Answer: Knights of the Garter

Edward was also known as Edward of Woodstock after his birthplace. He was the father of Richard II of England. He was the first Knight of the Garter (an order formed by his father).

The Knights of the Round Table were the companions of the legendary King Arthur.

The Military Knights of Windsor were originally known as the 'Poor Knights' and were formed to support the Knights of the Garter.
2. This Edward ruled for 35 years as Edward I of England. He was also known by another name, referring to his unusual height. What was this name?

Edward I was also known as the 'Hammer of the Scots' due to his harsh treatment of that country (including the capture of the 'Stone of Destiny' the traditional seat where Scottish kings were crowned).

It is estimated that he was over 6 feet 2 inches tall which would have been highly unusual in the time that he lived. He was married to Eleanor of Castile and they had at least 14 children. Edward ordered a cross to mark the place where the cortege rested each night on its return to London - these became known as the Eleanor crosses (Charing Cross in London was named after one of these crosses).
