Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In Leg 1, teams needed to utilize which of these pieces of equipment to complete their Road Block?

Answer: Tightrope

In the first Road Block task of the race, also deemed a 'Canada 150 Challenge' to celebrate the 150th birthday of Canada, teams ended up heading to the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver to complete a tightrope walk with one member of each pair crossing a rope fourteen storeys above Downtown Vancouver. Unlike other seasons, this race only had one Road Block task in the first leg and was followed immediately by a Detour.

The task was completed by Ebonie, Paul, Ryan, Shabbir, Megan, Deb, Ivana, Adam, Dan, and Bert, arriving in Gastown in that order.
2. In Leg 2 in Wood Buffalo, Alberta, teams had the option of finding one of two Express Passes on a rope course.

Answer: False

Not entirely true-- teams had the chance to find three Express Passes, which is the most in any race up to that point in time. To get them, teams had to participate in their second Road Block of the race as per usual, with one member harnessing themselves into a large adventure rope course to search for parts of their next clue.

At the same time, however, they could hang around and locate the three Express Passes. All of them ended up getting found by Kenneth and Ryan, who subsequently kept one and handed the others off to Megan and Courtney and Karen and Bert.
3. The third Road Block of the race was completed in Nelson, B.C. and involved which of these landmarks?

Answer: Bridge

In this task, teams ended up on a British Columbia Highway and one member of each duo had to put on a wetsuit and swing from a big orange bridge into the icy waters of the Kootenay River. Once in the water, they had to swim to a marked buoy to retrieve their next clue and then swim back to the shoreline, fighting the swift current, to reunite with their partner.

The task was taken on by eight racers-- Bert, Zed, Andrea, Sam, Ivana, Ryan, Andrea, and Megan.
4. In which country did teams complete their Road Block task in the fourth Leg of the race?

Answer: China

The fourth leg of the race took place almost entirely in Beijing, China, and teams ended off a length leg of travel and new cultures with a Road Block task. At Ren Yi Tang, a traditional pharmacy in Beijing, team members needed to hop into the apothecary room and using a small recipe written in Mandarin, they needed to locate and weigh out three ingredients scattered amongst hundreds of labeled items in the shop's cabinets. With an eye for detail and a bit of luck, this task was completed by Shabbir, Kenneth, Sam, Adam, Ebonie, Karen, and Korey.
5. Six people participated in the RCMP Road Block task in Ottawa in Leg 6.

Answer: True

Leg 6 only saw six teams remaining in the race, and with no Express Passes remaining and no Fast Forward in play, it meant that all six teams needed to participate in the task. For this one, teams needed to join the RCMP and learn how to get ready for the Musical Ride at the RCMP Stables.

After cleaning and tacking their horses, they could saddle up and ride out with the men and women of the force to collect their next clue. Ryan, Andrea, Korey, Adam, Karen, and Paul were the team members who joined in on this task.
6. In Leg 7, team members competing in the Road Block were heckled with which of these?

Answer: Vegetables

Leg 7's Road Block was certainly unconventional, and it was one that tested team members' nerves and memories. For this task, teams visited Swirsky's Theatre and Music Hall in Corner Brook, Newfoundland, and Sam, Andrea, Kenneth, Bert, Ivana, and Ebonie needed to memorize twelve of fifty provided jokes to perform a stand-up comedy routine for a crowd of patrons. If they failed to recite their jokes properly, they would be booed off the stage, told to practice, and have vegetables tossed at them.

After the task, teams could head directly to the next Pit Stop.
7. In Leg 8, team members completing the Road Block in Panama city had to find Kuna women and match which of these?

Answer: Their dress patterns

In Leg 8, teams arrived in Casco Viejo for a detail-oriented Road Block. For this task, the participants needed to select a specifically-designed mola and then search the streets around them for a Kuna woman wearing that traditional garment. When they found the correct woman they could bring them back to the original kiosk on the seawall and trade her in for their next clue. Karen, Adam, Paul, Ryan, and Korey completed this task, flipping the standings around entirely by the end.
8. How many bees did team members need to locate during the Road Block in Saskatchewan in Leg 9?

Answer: One

Outside of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, teams ended up visiting an apiary for their buzzing Road Block task. For this one, the selected team members needed to look through massive honeycombs to find the single queen bee of each set. The task, a near literal needle-in-a-haystack challenge, required keen eyes to find the right bee.

The task was completed by Kenneth, Bert, Sam, Ivana, and Andrea before everyone made their way to the Pit Stop.
9. In the penultimate leg of the race in Sault Ste. Marie, team members needed to count which of these during the Road Block?

Answer: Cockroaches

In the second-to-last leg of the race, teams traveled to Entomica in Sault Ste. Marie where teams got up close and personal with cockroaches. One team member would inadvertently end up with a head full of roaches while their partners, the ones who volunteered to take on the task, would be on the outside looking in and counting out the totals of four different types of bugs crawling around. Sam, Ivana, Kenneth, and Karen counted the bugs and completed the Road Block task while Paul, Korey, Ryan, and Bert had to sit with the roaches.
10. How many Road Blocks did teams encounter in the final leg of the race?

Answer: Two

In the final leg of the race, the final three teams flew to Quebec City, starting with a Road Block atop Montmorency Falls (involving a cargo net climb) and eventually climbing up the side of the city's tallest building, Édifice Marie-Guyart for the second. Because Paul, Ryan, and Korey completed the first Road Block, it was necessary for Sam, Kenneth, and Ivana to complete the second, ensuring a fair balance of tasks throughout the entire competition. Ultimately, one of the final team members would have six tasks and one would have five since there was no Road Block in Thailand and two in the final leg.
