Answer: Undead Crypt

Here, Velstadt has taken position guarding Vendrick, who is encountered in just the very next room.

Answer: Strike

This weakness to Strike is a pretty low 10%, so the player should not expect obscene numbers out of their club or great hammer, but it'll give them a bit of an edge nonetheless.

Velstadt is not weak to any element, but he is least resistant to Lightning.

Answer: Dark

When fighting Velstadt, he emits a shadowy aura and wields Dark from his melee weapon. This gives him a strong 50% resistance to Dark, making him difficult or at least annoying for Hex builds to deal with.

Answer: Devotee Scarlett

Just like Earthen Peak, Scarlett is an incredibly strong summon for the player to use. She is summoned basically at the start of Undead Crypt. However, she is so strong that she is virtually guaranteed to survive the trip to Velstadt's boss room, where she is a virtual certainty to survive that fight too. Conveniently, Scarlett wields a Mace, so she can exploit Velstadt's small weakness to Strike as well. As such, players struggling with Velstadt are highly encouraged to get Scarlett to assist them.

In addition to Devotee Scarlett, Grave Warden Agadayne can be summoned if the player exhausted his dialogue earlier in Undead Crypt.

Answer: He deals far more damage

This is a permanent buff which greatly increases Velstadt's damage output. Even players with large health bars are likely to be two shot by any attack in Velstadt's arsenal, especially his two-handed overhead slams using his massive hammer.

It does take an incredibly long time for Velstadt to start and then finish the buff, giving players a long, long time to lay into him with their hardest hitting attacks for free. However, he does take reduced damage while buffing, so players are unlikely to be able to kill him before he can finish.

Answer: Fume Knight

Fume Knight's name is Raime, and Raime and Velstadt once served Vendrick together. However, Raime one day became concerned for Vendrick's wife, queen Nashandra, believing her to be using Vendrick for personal, malicious benefit. After his pleas went unheard, Raime took matters into his own hands and dueled Velstadt. Raime lost and was banished from Drangleic as a result.

If the player equips the Helm of Velstadt and goes to fight Fume Knight, he will immediately begin the fight in his second phase, his deadliest and most challenging one at that.

This would give context as to why Fume Knight reacts with such rage and fervor upon seeing the Helm of Velstadt. Either he recognizes the player themselves has defeated Velstadt, and he has to go all out to prevent the same fate from befalling him, or Fume Knight just mistakes the player as being Velstadt and wants to exact his revenge.

Answer: Reduced stamina consumption

The Sacred Chime Hammer uses approximately 23% less stamina to swing than any other Greathammer, as all of the other ones consume stamina at the exact same rate.

This weapon hits like a truck. It does this despite being a bit problematic to manage the Durability on, and it does this despite having some really specific stat requirements.

Answer: Four

Sacred Oath is one of just two spells in the entire game, the other being Forbidden Sun, to demand four entire spell slots for use. This already makes it highly unwieldy and difficult to accommodate for players of any build. The effect is not even close to the four slot demand, granting the user and nearby allies a minor bonus to damage dealt and reduction to damage received for 30 seconds.

The application and benefit are pretty great. Who doesn't appreciate dealing more damage and receiving less damage from everything? However, the 30 second duration and four spell slot demand make this spell virtually unusable. Dedicated Miracle builds are not going to want to yield four entire slots for such a short lived benefit, and non-dedicated builds straight up will not be able to meet the four slot requirement. Worth noting is the Southern Ritual Band gives three free spell slots, which means the player would still need added Attunement investment along with this ring just to be able to fit Sacred Oath!

Answer: Royal Soldier's Ring

The Royal Soldier's Ring increases the weight capacity of the user, allowing them to more flexibly wear heavier armor and wield heavier weaponry without suffering a penalty. The version received from this fight is +2, the strongest of its kind. As such, players seeking to make tanky builds, or builds using heavy melee weaponry, are likely to save a Bonfire Ascetic for this fight.

Answer: Elana, the Squalid Queen

This takes place in Shulva, Sanctum City, part of the game's "Crown of the Sunken King" DLC.

After the player has been fighting Elana for a short time, she will randomly summon one of three units. She will either summon a small squad of skeletons, a group of tiny pigs, or she can straight up summon Velstadt himself to aid her.

It is not known if the Velstadt Elana summons is the real Velstadt, a copy of Velstadt, or some projection she was able to magically create of him. Regardless, her capacity to summon him at all does suggest Velstadt as having some kind of a connection to Shulva.
