Answer: Azure Core

On top of offering the most mana up front, Azure Core is also a scaling item where the buyer can earn even more Max Mana by simply killing minions, which they'll be doing a lot of anyway. As such, Azure Core first item is basically a no brainer for Gideon in virtually any context.

2. Tyranny is an item which gives the user a burst of a few different temporary stat enhancements whenever they activate their Ultimate Ability. Which character of the following can activate Tyranny multiple times in a single team fight?

Answer: Serath

While Rampage and especially Adele do make for good users of Tyranny, Serath is downright nasty with the item. As per her passive, Serath can kill or assist in a kill on someone, then collect the visage left behind from their death to automatically trigger her Ultimate. If, hypothetically, three enemies are involved in a fight with Serath and her teammates, she could activate Tyranny three separate times during the fight.

3. Let's say either you're tasked with a one-on-one against an especially tanky character such as Steel, or you simply notice the enemy team has a number of tanky characters on it. Which item of the following contains Anti-Tank properties?

Answer: Basilisk

Basilisk afflicts targets with the Eroded status, which greatly and continuously shreds their Armors. This is an excellent tool to knock a tank down a few pegs and make them approachable for the Fighter characters it is intended for. Characters such as Grux, Greystone or Khaimera are likely to purchase this item if facing a dilemma involving one or more tanky enemies.

4. Infamously, Narbash's Ultimate Ability is extremely easy to interrupt- this is its only notable weakness though. So, if a Narbash player was looking to correct this problem using only items from the Support category, what would they choose?

Answer: Truesilver Bracelet

Truesilver Bracelet is the ultimate item for Narbash, seemingly made specifically for him at that. With it in tow, the buyer receives a shield which is based on their Magical Power the moment they cast their Ultimate Ability. While the shield holds, the buyer is completely immune to Crowd Control effects, which would ordinarily be used to disrupt Narbash's Ultimate.

On top of giving Narbash much needed protection while using his Ultimate, the stats Truesilver offers are just perfect for him. As such, this is the first item Narbash players will buy to begin their game 99% of the time.

5. Tanks such as Adele or Riktor could see Offlane usage. They may want to enhance the speed at which they can clear minion waves, while also performing typical frontline duties later in the game for their team. Which item from the Tank category can help enhance the buyer's wave clear?

Answer: Fist of Razuul

The other three items which were wrong options are not even Tank class items. As such, they are remarkably poor fits for any characters who want to be tanky. Fist of Razuul is a Tank class item which uniquely offers the buyer a 25% added damage bonus against minions, enhancing their wave clear and capacity to farm for gold while giving the buyer the stats they need to be a tank.

6. Berserker's Axe is a Fighter class item intended for characters who can move quickly or jump quite high, as it gives the buyer a buff anytime they perform a leap or a dash. Which character of the following can consistently activate the buff conveyed by Berserker's Axe?

Answer: Zarus

Zarus has both a dash, via his Secondary Ability Evade, and his Ultimate Ability in Coliseum gives him a leap. As such, Zarus can make the most out of Berserker's Axe as either a Jungler or an Offlaner.

7. Let's say you're playing Feng Mao, and you want a little bit of protection from the opponent's high damaging Abilities without sacrificing your own damage output. Which Assassin class item can situationally block an Ability?

Answer: Mesmer

Mesmer is an Assassin class item with stats befitting an Assassin, with the added passive of giving the buyer a Spellshield. The Spellshield blocks one Ability, then undergoes a twenty second cooldown on doing so.

Spellbreaker also grants a Spellshield, but it is a Mage item, so it does not offer Feng Mao useful stats at all. Mesmer is clearly preferred to Spellbreaker for this reason. That said, a Mage like Renna who wants a Spellshield will go for Spellbreaker instead of Mesmer for straightforward reasons.

8. Wraith can be used as a Carry. One of his biggest weaknesses in this role is his mana economy in the early game. If Wraith wanted a Carry item to help him with his Mana issues, which item would he go for?

Answer: Resolution

Resolution is a Carry item where the buyer gains permanent Max Mana anytime they kill something, be it minion, monsters, objective or enemy player. It hard caps at 400, but by this point, the mana economy will not be an issue any longer, as 400 is more than enough.

As well, when reaching the hard cap of 400, the buyer gains a bonus to their Physical Power which is based on said Mana stat.

9. If you're a melee character wanting a little bit of protection while still prioritizing offensive damage output, which item of the following can help with this?

Answer: Onixian Quiver

Onixian Quiver is a firecracker of an item, with unique benefits melee characters can enjoy. In fact, the item has different benefits it conveys based on whether the buyer is a ranged or melee character. For melee characters, such as Greystone, it grants a hefty bonus to their Critical Chance and it gives them a small shield whenever they end up low on health.

The low health shield is actually incredible, and causes this item to be a sneakily good pairing with items like Aegis of Agawar or Salvation, which also provide protection when the buyer ends up low on health, while also being more offensively geared at that.

10. Finally, because the title of this quiz includes 'Ashkarath', let's end off with an Akeron-specific question. Akeron is a Tank who also highly values Ability Haste. Which item from the Tank category gives Ability Haste?

Answer: Elafrost

Elafrost and Akeron were a match made in heaven, as the item not only gives Akeron the absolute best stats he could ask for, it even gives a useful passive which synergizes nicely with Akeron's kit, slowing the enemy down and making it even easier for Akeron to catch up to them than it already is. As such, Elafrost is a very common sight on Akeron builds.

While Legacy, Stonewall and Transference are situationally useful Tank items, they do not give any Ability Haste whatsoever. Akeron really, really needs Ability Haste so that he can spam his Abilities as much as possible, as they are his main means of dealing damage and moving around the map. As such, Akeron players are unlikely to want to build these items, at least in the earlygoing before they have addressed Akeron's need for Ability Haste.
