heck of a challenge, the benefit to being in a later game area is access to later game loot which will prove quite useful for an early game character, As well, there is a boss fight with Darkbeast Paarl which, while extremely difficult at this stage of the game, similarly will grant unbelievably great rewards to an early game player who has the skills to tough out a difficult fight.
8. Very, very late in the player's playthrough, the player may encounter a disheveled, bloodied Eileen the Crow just past the Cathedral Ward gate. Eileen has been beaten nearly to death by a hostile NPC which she tries to warn the player away from. If the player ignores her and proceeds, they'll find themselves crossing blades with the, bar none, most brutal enemy Hunter in the game. Who will the player fight here, that was so brutal even Eileen the Crow couldn't handle them?

Answer: Bloody Crow of Cainhurst

For as powerful and larger-than-life as Eileen can be, Bloody Crow of Cainhurst has her completely eclipsed. He is, by a million miles, the hardest NPC Hunter to kill in the entire game. He has 2254 HP and comes with two Blood Vials for healing. He also wields the Chikage and the Repeater Pistol, and will hit like an eighteen wheel truck with either of these tools. He has access to the Old Hunter's Bone tool, which will make it difficult for the player to hit him. Finally, he has an unlimited amount of Quicksilver Bullets, letting him spam the Repeater and OHB as much as he wants.

This is an extremely difficult fight. Not only is it hands down the hardest NPC Hunter fight, but it can be argued that this is one of the harder fights in the game, period, as well.

If the player emerges victorious, they can return to Eileen for their reward: the Crow Hunter Badge, as well as access to the Hunter of Hunters covenant and Caryll Rune. Eileen will then pass away and won't appear for the rest of the playthrough.
9. Who is the boss of Cathedral Ward?

Answer: Vicar Amelia

Vicar Amelia is confronted shortly after passing through the Cathedral Ward gate, and heading up and into the Grand Cathedral. Killing Vicar Amelia is very, very big for story related reasons. So before the player does it, they should ensure that any NPC questlines they were interested in have been advanced as far as possible, as slaying Vicar Amelia has the chance to prematurely end or negatively impact NPCs.
10. There are ultimately numerous impactful fights here against enemies who love to heal. If the player wants to combat enemy healing, they'll need a throwable item. Which item denies the afflicted the chance to heal?

Answer: Numbing Mist

When colliding with an enemy, Numbing Mist denies that enemy any healing whatsoever for the next thirty seconds. This is crucial against Vicar Amelia, as she can heal for quite a lot if the player has no Numbing Mist. Against Bloody Crow of Cainhurst, skilled usage of Numbing Mist can deny him of his two Blood Vials, making the fight significant more approachable.

Numbing Mist can be purchased at the Hunter's Dream. Alternatively, a pack of three Numbing Mist can be looted inside the Cathedral Ward itself as the player arrives to it.
