Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Ok to start this quiz out let's get a little background information on that clownfish named Nemo. What character in the movie came up with the name Nemo?

Answer: his mother

Nemo was the only egg that survived an attack on his mother and siblings so his father named him Nemo, because his mother liked the name. By the way, did you know that some types of clownfish can lay as many as 2,000 eggs at a time!
2. Where did Nemo and his family live?

Answer: in an anemone

Anemones, like the one Nemo's family lived in, are actually living animals. If people were to touch an anemone they would be stung but the fish who live in them seem to become immune to their stinging tentacles after a period of time. That is why sometimes clownfish are called anemone fish.
3. What was the name of the city that Nemo was taken to?

Answer: Sydney

How could anyone forget this answer after listening to Dory repeat "P. Sherman, 42 Wallaby Way, Sydney", like, 400 TIMES! Sydney is in Australia, about 2000 km away from of one of the most incredible underwater worlds on earth, the Great Barrier Reef. It has the most diverse animal and plant ecosystems on the planet. It's a great place for a fish like Nemo.
4. So once little Nemo is captured, his father embarks on a journey across the ocean to find Nemo and bring him home. What is the name of the little blue fish who helps him along the way?

Answer: Dory

Dory is a Regal Blue Tang fish, which is a type of fish that can be found easily at most pet stores, in case you were interested in purchasing a Dory of your own.
5. Another friend that Marlin meets on his journey is Crush, a sea turtle. On Nemo's request, Marlin asks Crush how old he is. What is Crush's response?

Answer: 150

Marine turtles are one of the Earth's oldest creatures. Some scientists estimate that they appeared 230 million years ago, making them 224 million years older than humans! There are seven species of sea turtles and while their life span is not exactly known, it is believed that they live to be about 80-100 years old, making Crush a very old turtle!
6. What is the name of the starfish that watches the dentist's movements from its spot on the aquarium wall?

Answer: Peach

There are several types of starfish but Peach is probably a Pink Star or "Pisaster brevenspinus".
7. What did Nemo call his right fin?

Answer: his lucky fin

Nemo's right fin was smaller than his left fin and because of this, Nemo's dad always believed that he was a weak swimmer. However, through the course of the movie, Nemo proves that he isn't going to let his little fin keep him from big adventures. I'm assuming that the reason the one fin was shorter had something to do with the attack in the beginning of the movie, but that's only speculation.
8. Now can you tell me what was the blue fish's medical problem?

Answer: short-term memory loss

She had a problem with short-term memory loss. Generally short-term memory loss occurs in older people but it can occur after a traumatic event or a blow to the head. The cause of Dory's memory loss was never fully explained in the movie but we do know that it is easier for her to remember things when she is around Marlin.
9. There's another character in the movie who has a problem. His name is Bruce and he is a recovering fish eater who attends meetings where they repeat the mantra "Fish are our friends, not food!" What type of animal is Bruce?

Answer: Great White Shark

Great White Sharks are also known as White Pointer and White Death Sharks. They are widely considered to be the most dangerous breed of shark as they can swallow creatures up to half their size whole, especially seals, dolphins, turtles, other sharks, and fish.

They are also one of the few breeds that can lift their head out of the water. So all things considered, Bruce was unusually friendly for his breed of shark.
10. By the end of the movie, did all of the fish that were in the aquarium with Nemo manage to escape from the tank into the ocean?
