Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which area in the "Super Metroid" game has the fewest Save Points?

Answer: Wrecked Ship

The game gives its player lots of places to save the game, and every area has at least one. The single Save Point in the Wrecked Ship area is only useable after you defeat Phantoon. So, upon entering the room and seeing the gloomy pod, don't waste your time stepping in. Go defeat the boss and return life to this otherwise dreary place.
2. If you decide to take out a Kago using Power Bombs, how many will it take?

Answer: Four

Kago is the grounded bug hive that emits leaping bugs once it is attacked. The funny thing about this enemy is, you can destroy it by simply shooting it. Yet, if you use Power Bombs, you'll need to use four bombs to get rid of this housing.
3. Is the following statement true of false? I killed a Fireflea with my Grapple Beam.

Answer: False

The Firefleas are those circling bugs that provide light in some dark places. Encounter them on the way to getting the X-Ray Scope, and as you're collecting the Energy Tank deep in Norfair. Bumping into them will extinguish their light yet the powerful Grapple Beam has no effect on them.
4. Which of the following can't be killed with Power Bombs?

Answer: Oum

The Oum can't be killed with anything. They are those nautilus type creatures that you'll run into in Maridia. You can find them by entering a secret passage located in the lower right corner of the vertical room with three Mochtroids; the room comes up after defeating Botwoon. These critters can only be pushed out of your way, so don't waste ammo on them.
5. What section has two Super Missiles?

Answer: Wrecked Ship

The Wrecked Ship is an extremely small area in comparison to the rest of planet Zebes. As small as it is however, it holds a wealth of items, including two Super Missiles. The ship is reported to be all that remains of a group of astronauts from an ancient civilization that crash landed on planet Zebes.
6. Remove rock impediments, kill left over enemies, and speed jump straight up from a lava bed. What is your reward?

Answer: Regular Missiles

This spot in the game, located in Norfair is one of a few places where you could absolutely miss a set of regular Missiles. I know I have missed them on more than one occasion. If you're like me and always go for a 100% file completion, you'll want to get this set of Missiles.
7. It is possible to play the entire game without interacting with the Tatori.

Answer: True

In fact you might not know it's there except for seeing a tiny portion of green as you spin ahead. The Tatori is that turtle lying on the seabed with little Tatori nestled around it. You can Space Jump into the room to get the Energy Tank then continue on to the right wall for the Missiles; from there Space Jump off the floor and right over the Tatori. You can't kill it anyway, so why bother interacting with it.
8. When you first enter the Wrecked Ship's body, how many things can be destroyed for replacement energy cells?

Answer: Two

Interesting place, this Wrecked Ship. It is a ghostly reminder of space travel. Phantoon has sucked the life right out of the entire ship. You think you're alone when suddenly this thing with what looks like three heads materializes. It is called Coven and can be killed over and over if you need energy or item refills. Also, there is something hatching near the green portal that leads to the lowest level of the Wrecked Ship. What on earth can this be? It resembles the glob that you encounter on the way to collecting the Plasma Beam.

These can also be killed for energy and items.
9. Samus is sort of a galactic "Batman". How many Power-ups is Samus equiped with?

Answer: Fourteen

Our galactic heroine is equiped with everything needed to be a one woman wrecking crew. Let's not forget, she's a bounty hunter, so she needs all the skills and devices that she can get. Samus Aran is equiped with five beams, two suits, three boot moves and four miscellaneous items.
10. Tourian doesn't have a Reserve Tank. What other area of Zebes doesn't have a Reserve Tank?

Answer: Crateria

The four Reserve Tank are all located in different areas of the planet. None of the six areas have two tanks. The one in Maridia is annoying to collect, but worth it if you have trouble defeating Mother Brain.
11. Which of the following cannot be destroyed?

Answer: Worker Robots

These robots can only be found in the Wrecked Ship area and are totally indestructible. The ship was said to have been a laboratory, so perhaps the robots were the crew supported by the three scientist that now compose the ghostly Coven. They were obviously advanced as a race to invent these robots.
12. The Grapple Beam can attach you to four things in the "Super Metroid" game.

Answer: False

Found in Norfair, the Grapple Beam allows you to transport yourself over impediments such a lava, and spikes. It acts as a suction device that clamps onto specific things allowing you to propel yourself forward. It will clamp onto two block types and two creatures. The beam will also attach to those power nodes thar fire at you in the room with Draygon.

13. How many types of Obstacle Blocks can be found while playing "Super Metroid"?

Answer: Seven

The blocks are classified as obstacles in the game. There are 15 types of obstacles in "Super Metroid". These include two Panel Gates, five Color Doors, the Guardian Door at the entrance of each boss lair, and of course the seven Block Obstacles. The blocks are, Speed Booster, Super Missile, Power Bombs, Crumbling, Crunbled, Crumbling Hook, and Hook Blocks.
14. What is the name of those snail-like creatures in Maridia?

Answer: Yard

The Choots are those creatures lying flat in Maridia that jump straight up, flatten in mid-air and drift down. The Zero are the critters that look and move like worms. They can even divest themselves of their shells. Bulls are those zooming discs that come at you in the watery rooms of the Wrecked Ship.
15. I beat the game without playing Kraid. Is that a true or false statement?

Answer: False

It's absolutely false! In order to get to Tourian you must unlock the gateway. The gateway is a compilation statue located deep in Crateria. It is comprised of the four main bosses: Kraid - Phantoon - Draygon - Ridley. You cannot enter Tourian without having defeated all four of these bosses.
