Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Before Mila Kunis was a recognised name in Hollywood, she appeared as the eleven-year-old title character in a 1998 movie about a fashion model whose life was tragically cut short. Angelina Jolie stars in this movie and Mila plays the same character, just a little earlier on in her life. What was the name this movie?

Answer: Gia

"Gia" (1998) follows the true story of Gia Carangi, a young woman who follows her dream to become one of the world's most famous fashion models. Unfortunately, her high-flying life ends up being her downfall when she becomes involved in drugs and dies of AIDS at the age of 26.

Despite playing an eleven-year-old character, Mila was fourteen years old when "Gia" was released in January, 1998. Mila started acting at the age of nine after her father enrolled her at the Beverly Hills Studios, an after-school acting class.
2. Mila's breakthrough role was in the Fox sitcom, "That '70s Show" (1998-2005) alongside Ashton Kutcher, Topher Grace and Laura Prepon. What was her character's name?

Answer: Jackie

Even though there was a minimum age limit of eighteen to apply for the role of Jackie Burkhart, Mila landed it at just fourteen (without telling the producers her real age). When they eventually found out, they kept her in the role as they liked her so much.

Her character, Jackie, was popular at school, spoiled and never says the right thing, often offending her friends just because she is being honest. She picked up various nicknames throughout the seasons including: "Ice Princess", "The Don" and "Satan's Child".

Another interesting nickname fact - Mila was nicknamed "Husky" by her co-star Laura Prepon. This was due to having different coloured eyes - green and blue - reminding Laura of the beautiful Husky breed of dog.
3. In 2001, Mila had a small role in the teen comedy "Get Over It" with Kirsten Dunst, Ben Foster, Shane West and Martin Short. Which Shakespearean play is this film based on? Hint - it is also the play being put on by the students in this movie.

Answer: A Midsummer Night's Dream

In "Get Over It" she plays the role of Basin, the best friend of Kirsten's leading lady. Mila followed this up with the straight to DVD release of "American Psycho II: All American Girl" (2002), a sequal to Christian Bale's critical success. Unfortunately, this film was panned by most critics and Mila once said she was embarrassed to have had anything to do with this movie.
4. Mila's voice was the star in the animated comedy series "Family Guy" (1999-2010). Despite being part of the Griffin family, her character is seen as the loser of the bunch and is always made fun of, regularly being mistaken for a boy. What is the name of the character Mila plays?

Answer: Meg Griffin

The character of Meg was originally played by actress Lacey Charbert but she left the show after the first season due to school work and other filming conflicts. Mila was fifteen at the time of auditioning, so she was well-suited to the character's age & voice; however, she spoke too quickly and had to be called back several times before she landed the part.
5. It's not just TV and film that Mila has lent her talent to. In 2006 she provided the voice of Tanya Winters in a computer game based around fighting and winning gang wars in the fictional city of Stilwater. What game is this?

Answer: Saint's Row

In "Saint's Row" you play as a new member of the 3rd Street Saints, a gang looking for domination of the city by bringing down the other gangs rivaling for power.
6. Mila really hit the big time thanks to her role as the gorgeous hotel receptionist Rachel, in the Nicholas Stoller comedy "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" (2008). Her character, Rachel, had trouble in the past with ex-boyfriends not treating her well so she was unsure about a possible relationship with one of the other characters in the movie. Which character was that?

Answer: Peter (Jason Segel)

Rachel's ex-boyfriend took a photo of her flashing the camera and refused to give it back. Peter stole that photo back for her and that was what made up her mind about him. Mila originally auditioned for a role in "Knocked Up" (2007), a Judd Apatow movie about an accidental pregnancy, but the lead eventually went to Katherine Heigl.

However, she did impressed Apatow enough for him to give her the role of Rachel in "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" (2008), which he co-produced. She was nominated for a Teen Choice Award for her role.
7. Mila played the character of feisty assassin Mona Sax in which 2009 film? Hint - The movie was based on a game and co-starred Mark Wahlberg.

Answer: Max Payne

Despite being successful at the box office, many reviewers and fans of the game thought Mila was miscast in this role. However, director John Moore defended his choice and she was even nominated for a Teen Choice Award.
8. In 2007, Mila appeared with James Franco on the website "Funny or Die" performing in a parody of the MTV show, "The Hills" (2006). Shawn Levy was so impressed with their on-screen chemistry that he gave them both a role in his 2010 movie "Date Night" about a married couple who are mistaken for two thieves. What roles did Mila and James play in the movie?

Answer: The real thieves

In "Date Night" (2010), Mila and James play Whippet and Taste, two lovers who steal from a crime boss and find some very good luck when Phil and Clarie Foster, a married couple looking to spice up their relationship, take their table at a restaurant and become the target of corrupt police offices.
9. In 2010, Mila starred in a post-apocalyptic adventure starring Denzel Washington and Gary Oldman about a lone wanderer who protects a very important possession. She play the character of Solara, the daughter to the lover of an evil gang boss who uses her to seduce Denzel's character (I say this because his character's name is in the title of the movie). What is the name of this movie?

Answer: The Book Of Eli

"The Book Of Eli" (2010) took an estimated $157m worldwide so was one of Mila's biggest movies. It was directed by the Hughes Brothers and it was their first film since the Johnny Depp movie, "From Hell" (2001).
10. Mila was nominated for a Golden Globe for her performance as Lily in which 2010 Darren Aronofsky movie, telling the story of rival ballet dancers?

Answer: Black Swan

"Black Swan" (2010) focused on the character of Nina (played by Natalie Portman) who wins the lead role in the ballet "Swan Lake." As the role requires more emotion than she is used to, she has to get in contact with her darker side, to dramatic effect as she also has to contend with the new dancer, Lily.

In order to play the role of Lily, Mila went through a tough training regime which included 4 hours of ballet a day, lots of exercise and a strict diet.
