Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Sigmund Freud and Jo-Fi (purple tongue)

Answer: Chow chow

Freud thought that Jo-Fi would move closer to patients as they became less stressed.
2. Winston Churchill and Rufus (bonjour)

Answer: Miniature Poodle

Churchill was known as an animal lover, and had a poodle named Rufus during the Second World War. He also owned cats, and is said to have cared for all the animals on his estate, including the swans and pigs.
3. Ronald Reagan and Lucky (Belgium)

Answer: Bouvier des Flandres

After several such incidents, Lucky was banished to the family ranch.
4. Mike Tyson and a tough guy's dog

Answer: Bullmastiff

However, he neglected the dog, and the breeder, Mimi Einstein of Allstar Kennels, a tiny woman, drove to his house and demanded the dog back!
5. John F. Kennedy and Charlie (Celtic, but not Irish)

Answer: Welsh Terrier

He used to swim with the President- an unusual feat for a terrier!
6. Pablo Picasso and Kabul (look at the name)

Answer: Afghan Hound

Picasso claimed that he would see Kabul in his mind while painting portraits, thus encouraging him to paint people with longer noses and finer, fluffier hair.
7. Napoleon Bonaparte was saved by one

Answer: Newfoundland

Napoleon slipped and fell from a boat and the Newfie saved him from drowning. Even this did not cure Napoleon's lifelong hatred of dogs.
8. Isaac Newton and Diamond (Baltic)

Answer: Pomeranian

Newton didn't get along well with people, but he loved his dog. In one often quoted incident, Diamond is said to have tipped over a candle that burned up several years of Newton's work on gravity- but he just commented that she couldn't know what damage she had done. This story is most likely apocryphal.
9. James Herriot and Bodie (on the edge)

Answer: Border Terrier

Herriot owned many dogs, but liked Bodie best.
10. E.B. White and Fred ( a hot dog?)

Answer: Dachshund

He once wrote that he'd rather train zebras to balance clubs on their noses than attempt to teach a Dachshund to do anything.
