Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who meets Ariston in the British Museum?

Answer: Zeljan Kurst

Julia Rothman is killed in "Scorpia". Razim is the leader of the Horsemen and Levi Kroll is shot in France. Zeljan Kurst is the head of the criminal organization SCORPIA (which stands for Sabotage, Corruption, Intelligence and Assassination.
2. What is the first name of prisoner who escapes from the prison in Gibraltar?

Answer: Julius

All of these names are used by Julius Grief for his clones (Point Blanc). Julius escapes by getting a gun from Scorpia and threatening to use it against his psychiatrist, Dr Flint. He is there as he is dangerous to society, being the clone of the villain Dr Grief.
3. Who persuades Alex Rider to go to Cairo on a mission?

Answer: Alan Blunt

Alan Blunt sends an agent to fire at Alex but not kill him. This is effective since it seems someone with a grudge has sent a sniper to kill him. Alex, therefore, needs to get out of the country.
4. Who is Alex's backup in Egypt?

Answer: Smithers

Ms Jones suggests Smithers goes to Egypt as Alex is quite fond of him. Smithers is also quite useful as he is what James Bond would call 'Q'. (Smithers is the gadget master if you don't understand 'Q'.)
5. What is Smithers' final, most shocking gadget in this novel?

Answer: A fat suit

A trap door is used to get rid of the delivery man and the itching powder to get rid of two more people while the others are just ones which I imagined would be in a Grade 1 safe house such as in Baghdad. Smithers, unknown to Alex until this novel, is actually a thin man, not a fat man as he originally thought.
6. What does Razim first say to Alex when he is in the torture room?

Answer: Are you afraid, Alex?

Razim says all of these things, but this is what he says first. This are all said when Razim tortures Alex at his compound for his 'measure of pain' experiments.
7. How does Alex get rid of Erik Gunter?

Answer: A scorpion

Erik Gunter is an assassin working for the terrorist organization "SCORPIA". Alex gets a scorpion from Siwa and places it in a box and sneaks it into the van and persuades Gunter to open the box. The surprise stings...
8. How did Jack Starbright "die"?

Answer: Car explosion

Jack does not really die. However, it seems like she is after Razim edits some footage in order to torture Alex. Alex found out that Jack was still alive in "Never Say Die". Alex cares perhaps the most than any other character in the series as she is the legal guardian for Alex since he was small.

As Mrs Jones puts it, "Jack Starbright was more than a housekeeper. She was his closest friend. She was the only adult friend he had. Certainly the only adult he could ever trust."
9. What was the name of the school that Alex went to there?

Answer: CICAE

CICAE stands for Cairo International College of Arts and Education. MI6 arrange for Alex to investigate the CICAE and Erik Gunter as a student.
10. Why does Alex Rider go to the House of Gold?

Answer: Following a possible assassin

Gunter buys a sniper rifle at the House of Gold, a floating armaments workshop, and then blows up the House of Gold, causing Alex to be swept into the Nile.
