The Scottish National Library is located on George IV Bridge, just around the corner from the Royal Mile. Only 180 copies of the Gutenberg Bible were printed, of these only around 50 still exist and only 20 remain complete. The Scottish National Library is fortunate to hold one of the intact Bibles.

At 2am on Wednesday 8 February 1587, Mary Queen of Scots composed her last letter six hours before her execution. This letter which is addressed to Henri III of France, brother of her first husband, is housed in the library along with an English translation.

Answer: Edinburgh's most famous department store

Charles Jenner and Charles Kennington were dismissed from their employment as drapers in Leith Walk for taking a day off to go to Musselburgh races. In 1838 they opened a shop at 47 Princes Street which turned into Jenners, the best known and most prestigious of Edinburgh's shops.

In 2005 Jenners, by then the oldest independent department store in the world, had been purchased by House of Fraser, ending 167 years of family-run business.

Actor Sean Connery named his now defunct production company, "Fountainbridge Films" after the district of Edinburgh he grew up in. Ronnie Corbett the comedian and Ken Buchanan the boxer are both from Edinburgh, however former Prime Minister Tony Blair, although educated in the city, is English.

It is debatable whether Powderhall is better known for its greyhound racing, or the world famous Powderhall Sprint. On New Years Day for over 100 years an open 110 yards race, was held at Powderhall beginning back in 1870. in 1922, the great Eric Liddell of "Chariots of Fire" fame ran and won two amateur races at Powderhall. From 1977 until 1995 Edinburgh Monarchs speedway team reintroduced motorbike racing to Edinburgh at the stadium.

Answer: The Inch

Many of the street names in The Inch replicate the legends, adventures and exploits of author Sir Walter Scott's best known fiction. Places such as Redgauntlet Terrace, Bellenden Gardens, Saddletree Loan, Durward Grove, Ivanhoe Crescent and of course Walter Scott Avenue abound.

Located in the middle of Holyrood Park, Arthur's Seat is an extinct volcano that last erupted about 350 million years ago. Hundreds of tourists and locals climb to the easily accessible summit every day.

Tartan Street might be a more suitable name for this stretch of the capital judging by the number of Scottish souvenir shops that have appeared in recent years.

Greyfriars Bobby was a Skye Terrier who was reputed to have stayed by his master's grave for 14 years. Bobby has been immortalised by Hollywood and also has a statue commemorating his exploits outside the Greyfriars Kirkyard in Edinburgh. A stuffed Dolly the Sheep is just a stone's throw away across the street from Greyfriars Bobby in the Scottish Museum. Voytek was a bear who fought along side Polish soldiers at the Battle of Monte Cassino during World War II.

He spent his latter years in Edinburgh Zoo.

As for Sean Connery's milk horse, well nothing is known of its current whereabouts.
