Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Where does this boss fight take place?

Answer: Huntsman's Copse

This is the second of two boss fights to be found in the area. Clearing Skeleton Lords is required to advance to Harvest Valley, the next area, making them the 'mandatory' boss of the area, the counterpart to the optional Executioner's Chariot.
2. As the fight begins, there are three Skeleton Lords who immediately fight the player. When killing one of them, or even all three, the fight is hardly over. What happens when one of the Skeleton Lords is slain?

Answer: They turn into smaller skeletons

There are three Skeleton Lords. One wields a Great Scythe, another wields an unnamed talisman for casting Pyromancies, and the last one wields the Roaring Halberd. When the scythe wielder is slain, he is replaced by four Bonewheel Skeletons. When the halberd user is defeated, he is replaced by several scimitar-wielding skeletons. Finally, when the spell slinging Lord is defeated, he will be replaced by a great deal of skeletons armed with a Mailbreaker and a small shield.

The player is eventually required to kill all of the named enemies to win this fight. The key is limiting the skeleton spam by eliminating one Lord at a time, and before moving to kill the next Lord, destroying the aftereffect spawn of killing the previous Lord first.
3. Between the three Lords, despite one of them wielding a casting talisman, they are all capable of casting one particular Pyromancy. Which one is it?

Answer: Fireball

This basic Pyromancy really does not do much damage if it does manage to hit. The reason for this is that the entire fight actually subtly takes place in a small body of water, about ankle high, but still high enough to apply a 25% resistance to Fire to everything in the room.

This includes the player. The basic Fireball Pyromancy probably wouldn't hurt very much anyway, but the environment essentially renders it a non problem entirely.
4. Two NPC summons are available to help the player's numbers situation in this fight. One of them, Bashful Ray, can be freely summoned. The other has a prerequisite for summoning. Who is the other available NPC summon for this fight?

Answer: Creighton of Mirrah

In order to unlock Creighton's services, the player must free him from the Undead Lockaway he is trapped in. To do this, the player must go up a small hill which is just out of the line of main progression en route to the Skeleton Lords. They will know they've found the correct hill by the invasion of the NPC Merciless Roenna. Roenna spawns shortly in front of an item drop, the Undead Lockaway key. By retrieving the key, the player can go to a small hut in front of a locked door tied to a dark cave and unlock the hut.

Inside the hut is Creighton, who will be pleased that the player has freed him. After exhausting his dialogue here, he will be summonable for help with the Skeleton Lords.
5. Each skeleton in this fight carries a huge weakness. What is the biggest weakness of the Skeleton Lords?

Answer: Strike

Following fairly straightforward logic, it is indeed easier to kill a big thing of bones by smashing the bones into a fine dust. All skeletons involved in this fight have an obscene 50% weakness to Strike, the fourth largest weakness in this entire game for a boss to have. On the flip side, all skeletons carry a 40% resistance to Thrusting which, again, makes logical sense; it'd be hard to kill something by stabbing it, if said source of stabbing simply goes right through the open hole of a bone harmlessly.

It isn't possible for a skeleton to ever take zero damage, but clearly, clubs and greathammers will greatly outpace thrusting weapons in this fight.
6. Logically, Skeletons are resilient to thrusting weapons, but the Skeleton Lords specifically also carry a fairly deep resistance to one element. Which element should players refrain from bringing to this fight?

Answer: Magic

The Lords each carry a steep 50% resistance to Magic, a resistance so great it actually eclipses Scorpioness Najka's resilience to it. Yet, Najka has much, much more health than the Lords do, so it would arguably be easier to take them down than her with strictly Magic, if the player wanted to challenge themselves.

This is especially because the smaller skeletons do not carry the same resistance to Magic that their Lords do.
7. If the player is having issues dealing with the onslaught of skeletons, they could pack an item to help with crowd control. Which item, when thrown, will attract skeletons to its thrown location?

Answer: Alluring Skull

Alluring Skulls, as well as the Yearn Sorcery, can attract smaller skeletons to the target location for several seconds at a time. Notably, these do not work against the Lords, which can help if the player was trying to single out and eliminate them. It can help once the Lords are slain too, as the player can simply force the smaller skeletons in to an area, direct them away from the player themselves, then start smashing the distracted skeletons for free without fear of retaliation.
8. On defeat, the Skeleton Lords drop the Skeleton Lords Soul to the player. This can be converted into a weapon, incidentally one that one of the Lords wields. What weapon is it?

Answer: Roaring Halberd

The Roaring Halberd is a halberd with innate Dark damage, causing it to scale from Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence and Faith.

Sadly, like with all halberds, this one is immensely outclassed by the Blue Knight's Halberd to the point where there isn't much of a use for the Roaring Halberd. As such, unless trying to cosplay as a Skeleton Lord, the player should simply consume the Skeleton Lords Soul and receive a nifty 14,000 souls upon doing so.
9. If the Skeleton Lords are defeated on New Game Plus or higher, they will now also drop a ring on defeat. What ring is it?

Answer: Clear Bluestone Ring

The Clear Bluestone Ring significantly speeds the rate at which the player can cast spells. The one received through this fight is +2, the strongest of its kind. That makes this boss a very popular Bonfire Ascetic target for spellcasting players, as this ring is simply amazing for players wielding spells to deal direct damage.

It can also be of use to melee oriented players, making it easier to safely recast a buff spell in the middle of a fight.
10. Incidentally, the slaying of this boss updates Titchy Gren's shop by adding a new cosmetic set to it. What set is it?

Answer: Bone King Set

The Bone King set is the exact cosmetic set worn by the Skeleton Lords, making it possible to essentially 'cosplay' as a Skeleton Lord. The set itself has mostly very poor absorption stats even for its incredibly low weight class, but it strangely boasts an incredibly high absorption to Dark for its low weight.

This is strange, as the Lords do not strongly resist Dark, instead massively resisting Magic.
