Question 1 of 10
1. This area is labeled the 'Forbidden' Woods. Who or what has attempted to 'forbid' someone from entry? Hint

Question 2 of 10
2. Not too deep into the area, the player can encounter the Suspicious Beggar at a windmill. When they find this man, he is inside of a room with corpses strewn about, and he is caught red-handed (or mouthed) actively devouring one of them. Clearly, this is no ordinary man. What is the Suspicious Beggar actually? Hint

Question 3 of 10
3. The Suspicious Beggar will ask the player if they know of any safe havens they could recommend to him. This can be a bit dicey, as if the player tells him to go somewhere specific, it can easily result in the deaths of numerous NPCs. To avoid any unwanted NPC deaths, where should the player recommend he goes?

Question 4 of 10
4. It doesn't take long to find out why so much effort was spared to keep these woods hidden from public view. According to the Butcher cosmetic set, looted here in Forbidden Woods, what happens to beasts which are caught by hunters in this area? Hint

Question 5 of 10
5. If the player feels there are too many enemies for them to deal with, they can use the classic strategy of causing in-fighting and proceeding forward with the distraction covering their tracks. Which groups of enemies will fight each other here? Hint

Question 6 of 10
6. Though it can be tricky to find, the player can actually use Forbidden Woods to access a section off part of an earlier area in the game. Without the need to teleport, where can the player quickly go from Forbidden Woods? Hint

Question 7 of 10
7. Standing right next to the main shortcut in Forbidden Woods is Valtr, Master of the League. Valtr can recruit the player to the League. How does the player advance their standing in the League? Hint

Question 8 of 10
8. Curiously, upon meeting the player, Valtr's title is "Master of the League." When the player maxes out the League and then talks to Valtr, after some dialogue, his title will change. What is Valtr's new title?

Answer: (Two Words - 'B'e at 'E'ase and try to remember it...)
Question 9 of 10
9. If the player either satisfies Valtr completely, or takes it upon themselves to simply butcher the man, he will either leave or be killed. Upon either of these happening, a new NPC seemingly appears from nowhere to attack the player. Who does this? Hint

Question 10 of 10
10. Who is the boss of Forbidden Woods? Hint

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. This area is labeled the 'Forbidden' Woods. Who or what has attempted to 'forbid' someone from entry?

Answer: Healing Church

The Healing Church placed a protective ward denying entry to anyone other than those who knew the password. The player, at this point, has gone on a small journey to kill Vicar Amelia and obtain the "fear the old blood" password.

Answer: An Abhorrent Beast

Other than through the Suspicious Beggar, the player cannot actually encounter an Abhorrent Beast outside of the Chalice Dungeons. In any event, the Suspicious Beggar appears as an ordinary man, but if the player attacks him a couple of times, he will shed the facade and begin to fight back.

Interestingly enough, the Suspicious Beggar as a human wears the Harrowed Robes, an article of clothing unobtainable outside of the DLC.

Answer: Iosefka's Clinic

If the player sends him to the Oedon Chapel, he can and likely will murder at least one NPC there, possibly numerous others if the player doesn't correct their mistake in time. After sending him to Oedon Chapel, he will kill one NPC every time the player defeats a boss. There are a maximum of five NPCs other than him who can be here, so if the player sends him to Oedon Chapel, then kills five bosses, they may be quite surprised to return to Cathedral Ward only to find a bunch of death staring them in the face.

If the player has sent him to Oedon Chapel, it is possible to prevent him from killing anyone if they act quickly. If the player returns to Cathedral Ward before killing any bosses, they can just kill Suspicious Beggar here to intervene and prevent him from killing anyone himself.

If sent to Iosefka's Clinic, he will go there and be unable to kill anyone. Iosefka will perform human experimentation on him, after presumably sedating and/or kidnapping him, and will turn him into a Celestial Emissary. The player can find him in this state if they go to Iosefka's Clinic after sending him there.
4. It doesn't take long to find out why so much effort was spared to keep these woods hidden from public view. According to the Butcher cosmetic set, looted here in Forbidden Woods, what happens to beasts which are caught by hunters in this area?

Answer: They are experimented on

It is worth noting that, other than the Suspicious Beggar, there are actually no beast enemies in this area whatsoever. This is one of just two areas in the game that can make that claim, and the other in Forsaken Castle Cainhurst is completely isolated from the entire rest of the game.

