The album debuted at #3 on the Billboard Top 200 Chart. With over 1,000,000 copies sold, the album was certified Platinum in the United States.

"Light On" was released on September 30, 2008. "Declaration" debuted when David appeared on "Saturday Night Live" on November 1, 2008. The song "Permanent" was first performed during the "American Idol" season finale for season 8. "Bar-ba-sol" was released as a single in March 2009.
