She went there to tell him that the strange phone call they'd gotten that morning had been traced back to a pay phone by Groom Lake. However, as she walked down the hall, she saw Kersh's assistant get kissed in the doorway and then waltz past her down the hall. Morris explained the woman's visit as "just a little lunch break."

Morris said he didn't want to follow up on the phone call, and Scully was understandably confused. She seemed to really go over the edge when Morris asked her, "Are you out of your pretty little mind?" Seething, she replied, "Am I out of my mind? Mulder, you are out of your mind! What is up with you?! I'm thinking about having you examined for mental illness or-or drug use or... Or maybe a massive head injury!" Morris reminded her that they were off the X-Files, and Scully promptly left the apartment.

Answer: lizard and rock

The rock was where the lizard's head should have been, but the tail and legs were still moving, though somewhat weakly. Howard explained that "A lizard and a rock existing in the same time and space" could be the result of a tear in the time-space continuum.

When she arrived at the gas station where the call had originated just that morning, it was a shell of a structure, having been blown up by the soldiers. She bent down and picked something out of the debris, which turned out to be the tip Mulder had left earlier, fused into a single four-sided coin.

She used her foot to pop up the recliner Mulder was sleeping in and announced, "This is not a marriage. It's a farce." She went on to complain, "You're not attracted to me anymore. I disgust you, don't I?"

Answer: "Does Scully sound like a woman's name to you?"

Joanne didn't seem particularly appeased, but at least moved on to a different subject. When Scully came to the door a few minutes later, though, her anger was again piqued, and she slapped Mulder's smiling face.

Answer: They have that pill now

Mulder, trying to be sensitive to Joanne's feelings, explained, "My point is that there are a lot of things you don't know about me. And... I've just... I've been under a lot of pressure lately. I mean, up is down and black is white. I don't know where I stand anymore. I don't even know... who I am really anymore. I just... I know for sure that I am not the man you married. I'm just not. And I'm sorry. I'm truly sorry." Joanne misunderstood, though, and assumed Mulder meant he had erectile dysfunction.

As she went to answer the door, Joanne assured Mulder that they could "make this work." Once she had turned away, Mulder's mouth opened in a silent scream of fake joy that was one of those priceless Mulder moments!

Answer: bee pollen

Desperate for her to believe him, Mulder told her, "I'm Mulder. I'm really Mulder. I switched bodies, places, identities with this man Morris Fletcher the man that you think is Mulder, but he's not." Seeing his reflection (as Morris) in the car window, Mulder continued, "Of course you don't believe me. Why was I expecting anything different? Your full name is Dana Katherine Scully. He's in the Navy and he hates me. Lately, for lunch, you've been having this six-ounce cup of yogurt, plain yogurt, into which you stir bee pollen because you're on a bee pollen kick even though I tell you you're a scientist and you should know better." Scully remained dubious, though, and claimed that "any of that information could have been gathered by anyone." Mulder was both exasperated and relieved, saying, "Even that yogurt thing? That is so you. That is so Scully. Well, it's good to know you haven't changed. That's somewhat comforting."

Answer: Morris Fletcher

After seeing Mulder talking to Scully at his house, Morris called Howard to name himself (and thereby Mulder as Morris) as the culprit.

Answer: service station

Before he had a chance to give her the evidence, though, soldiers burst in on them and arrested Mulder. Scully had been forced to comply with the set-up by Kersh. As he was being pulled away, Mulder yelled desperately, "He's not me, Scully! Would I do this?! [...] Scully, he's not me! He's not me! Scully! He's not me!"
