Astana is the capital of Kazakhstan and the second largest city in the country behind Almaty. Originally established in 1830 as Akmoly, the city was renamed Astana in 1998, a year after it was made Kazakhstan's new capital due to the fact that it had developed economically.

It is a very modern city, full of skyscrapers and extensive healthcare and education systems. In 2019, the city was renamed Nursultan after the President.
