Answer: Revolver

The Beatles released "Revolver" in 1966. It stayed in the British charts for 34 weeks at the time and has been heralded as one of the first psychedelic albums. It ranks highly in many music "Best Ever Album" lists. The photo shows a US Civil War era revolver, a type of pistol.

Answer: Pink Floyd

Pink Floyd formed in 1965 and were producing studio albums until 1994. Pink Floyd's "The Dark Side of the Moon" was released in 1973 during Roger Waters' song writing era. More than 50 million copies of the album have been sold. It is one of Billboard 200's longest charting albums with over 800 weeks in the album charts over the years. The two singles released from the album were "Time" and "Money".

Answer: The Joshua Tree

This is the album that made superstars of U2. It was their fifth studio album and has sold in excess of 25 million records. Hit singles coming from the album were the first three tracks: "Where the Streets Have No Name", "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For", and "With or Without You", released in reverse order.

The photograph shows examples of Joshua trees which are mostly found in the Mojave Desert in USA, which is where you will find the Joshua Tree National Park.

British band Radiohead were formed in 1985 although they did not produce their first single "Creep" until 1992. "OK Computer", their third studio album, was released in 1997 and is considered by some to be one of the leading albums from the 1990s. Singles from the album included "Paranoid Android", "Karma Police", and "No Surprises".

The photograph shows two knights clashing in a tournament probably sometime after the formation of the British punk band in 1976. The band's third album "London Calling" was released in 1979 and is rated highly by Rolling Stone magazine, amongst others. The band had a strong leftist stance and were sometimes referred to as "the thinking man's yobs". The band broke up in 1986.

Starting off with the name "The Rain", the band was formed in 1991. Joining shortly after, Noel Gallagher took on leadership of the band and "Definitely Maybe" was their 1994 debut album, receiving much critical acclaim. The album is said to have re-awakened interest in British guitar bands and went on to sell over 15 million copies. An acrimonious split between the Gallagher brothers led to the band break up in 2009.

The 1966 "Pet Sounds" album was not particularly commercially successful on its release in USA however it was soon heralded as a milestone rock album, influencing many bands including the Beatles. It was one of the albums heralding the psychedelic rock style. The band responsible was the American rock band The Beach Boys, which was formed in 1961. Brian Wilson, main songwriter for the band, created the album as a cohesive work rather than the norm, which was for a series of singles with filler tracks.

British alternative rock band The Smiths were active from 1982 to 1987 and were fronted by lead singer Morrissey. "The Queen is Dead" was their third studio album and was first released in 1986. With chart success primarily in the UK, the album was placed at the top of NME's 2013 list of 500 greatest albums of all time. The photograph is of a blacksmith's workshop.

The 1987 album "Document" comes from American alternative rock band R.E.M and was their breakthrough album, making pointed political statements. Singles released from the album were "The One I Love", "It's the End of the World as We Know It (And I Feel Fine)", and "Finest Worksong". R.E.M. was formed in 1980 and disbanded in 2011.

Its two most commercially successful albums were "Out of Time" (1991) and "Automatic for the People" (1992).
