Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. One of this actor's first feature films co-starred him and Yul Brynner as two of the title characters in "The Brothers Karamazov" (1958).

Answer: William Shatner

An impressive film, it was only nominated for one Academy Award (Best Supporting Actor - Lee J. Cobb).
2. This actor played a Martian named "Narab" in the movie serial "Zombies of the Stratosphere" (1952).

Answer: Leonard Nimoy

Very campy story, difficult to sit through all three hours at once. Ironically, this was a story about Martians from Mars, not Zombies from the Stratosphere.
3. She played Billy Crystal's supposedly ill-fated ex-wife in "Throw Momma From The Train" (1987).

Answer: Kate Mulgrew

Owen (Danny DeVito) supposedly killed Larry's (Billy Crystal) ex-wife as a favor so that Larry would similarly off Owen's mother. In the end, it turns out that Owen didn't do the deed.
4. "Quantum Leap" episode "Good Night, Dear Heart - November 9, 1957" starred and guest starred these two future regular "Star Trek" actors.

Answer: Scott Bakula and Robert Duncan McNeill

A murder mystery episode: Bakula was (of course) Dr. Beckett, leapt into the life of a coroner investigating the murder of a young German woman. McNeill played the woman's fiance.
5. He co-starred with Robert Urich on "Spenser for Hire".

Answer: Avery Brooks

He went on to star in a short-lived spin off "A Man Called Hawk".
6. He was in Irish author Roddy Doyle's "Barrytown Trilogy" of movies "The Commitments" (1991), "The Snapper" (1993), and "The Van" (1996).

Answer: Colm Meaney

The films were all supposed to revolve around the Rabbitte family. But 20th Century Fox owned the film rights to the name after producing "The Commitments", so the characters' names were changed for the subsequent movies.
7. She was a "Muppeteer" for Jim Henson prior to working in "Star Trek".

Answer: Gates McFadden

She also choreographed the ballroom scene in the Jim Henson film "Labyrinth" (1986).
8. These two actresses finished in the top 5 in separate "Miss America" pageants.

Answer: Lee Meriwether and Jeri Lynn Ryan

Lee Meriwether (CA) won the contest in 1955. Jeri Lynn Ryan (IL) came in 4th in 1990.
9. All of these actors provided voices to the "Gargoyles" series except:

Answer: Patrick Stewart

Other "Star Trek" actors providing voices were: Marina Sirtis, Nichelle Nichols, Avery Brooks, Kate Mulgrew, Brent Spiner, LeVar Burton, and Paul Winfield.
10. He played Gurney Halleck in "Dune" (1984).

Answer: Patrick Stewart

One of the more weird movies I've ever seen.
