Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Find the nickname Ezekiel might be given in this day and age.

Answer: Bones

It's highly possible Ezekiel would be given the nickname 'Bones' in today's world. The nickname would be based on Ezekiel 37:1-14 in which Ezekiel tells of the LORD taking him to a valley filled with dry bones. The passage goes on to tell of Ezekiel prophesying with the bones rattling and coming together.

A short while later the bones became covered with flesh and skin and ultimately end up breathing.
2. Find the nickname Ehud might be given in this day and age.

Answer: Leftie

Ehud was the left-handed judge of Israel, as per Judges 3:15. Scripture tells of Ehud assassinating Eglon, the king of Moab, who had collected a tribute from the Israelites for a number of years.

According to Scripture, Eglon was obese and Ehud used his left hand to thrust a dagger into his massive belly. See Judges 3:12-30 for complete details.
3. Find the nickname Elisha might be given in this day and age.

Answer: Baldy

It's possible that, in today's world, Elisha would be jokingly called 'Baldy' by his friends. However, using such a nickname in Biblical times had deadly consequences.

2 Kings 2:23-24 in the NKJV tells of a group of youths defiantly telling Elisha "go up, you baldhead!" The passage states Elisha pronounced a curse on them in the name of the LORD, "and two female bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of the youths."

Some commentaries I have read on this incident state the youths had done much more than call Elisha "Baldhead". When they told him to go up, they were basically telling him to cease to exist as Elisha's mentor Elijah had been taken up to heaven in a whirlwind.

In Biblical times, long hair was seen as a sign of strength, and the fact the youths made reference to Elisha's baldness indicates they were proclaiming the man of God did not have any strength.
4. Find the nickname Deborah might be given in this day and age.

Answer: Iron Maiden

It's quite possible Deborah would be referred to as an Iron Maiden in today's world. She was the dynamic female judge of Israel who co-led the nation to a spectacular military victory over the Canaanites, as per Judges 4. At the time, Barak was the leader of Israel's army and it should be stressed that he was unwilling to lead the soldiers into battle unless Deborah was by his side, as per Judges 4:8.
5. Find the nickname Martha might be given in this day and age.

Answer: Ms. Hustle

In today's world, Martha, the sister of Lazarus and Mary, could very well be known as Ms. Hustle. Martha, of course, was industrious while Mary was insightful. No where is this fact more evident than in Luke 10:38-42. The passage tells of Mary sitting at Christ's feet while Martha was busy preparing things for the guests.

When Martha expressed her displeasure to Jesus that Mary was not helping her, she got a response she had not expected. In Verses 41 and 42 in the NKJV, Jesus is quoted as telling her: "Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things.

But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her."
6. Find the nickname Elijah might be given in this day and age.

Answer: The Rainmaker

The Rainmaker is the correct answer. Elijah, of course, was the prophet of God who defiantly told Ahab there would be a prolonged drought in Israel due to the wickedness of the king and his wife Jezebel. The drought came to an abrupt end when Elijah defeated four hundred and fifty prophets of Baal in a showdown on Mount Carmel.

For details about rain descending on the parched countryside, see 1 Kings 18:41-46.
7. Find the nickname Paul might be given in this day and age.

Answer: Unsinkable

Paul survived no less than three shipwrecks, as per 2 Corinthians 11:25. In other words, 'The Unsinkable' Mary Brown had nothing on Paul. Brown, of course, was a noted survivor of the sinking of the Titanic.

Although Paul states he survived three shipwrecks, only one of them is documented in Scripture. Acts 27 and 28 tells of Paul and his entourage being shipwrecked off the coast of Malta.
8. Find the nickname Joseph might be given in this day and age.

Answer: The Dreamer

It's possible Joseph would be known as 'The Dreamer' in today's world. Scripture tells of Joseph having two different dreams in which he would rule over this eleven brothers. Later, after Joseph was sold into slavery by his brothers, Scripture tells of Joseph successfully interpreting two dreams for the Pharaoh. As a result, Joseph would ascend to become the second most powerful man in Egypt.

For more details, see Genesis 37:1-11 and 40:1-22.

It must be pointed out in Genesis 37:19 in the NKJV, Joseph's brothers once referred to him as "this dreamer".
9. Find the nickname Luke might be given in this day and age.

Answer: The Good Doctor

In today's world, Luke could very well be known as The Good Doctor. Luke was a physician and worker in the early church who labored alongside Paul. He is also credited with writing the Gospel of Luke and the Book of Acts. We know Luke was a doctor because in Colossians 4:14 in the NKJV, Paul extends greetings to the Colossians on behalf of Luke "the beloved physician".
10. Find the nickname Eutychus might be given in this day and age.

Answer: Windows

It's highly possible Eutychus would be given the nickname 'Windows' in today's world. Acts 20:7-12 tells of Eutychus falling asleep in a third floor window during one of Paul's sermons and ended up tumbling to the ground. The passage states the people rushed downstairs and after they found Eutychus dead, Paul successfully brought him back to life.
