Theodore Roosevelt was born in New York City on October 27, 1858. He served as Governor of New York from 1899-1900, and was Vice President under William McKinley in 1901 before becoming President after McKinley's assassination. He served as President of the United States from 1901-1909.
In 1906 he won a Nobel Peace Prize for mediating the end of the Russo-Japanese war. Roosevelt passed away from a blood clot in 1919.