The results of said experimentation can be found, to an extent, examining corpses around the area as well as battling the monsters which once made up villagers. They are covered or stuffed to the brim full of snakes or other serpentine aspects. How exactly this experimentation was performed is unclear.
5. If the player feels there are too many enemies for them to deal with, they can use the classic strategy of causing in-fighting and proceeding forward with the distraction covering their tracks. Which groups of enemies will fight each other here?

Answer: Yharnamites vs anything

In this area, there are a litany of different Snake type enemies- Snake Balls, Greater Snake Balls, Snake Parasites and Snake Larva. All of them can be driven to fight any Yharnamites in the area, and they will get aggressive with said enemies just by being close to them. As such, the player can find a group of Yharnamites and lure them over to a Snake enemy and watch the chaotic, confused chaos between the two sides ensue.

The Snake enemies will basically always win in the end unless the player 'helps' the Yharnamites, so this should be used as a distraction, and the player should not actually anticipate the Yharnamites to kill the Snake enemies they're led to.
6. Though it can be tricky to find, the player can actually use Forbidden Woods to access a section off part of an earlier area in the game. Without the need to teleport, where can the player quickly go from Forbidden Woods?

Answer: Central Yharnam

There is a small cave in Forbidden Woods home to two Church Giants. The player can skip fighting the Giants entirely and make for a ladder in the back of the cave. By climbing it, the player will end up in the courtyard area of Iosefka's Clinic in Central Yharnam. This area is unreachable through ordinary means in the beginning of their playthrough, but accessing it just once can let the player open a locked gate to enable flexible entry to the courtyard of Iosefka's Clinic from anywhere in Central Yharnam.

The purpose of doing this, generally, is to obtain the Cainhurst Summons, potentially to fight Iosefka or her Imposter as well if the player would like. It is also here that the player can encounter Celestial Emissary versions of any NPC they sent to Iosefka's Clinic.
7. Standing right next to the main shortcut in Forbidden Woods is Valtr, Master of the League. Valtr can recruit the player to the League. How does the player advance their standing in the League?

Answer: Help other players kill bosses/invaders

The League is a very, very short covenant with only one milestone and one set of rewards for reaching that milestone. To max it out, the player must be summoned by another player, then help cumulatively kill three bosses or players who invade the host. Upon doing one or the other, the League member will receive one Vermin item. With the Vermin item, they must simply use it, which will involve the character visually taking the Vermin out, throwing it on the ground and stomping it out. Note that the player must have equipped the Impurity Rune, which will be given to them freely by Valtr, before engaging in multiplayer play to obtain a Vermin.

After using three Vermin, the player can return to Valtr with their standing in the League maxed.
8. Curiously, upon meeting the player, Valtr's title is "Master of the League." When the player maxes out the League and then talks to Valtr, after some dialogue, his title will change. What is Valtr's new title?

Answer: Beast Eater

The title change is meant to reflect that, moving forward, it is the player and not Valtr who is the true master of the League. This is further reflected when Valtr rewards the player with his helm as well as the "League Oath" emote.
9. If the player either satisfies Valtr completely, or takes it upon themselves to simply butcher the man, he will either leave or be killed. Upon either of these happening, a new NPC seemingly appears from nowhere to attack the player. Who does this?

Answer: Younger Madaras Twin

The Younger Madaras Twin, in the context of this game, quite literally is just some random guy who happens to also be part of the League. There is no known reason why he just shows up to fight the player. It might make sense if he only attacked the player specifically if they kill Valtr, but he will show up even if they amicably satisfy Valtr and get him to leave Forbidden Woods that way too, so it doesn't make a ton of sense.

In any case, per his name, Younger Madaras Twin will make frequent use of the Madaras Whistle Hunter's Tool. When not spamming that, he wields a Hunter's Axe and Hunter's Blunderbuss, though he basically never ever uses the latter.

Perhaps more interestingly is that, if the player kills Younger Madaras Twin here, they will later gain his services as a helpful Old Hunter summon for multiple boss fights.
10. Who is the boss of Forbidden Woods?

Answer: Shadows of Yharnam

The Shadows of Yharnam tend to represent a decent difficulty spike at this stage of the game, primarily for solo players. This is a fight against three separate enemies, and all of them are capable of wracking up damage quickly, forcing the player to carefully plan out their engagements and monitor the status of all three enemies simultaneously.

If he was slain by the player earlier, Younger Madaras Twin can be summoned to help the player with this boss. Additionally, if the player killed Old Hunter Henryk as part of Eileen the Crow's questline earlier, Henryk can be summoned for help here as well. Note that the player will need the Impurity Rune actively equipped in order to summon Younger Madaras Twin.
