Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Before heading to Thailand in Leg 5, teams visited a deli in which of these Chinese cities?

Answer: Shanghai

Continuing immediately upon arriving at the Pit Stop at the end of Leg 4, teams were told to head directly to the train station to catch a high-speed train to Shanghai, China, equalizing them before starting the tasks of Leg 5 proper. In Shanghai, teams needed to make their way to Tock's Montreal Style Deli for a taste of home, and there, after saying the Mandarin line they learned at the Great Wall, they received a clue directing them to a completely different destination; they needed to fly from Shanghai to Bangkok, Thailand where they could await their next clue at the Caturday Café.
2. The bulk of the race's fifth leg took place in what Thai city?

Answer: Bangkok

A trip to Bangkok brought teams to the Caturday Café where they received their next clue. This told teams to make their way to a water taxi to navigate the river from Pier 2 at the Yodpiman Riverwalk all the way to Wat Khuha Sawan Pier. There, they found the Artist's House, a local stage, Donning outfits and learning how to operate a traditional Thai puppet, they needed to perform in front of an audience in silence to get their next clue.
3. Which team won the race's only Fast Forward in Leg 5?

Answer: Adam and Andrea

In Leg 5, teams reaching the Caturday Café were also greeted with the appearance of a Fast Forward task, allowing one team to skip all tasks in the leg and proceed directly to the next Pit Stop. For this task, participants needed to make their way by taxi to the National Stadium in Bangkok where they had to learn how to play hoop takraw, a sport played with feet involving kicking a ball into a suspended net. If the team could kick the ball back and forth once before scoring a goal, they could collect the Fast Forward clue.

The task was completed by Adam and Andrea.
4. In the 'Shred It' Detour task in Thailand in Leg 5, teams needed to use which of these?

Answer: Surfboard

After the teams completed their puppet shows, they needed to choose their Detour task for this leg-- either 'Bling It' or 'Shred It'. In 'Bling It', completed by Karen and Bert, Korey and Ivana, and Zed and Shabbir, teams needed to find a model tuk-tuk outside Wat Ratchanatdaram and determine the items they needed to purchase to outfit one of their own.

Then, they had to go to two different markets to purchase the items (with their own money). When they properly outfitted the vehicle they could continue.

In 'Shred It', teams instead went to the Flow House where they hopped onto surfboards and rode simulated waves to retrieve a flag to be traded for their clue. Andrea and Ebonie, Sam and Paul, and Kenneth and Ryan finished this one.
5. Which team was eliminated at the end of Leg 5 in Thailand?

Answer: Zed and Shabbir

At the end of this fifth leg, teams were told to find the courtyard of the Wat Thewarat Kunchorn Worawihan Temple in Bangkok. Adam and Andrea, who won the Fast Forward clue, ended up jetting ahead of everyone else for their first victory of the race.

They ended up receiving a trip for two to both Thailand and China courtesy of Sinorama Tours. At the end of the leg, Zed and Shabbir ended up getting eliminated when they repeatedly failed to complete the puppet show and then continued to struggle during the 'Shred It' Detour task.

They placed seventh overall.
6. Leg 6 of the race took teams back to Canada, flying them to what province?

Answer: Ontario

In Leg 6, teams were told to return to Canada, stopping in at the nation's capital-- Ottawa, Ontario. To get there, teams needed to fly from Bangkok, Thailand and then through Hong Kong and Toronto. Upon landing in Ottawa, the teams needed to head to Ottawa's City Hall to meet the mayor, Jim Watson, who would give them their next clue in front of the Ottawa 2017 Cauldron. Following this, teams headed to Hog's Back Falls to pick up their vehicle for this leg of the race-- a 'True North Edition' 2018 Chevrolet Equinox.

But to get it, teams needed to park a series of Chevrolet vehicles using surround-vision technology to spell out a letter in the word CANADA.
7. The Road Block task in Ottawa in Leg 6 had team members working with which of these types of animals?

Answer: Horses

After visiting Hog's Back Falls, teams needed to choose a team member to participate in a Road Block task at the RCMP Stables. There, the team member who was 'ready to let it ride' needed to properly clean a horse in its stable, then correctly attach the horse's saddle.

Then, they needed to don proper outfit and join the RCMP Musical Ride to get their next clue. Ryan, Andrea, Korey, Adam, Karen, and Paul participated in this task, getting their hands dirty in the process.
8. All six teams racing in Leg 6 completed the 'Tiptoe Through the Tulips' Detour option.

Answer: True

In a rare instance, all teams took up the same option, heading to Commissioner's Park after the Road Block to complete 'Tiptoe Through the Tulips', a task celebrating Ottawa's tulip festival which had them create tulip carts and fill them with ten different tulips scattered through the park. Teams instead could've headed to the Canada Council Art Bank for 'Get the Picture', which had them search through the catalogues of the bank and locate ten specific works of art. Teams went into this task knowing that a Double U-Turn would lie ahead.
9. Which team was U-Turned in Ottawa in Leg 6?

Answer: Andrea and Ebonie

After the Detour, teams needed to find the Beaver Tails stall in ByWard Market to reach the U-Turn board. There, Sam and Paul U-Turned Kenneth and Ryan while Korey and Ivana U-Turned Andrea and Ebonie, forcing both teams to complete the 'Get the Picture' Detour option.

After this stop was made, teams had to make their way to Gatineau, Quebec to find a clue in the Canadian History Hall, also known as The Hub in the Canadian Museum of History. There, after studying the exhibits, they would need to complete a standard Canadian Citizenship Test in a Canada 150 Challenge. If each team member scored a passing grade (15/20, or 75%), they would get their next clue.
10. Which team was last to arrive at the Pit Stop in Gatineau at the end of Leg 6?

Answer: Andrea and Ebonie

After completing their Citizenship Tests, the six racing teams were instructed to find Jon at the next Pit Stop on the museum's uppermost terrace overlooking the Ottawa River and the nation's capital. There, because they passed their tests, each team was able to take the Oath of Citizenship with the Senior Citizenship Judge of Canada to reaffirm their citizenship. Adam and Andrea won their second consecutive leg of the race, in turn receiving a trip for two to five different Canadian cities. After falling behind and being U-Turned, Andrea and Ebonie were last to arrive at the Pit Stop, but were spared once more, this time with the first of only two official non-elimination legs.

They were told that a Speed Bump would be waiting in Leg 7.
