Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In game, Martyr Logarius says: "Acts of goodness are not always wise, and acts of evil are not always foolish, but regardless, we shall always strive to be ____." What correctly fills in the blank?

Answer: Good

Although Logarius is an enemy to the player, objectively, it is not necessarily accurate to outright label him as evil. His clan essentially did invade Castle Cainhurst with the intention of committing genocide, so he definitely isn't Superman per se. He is very morally ambiguous, a sentiment backed up by his quote.
2. Martyr Logarius is fought directly on the very rooftop of Forsaken Castle Cainhurst. Of course, it's the roof of a tall, huge structure. It is possible for the player to take a death falling off of said structure. Can Martyr Logarius fall to his death as well?

Answer: No

There isn't much lore-wise to explain why, but mechanically speaking, there is an invisible wall that prevents Martyr Logarius from falling to his death, which does not stop the player from taking a tumble. Lore-wise, perhaps it could be argued that Martyr Logarius would be able to just levitate anyway, as one of his second phase attacks involves him ascending slowly, then crashing down on the player with a scythe swing.
3. What is Martyr Logarius weak to?

Answer: Nothing

Martyr Logarius is a human enemy, and human enemies are normally weak to Arcane. However, as an Arcane caster himself, Logarius is not afraid of this element. Interestingly, Logarius also boasts the single highest Poison resistance out of any human enemy in the game as well, and there are a lot of powerful human enemies in this game, so that's a notable claim to be certain.

Lacking any weaknesses is another reason, an underrated one at that, why Martyr Logarius is typically viewed as the base game's hardest boss.
4. Are there any Old Hunters available to assist with Martyr Logarius?

Answer: No

This is an interesting choice by From Software to not provide NPC help to the player. This is not a gimmick fight, so there shouldn't be any concern over if an NPC is properly equipped to deal with the fight. As well, Martyr Logarius was the leader of the Executioners, hated enemy of the Vilebloods, and he made plenty of enemies himself; there would surely be at least one Old Hunter with lore motivation for fighting him. This fight is definitely challenging enough to warrant a summon, as it's entirely possible, likely even, that newer players will take at least a few deaths trying to learn how to fight Martyr Logarius. Yet, there simply isn't a summon available for this fight.

Players can, however, summon each other for help. So, if struggling with this boss, which is very possible, it may be worthwhile trying to find a real person or two for aid.
5. Can Martyr Logarius be parried?

Answer: This is situational

During the entirety of first phase, Logarius has one melee attack which can be parried, always. After that is when things get situational...

If the player simply trades blows with Logarius, getting in quick hits to progressively wear him down, he will cast a buff at around 60% of his health bar and begin a second phase. If he successfully gets the buff off, he will be immune to being parried entirely until the buff fades. Alternatively, if the player happened to summon a friend to join them, one of these two players can backstab Logarius to immediately dispel his buff, rendering him susceptible to parrying.

There is a way to completely deny Logarius his buff, however, which would retain his vulnerability to parrying. If, instead of slowly wear Logarius down, the player strictly and only deals damage to his first phase through parrying him, he will never even attempt to buff himself. He straight up just won't bother.
6. At the beginning of his boss fight, Martyr Logarius is very sluggish, as he will simply walk towards the player very slowly and spend most of the first phase casting spells at them. One of the spells he casts is an enhanced version of a Hunter's Tool the player can get. Which of the following can Martyr Logarius cast?

Answer: Executioner's Gloves

Logarius is able to use his scythe as a casting catalyst, firing five skulls in the same manner the player uses Executioner's Gloves. The main difference, of course, is that the player version of Executioner's Gloves only fires three skulls, versus Logarius' five.
7. A character in this game considers themselves to be Logarius' protege. Who is this?

Answer: Old Hunter Alfred

Alfred frequently identifies himself as an Executioner, a group Martyr Logarius was once the leader of. Alfred speaks highly of "Master Logarius" and tells the player his main goal in life is, essentially, to carry on with Logarius' work before his martyrdom confined him to Castle Cainhurst.
8. Martyr Logarius was mortal enemies with the Vileblood covenant, the people who own Castle Cainhurst. Yet, as the player finds him, he is simply sitting in a chair on the rooftop of his enemies' headquarters. Why is Logarius even here?

Answer: He has imprisoned an enemy Vileblood here

The 'Martyr' in Martyr Logarius' title is entirely the reason he is positioned atop Castle Cainhurst.

The enemy he has imprisoned is Annalise, Queen of the Vilebloods. However, Logarius lacks the means to 'kill' her, as she is immortal. Per the game's lore, his workaround was to imprison and stand guard over where she was confined, for essentially the rest of eternity. In this way, though she was not killed, she may as well have been, as she had no way of escaping Logarius' confinement. That is, until the player comes along to finally kill Logarius properly.
9. Although Martyr Logarius' boss soundtrack may seem exclusive to himself, players who dig really, really, REALLY deep into this game will find that he actually shares it with another boss. Which boss has the same soundtrack as Martyr Logarius?

Answer: Yharnam, Pthumerian Queen

The journey just to reach Queen Yharnam is unbelievably, unfathomably, legendarily tedious. The player must complete three layers in every single type of Chalice Dungeon that exists. In doing so, they must continually complete "optional" side areas so that they have the components needed to go to the next Chalice, so really, this ends up being closer to four layers per Chalice. In practice, if you do this alone and play every day for about 2-3 hours, it would take you about two weeks to go start to finish and reach Queen Yharnam. That, of course, assumes that you never take any deaths and do not struggle with any one part about the Chalice Dungeons. The Defiled Dungeons alone will ensure that isn't the case for the vast majority of the playerbase.

This simple thing the two share in common would go on to spawn endless theories about the true origin of Logarius. There is no confirmed connection between Yharnam and Logarius, but there are basically endless amounts of coincidences that could serve as connections to those with wild enough imaginations. For example, Logarius and Yharnam have the very same exact skin color tone, and many of the smaller bosses working under Queen Yharnam, such as the Pthumerian Descendant, happen to have the exact same voice actor (Daniel Fine) as Martyr Logarius.
10. On defeating Martyr Logarius, he drops something mundane in appearance that happens to be fairly special. What does he drop?

Answer: Crown of Illusions

The Crown of Illusions is needed to access Annalise and join the Vileblood covenant. By simply equipping the headpiece while in Logarius' boss room one time, the entrance to the Vileblood Throne is revealed. The headpiece does not need to be equipped or re-equipped to get the Throne to continually appear and reappear, the one time will do.

Though Logarius wields a scythe, the Burial Blade scythe belongs to Gehrman, the First Hunter. The Burial Blade's blade is much, much thicker than Logarius' scythe, and the weapon is a Trick weapon to boot.
