Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which of these can not be eaten in "Pac-Man"?

Answer: Banana

Created by Namco in 1979, "Pac-Man" defined a generation of gamers and was later renowned as one of the greatest games ever created. Pac-Man travels around the maze collecting pellets and fruits for points, and occasionally, when he eats a Power Pellet, he can devour the four ghosts of the game: Inky, Pinky, Blinky, and Clyde. Pac-Man has spawned numerous sequels and recreations over the years, and created a defining female character in the industry- Ms. Pac-Man.

The two gave birth to Baby Pac-Man in 1982.
2. Which "Star Wars" video game series was found on the Nintendo Gamecube?

Answer: Rogue Squadron

"Star Wars: Rogue Squadron" first appeared on the Nintendo 64, where it was regarded as a moderately popular flight-sim title. Although it wasn't the first game on the console (it was preceded by "Shadows of the Empire"), its sequel, "Rogue Squadron" was one of the earlier Gamecube titles. "Rebel Strike" was later released on the Gamecube as well due to the success of the first sequel.

The games follow Luke Skywalker and Wedge Antilles.
3. Which of these is not a Covenant unit in the first "Halo" game?

Answer: Drone

The Drone (along with the Brute) was not introduced until the game's sequel, "Halo 2", in 2004. Both of these games are on the Xbox console, though they can be played on the 360 and PC. Aside from the alien Covenant, the player (as Master Chief) also battles The Flood, a race of alien creatures that mutate into deadly creatures that could wipe out entire populations.

The Flood also appears in the first two games. Their first appearance was half-way through "Halo 1", and they were responsible for killing Captain Keyes in the end of the game on the Truth and Reconciliation.
4. Which of these was the final boss in the first Kirby game, "Kirby's Dream Land"?

Answer: King Dedede

The very first Kirby game was released in 1992 and was created by HAL Laboratories (the same people that created the "Pokemon" N64 games such as "Snap" and "Stadium" and the "Super Smash Bros."). Since this debut game, Kirby has gone on to star in numerous sequels, and even his own TV show, "Right Back At Ya!" "Dream Land" featured many characteers that can be seen throughout the entire series including Waddle Dee and Whispy Woods.
5. Which "Dance Dance Revolution" title was released on the Xbox 360?

Answer: Dance Dance Revolution: Universe

"Dance Dance Revolution" has become a very popular game, and has become an arcade staple in various locations around the globe. Sony got a hold of the idea to bring the system to the Playstation in the late nineties. Over the years, "Dance Dance Revolution" has been released on nearly every later console (Gamecube, the Xboxes, the Playstations).

Many famous artists often get their work placed into the game. "Hottest Party" is for Wii, "Supernova" is on PS2 and arcade, and "Ultramix" is on the Xbox.
6. Which PC game created by Rand Miller was the top-selling computer game until its title was overtaken by "The Sims"?

Answer: Myst

"Myst" was met with mixed reactions. On one hand, the game was fueled by top-notch graphics (as does every one of its sequels), but on the other hand it was confusing and there was no action- after all, it was a riddle based game. Regardless, the game was surprisingly popular until 2000, when its sales were surpassed by "The Sims".

In the game, the player is in the role of 'The Stranger', who must determine whether or not (and how) to free Atrus' two sons, Sirrus and Achenar from their prison books.
7. Which game was not initially released on the Xbox 360?

Answer: Nightcaster

The Xbox 360 hit the shelves in November 2005, and it was the first seventh-generation system to be released. Since then, the system has been released as a Core Pack, a Premium Pack, and an Elite console, each with a larger hard drive and more enhanced HD capabilities than the last.

By the time the Elite arrived, it was nearly as expensive as the Playstation 3, which was partially known for its extravagant cost. "Nightcaster" was released on the original Xbox console and was followed by a sequel, "Equinox", which featured a multiplayer version of the game.

They were released in December 2001 and 2002 respectively. The other three titles were released within the first two years of the Xbox 360's run.
8. Who is the antagonist is the first "Clock Tower" video game?

Answer: Scissorman

"Clock Tower" was first released in 1995 for the SNES and it once again dwelled on the survival horror concept which had just been springing into action on the consoles. The game follows the idea that a character, played by the player, is being chased by a man carrying a rather large pair of scissors. Losing friends along the way is somewhat necessary, but if you happen to save a few others, then your game will end on a better note. Various sequels have been made in the series.
9. What is the name of the player character in "Pikmin"?

Answer: Olimar

"Pikmin", released on the Gamecube was an exceptionally popular title that was able to generate a sequel due to its buzz. The unique game follows Olimar, who has crash landed on an eerie planet (that is oddly similar to Earth in many ways...especially in "Pikmin 2" when you're picking up Duracell Batteries). By sprouting Pikmin and collecting thirty parts of your ship, you can safely lift off before your thirty days of oxygen are depleted.

This doesn't mean that all pieces are needed though! Olimar may not so deply require that massage machine after all! Three Pikmin (red, blue, and yellow) were in the first game while the sequel introduced two more and a new player character.
10. Which character, known as Catherine in Japan, first appeared in "Super Mario Bros. 2" (also known as "Doki Doki Panic")?

Answer: Birdo

Birdo seemed to transcend the Mario series in the decades following her debut in the second "Super Mario Bros." game for the NES. Since then, Birdo has flip-flopped back and forth between enemy and friend and has often become a playable character. Such an instance first occurred in the N64 game "Mario Tennis". Birdo/Catherine's gender is often debatable, as on various occasions, the character refers to itself as a guy.
