Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Gloominoids are weakened by which of these?

Answer: Light

DK will land in Shedlight Cave when he arrives in the Radiance Layer, and when he does this he'll encounter his first new foes at this depth: Gloominoids. These scorpion-like creatures are weak to only one thing-- light-- and it means needing to create sources of bright light to have any chance of taking them out. Fortunately, some of the fixtures in this part of the Layer are breakable, having been placed there by VoidCo, and when they open up, it'll weaken these foes enough to fight. An adverse foe, the Illuminoid, appears on Sublayer 1203; these enemies are destroyed by shadows.
2. Sublayer 1201 contains all but which of these locations?

Answer: Window Viper

Past Shedlight Cave, DK will land in a much larger cavern on Sublayer 1201, emerging into Glowboa Cave to find a bright path that heads onward to the Layer's Elder. Here, it will become quickly apparent that the way forward is through a high-up Void Stake perched on an unreachable pillar, and the local creatures-- all snakes-- will suggest that getting more muscles will give DK the oomph he needs to climb (or jump) up to get deeper.
3. The Ancient Record in Radiance Layer is split into how many pieces?

Answer: Four

This being the fifth time around hunting down an Ancient Record, you should probably know the drill. This time around, the Elder, a massive snake, claims to be a lighting artist of unsurpassed skill...but also a musical artist and DJ (it's a trend!).

He'll indicate that the Ancient Record here is in four pieces, all of which need to be returned to him from their spots in his massive art installations. It'll mean making visits into the Pitch-Dark Pit and Sizzling Sunbath, Slithery Zipline, and Sidewinder Slide to collect them all.
4. The Snake Bananza, which DK receives in the Radiance Layer, not only allows him to jump higher, but also gives him what ability?

Answer: To slow down time

Once the Ancient Record is reassembled, DK will be able to transform into the Snake Bananza, the final major form he'll take on, and it'll give him the opportunity to climb the Constrictor Corridor and jump up to the Void Stake, granting passage down to Sculptor's Studio on Sublayer 1202.

The Snake Bananza gives DK powers that one would expect from Rattly in the old "Donkey Kong Country" games, chiefly the ability to spring-jump higher than normal. Additionally, the snake can use its powerful glare to slow down foes and environmental features, making it easier for DK to approach them if needed.
5. To bring the Radiance Layer back to its normal activities, DK needs to do which of the following on Sublayer 1202?

Answer: Restart the synthetic sun

From Sculptor's Studio, DK will be a stone's throw away from his next obstacle, a massive Solar Control Tower designed to hold and operate a synthetic sun that brings light to this otherwise dark and stuffy depth. To do this, DK will need to drop into the canyon below to reach the entrance, then ascend the tower from the inside platforms, getting rid of the void blocking the route to start it back up. Once it's on, DK can continue his descent.
6. Poppy Kong returns for a rematch in this Layer. When defeated, what does she decide to do?

Answer: Resign from her job

As Dk drops down from Sublayer 1202, he'll land in a battle arena for a rematch against Poppy Kong, last fought in the Freezer Layer. She'll reveal her new and improved VoidCo tech-- an upgrade to her Inviseaux Perfume that gives her super speed in addition to invisibility.

It won't necessarily stop the inevitable though; if DK punches her enough, the vial will break and the fight will end, leaving Poppy Kong to cut her losses, quit VoidCo altogether (there's no profit to be had!), and hand over a key to the Void Stake blocking Sublayer 1203.
7. The people of the Hiss Hiss Oasis inform Dk that the Serpent Sands are filled with which creatures?

Answer: Scorpions and Spiders

Scorpions and spiders makes a fair bit of sense since the Serpent Sands are the desert environment that one may not have expected dropping this deep through the caves of Radiance Layer, but the one that likely makes sense after the synthetic sun is turned back on from up in Sublayer 1202.

The scorpions here are the Illuminoids, but the spiders are Trapantuloids-- eight-legged enemies that contain items in their caged backs. To defeat these, they need to be attacked from their high tops. A few of these will also be found in earlier Sublayers, but the sands here (and the last stretch of the area) seem to have many more.
8. Where can you spend your Fossils in Radiance Layer?

Answer: Hiss Hiss Oasis

While Sculptor's Studio will contain a number of shopping Fractones, the only character selling new styles in the Radiance Layer won't appear until Hiss Hiss Oasis, where a snake has set up shop amongst the sand homes. Naturally, most of the new styles here will be geared towards the use of the Snake Bananza.

Radiance Layer's Fossils are all animal-themed with the most common being Banana Birds, the mid-tier ones being Armadillos, and the rarest being a massive Sea Urchin.
9. The denizens of Sublayer 1203 will alert DK to which of these odd occurrences, experienced from afar and indicative of something bad at the far end of the Radiance Layer?

Answer: Some sort of shaking

The creatures living in the Hiss Hiss Oasis will be candid about the new issues they've been facing because even with the sun back in the sky, there's still the problem of the realm-shaking quakes that have been taking place further past the Serpent Sands. To determine the cause, DK will need to cross the Window Viper using the region's Sun Stones and he'll need to traverse the Shade Clouds to reach Crystal-Cobra Den at the end of the Layer.
10. Grumpy Kong returns for a rematch at the end of the Radiance Layer. This time, he happens to be wearing which of these?

Answer: Helmet

Grumpy Kong, having previously been fought way back in the Canyon Layer, returns to do more of the same at the end of Radiance Layer, having been determined to be the partial cause of the quakes there, but the difference is that his new form is resistant to all attacks unless hit by sunlight (like the Gloomoids). DK can blast the ceiling with bombs to let the light in, climb on top, and strike. Keep in mind that you'll also need to knock off Grumpy Kong's light-weak helmet as well!

When beaten, Grumpy Kong will prove to be the second-worst problem of Radiance Layer as Pauline will get eaten up by a massive Harmoneel and DK will drop into the hole it creates, dropping to the next Layer on his own.
