Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. On "Noddy's Toyland Adventures," what was the name of Noddy's clumsy, four-legged friend?

Answer: Bumpy Dog

Based on the "Noddy" stories by Enid Blyton, "Noddy's Toyland Adventures," chronicled the adventures of the helpful doll with the red and yellow car.
2. What was the name of the snake on "The Animals of Farthing Wood"?

Answer: Adder

The show was broadcast in over 40 countries! Unlike most cartoons, the show featured an on-going narrative with a strong ecological message. The show was not squeamish about killing off major characters.
3. Who was the fattest of the "Poddington Peas"?

Answer: Dump-Pea

See how the naming works? Other naming highlights include detective Snoop-Pea, photographer Snap-Pea, and the young Pup-pea!
4. Who considered himself the cleverest of all the Smurfs in the TV show of the same name?

Answer: Brainy Smurf

Whilst nearly all the Smurfs were named after their defining adjective, the word "smurf" could be used to replace seemingly any verb, leaving the viewer to understand the meaning from context. Therefore, "I'm going to smurf my bicycle" would make as much sense as "I'm going to smurf this bowl of cereal" or "I'm going to smurf you tomorrow."
5. Who was the strongest of the Mr. Men in the "Mr. Men" TV series?

Answer: Mr. Strong

The "Mr. Men" franchise was inspired by a question posed to creator Roger Hargreaves by his son Adam: "What does a tickle look like?" The elder Hargreaves drew Mr. Tickle and wrote a story about him, and decades later there are countless books, five TV series and 80 licensees selling "Mr. Men" and "Little Miss" products.
6. Who was the giraffe on "Old Bear Stories"?

Answer: Jolly Tall

"Old Bear Stories" was a BAFTA winning stop-frame TV show based on the "Old Bear and Friends" books by Jane Hissey. Like "Toy Story," the show was about the adventures toys would get up to when people weren't about.
7. "Funnybones" was a cartoon about a big skeleton, a little skeleton and their skeletal dog. What was the big skeleton's name?

Answer: Big

Based on the books by Janet and Allan Ahlberg, "Funnybones" focused on Big and Little and their pets, Dog and Cat. Strangely, Cat was the only one on the show who was not a skeleton.
8. Who was the athlete on "The Family-Ness"?

Answer: Sporty-Ness

"You can knock it,
You can rock it,
You can go to Timbuktu,
But you'll never find a Nessy in the zoo!"

Again, each member of the Ness family was named after their defining tribute. "Eyewit-Ness" might have been testing this rule. The policeman who didn't believe in Nessies was the excellently-named Sergeant MacFuzz.
9. On "Camberwick Green," who lived in the windmill?

Answer: Windy Miller

Windy Miller lived in a windmill, and is probably the best-remembered character from "Camberwick Green," as none of the other characters used such simple mnemonics.
Sister series "Trumpton" is best remembered for the fire brigade roll-call of "Pugh, Pugh, Barney McGrew, Cuthbert, Dibble, Grubb." Many British people will remember this purely because of how often the drill was repeated.
10. Which of the following characters would you expect to find delivering mail in the TV show of the same name?

Answer: Postman Pat

To paraphrase Milton Jones: "The trouble with television is that it's too aspirational. You watch a show and end up thinking 'That guy's better looking than me, he's got a better job, a nicer car... He's got a cat called Jess..."

Pat's last name is Clifton and he delivers mail in the fictional town of Greendale.
