Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Batteroids, first encountered in the Tempest Layer, are foes covered in a substance that does which of these?

Answer: Sticks to things

The Tempest Layer introduces this new foe in the midst of all the inclement weather, and it's kind of odd since high winds would likely knock down any sort of flying critter. Instead, Batteroids are covered in the same sort of sticky goo that several past platforms have been, allowing DK to toss projectiles at them to bring them down.

When their sticky outer layer is dragged down, the golden creature inside will be revealed, leaving DK to punch them out to win the fight.
2. The Elephant Elder claims to have staked their claim as the best of which of these in the Tempest Layer?

Answer: Meteorologist

It won't be hard for DK to stumble upon Forecaster Refuge in Sublayer 900 since there's only a short trail that leads into this enclosed home city for the local elephants. Inside, the Elephant Elder's request will be clear-- find the Ancient Record and allow them to pursue their hobby of being a DJ; they'll give over the Elephant Bananza for doing so.

The problem is that the Ancient Record has been swept away by VoidCo's latest acquisition, so they'll point the way to the next objective.
3. How many times will DK face off against the Sinister Blusterwing in the Tempest Layer?

Answer: Three

VoidCo, making a mess of things wherever they go, will place one of its transformative masks on a local creature in order to help collect Banandium Gems and provide a suitable distraction, and thus the Sinister Blusterwing will be born. DK will find it, first, at the Caldera Altar, then again under Hot-Shower Cave, and then one last time at the end of the Layer, and in each case it will add to its arsenal of capabilities.
4. The Ancient Record for this Layer, as DK will find, is split into how many pieces?

Answer: Two

Heading down to Sublayer 901 in pursuit of the Sinister Blusterwing, DK and Pauline will find out that the Ancient Record is split in half (thankfully not thirds, like in the Freezer Layer), and while it's not still in the Sinister Blusterwing's possession as it heads even deeper into the Layer, they will need to locate the halves in two different spots within the super-hot Hot-Shower Cave.

It's a deeper part of the Sublayer, but fortunately, as long as the Record pieces are held overhead, DK can blast upward in rocket barrels to return them to the turntable above.
5. According to the local elements, which of these will show DK where it's safe to walk in Hot-Shower Cave?

Answer: Grass

Although Hot-Shower Cave, and most of Sublayer 901 for that matter, is covered floor-to-ceiling (in some cases) in lava, there are some small paths and platforms that are safe enough for DK to maneuver around, and the local elements will remind him that there are two ways to avoid the drops of lava that fall from above and gradually damage anyone in their path.

The first way, as noted, is to keep your eyes on the ground, as anywhere you see grass is a spot that's out of the path of the falling fire. Additionally, carrying a block of turf above your head can allow you to use it as an umbrella for cover.

It's especially helpful to employ the latter since turf will also work to help you traverse the area's unique ziplines.
6. The Elephant Bananza allows DK to do which of these things?

Answer: Inhale terrain

Once DK has the power of the Elephant Bananza bestowed upon him by the Elder of Tempest Layer, he'll be able to proceed at will deeper and deeper into the region's Sublayers, even though Sublayer 901 appears to be filled with lava. It's because the Elephant Bananza has the power to suck up any terrain put in front of him, and that includes valuable terrain like gold or dangerous terrain like lava.

In elephant form you can even use that terrain to make into projectiles, holding it over your head like regular turf.
7. The largest Fossil in this Layer appears to look like a former animal buddy, Enguarde. Which of these is he?

Answer: Swordfish

The massive Swordfish Fossil is located in the midst of all the lava coating the lower levels of the Hot-Shower Cave, and once DK has the Elephant Bananza in-hand, he can inhale all the dangerous terrain to get at the prize. The Fossils in this Layer all appear as animals-- Frogs (like Winky), Anglerfish (like Glimmer), and the singular Swordfish (Enguarde)-- and can be traded at the StyleTones in Forecaster Refuge and Jumbo Spa for fancy new outfits, per normal.
8. The Sinister Blusterwing, as is later revealed, is actually which of these?

Answer: A bird

By the time DK arrives on Sublayer 902 and speaks to the locals in the Jumbo Spa, he'll have faced the Sinister Blusterwing twice and it will have headed onward to the Stormy Station Research Outpost for a last stand. The catch is that this creature may not actually be so nefarious as the VoidCo mask placed on its face has changed its mood.

In actuality, the Singing Blusterwing is not normally sinister-- it's a local bird known for having control over the weather and for enjoying feasting on bananas. With luck, DK and Pauline can save it from its fate and restore the region to a less chaotic setting.
9. The lightning that DK encounters on Sublayer 902 strikes at random.

Answer: False

As DK proceeds from Jumbo Spa and heads across the clifftops to Stormy Station, he'll have to head across a number of floating islands that not only contain tornadoes, but significantly increased chances of freak lightning strikes. These aren't random, however.

Instead, the lighting will provide visual cues that follow DK along until finally stopping and striking, so as long as there's constant movement, the risk of being hit is quite low. Lightning will also be a non-issue if there's a roof (or cave) over your head.
10. Tempest Layer contains the most Sublayers of any Layer in "Donkey Kong Bananza".

Answer: False

There are four Sublayers in the Tempest Layer (Sublayers 900 through 903) but there are more Sublayers in both the Freezer Layer and Radiance Layer (at a start). This said, Tempest Layer is quite the expansive place as it stretches across lengthy reaches in Sublayers 900 and 902 and builds downwards through the lava tunnels in Sublayer 901.

The Layer ends with a typical boss battle against the Sinister Blusterwing beneath Stormy Station that opens up to a Sinkhole on Sublayer 903.
