The lynx (Lynx lynx) is the national animal in Romania and Serbia. The lynx is a feline and comprises a few different species including the bobcat, Canadian, Iberian and Eurasian lynx.

Romania is a country in Europe which falls in between Central, Southeastern and Eastern Europe. Romania's closest neighbours are Serbia, Moldova, Hungary, Bulgaria and the Ukraine. The lynx is not the only national animal. It also counts the auroch (extinct wild bovine) and the Dacian Draco which is a standard taken up by the ancient Dacian people. It has the head of a dragon with wolf jaws and multiple metal tongues.

Papua New Guinea is an island country in the Oceania region in the Pacific Ocean. The country occupies the eastern half of the island of New Guinea. It achieved independence from Australia in 1949.

The dugong (Dugong dugon) is a gentle marine mammal, of the order Sirenia. Included in this order is the manatee. The dugong is a herbivore which feeds on sea grass. The International Union for Conservation of Nature has listed the dugong as being vulnerable to extinction. It is not the only national animal of Papua New Guinea which includes the Raggiana bird-of-paradise too.

The dolphin is the national animal of Greece, representing the Greek god Delphinus. "Delphinus" is, strangely, the Latin name for dolphin. The national bird of Greece is the phoenix. It is one of many countries to include mythical beasts as their national animals.

Greece is situated at the southernmost tip of the Balkan peninsula. Its coastline is made up of the Ionian, Aegean, Cretan and Mediterranean Seas and has a number of islands (between 1200 and 6000) of which just over 200 are populated.

Bangladesh is bordered by India to the west and Myanmar to the east and occupies roughly the same area of what used to be known as East Bengal. West Bengal is an area which is part of India. India's national bird is the peacock, the national reptile is the king cobra, the national aquatic animal is the Ganges river dolphin and the national heritage animal is the Indian elephant.

The resplendent quetzal (Pharomachrus mocinno) is a beautifully colourful bird which is found from southern Mexico through to western Panama. Mythically, it was considered divine by the Mesoamerican people, primarily associated with the snake god Quetzalcoatl. The resplendent quetzal has Near Threatened status by the International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources.

Guatemala is a Central American country, surrounded by Mexico to the west and north and by Honduras, El Salvador and Belize to the east.

South Africa is a country at the southern most tip of the African continent. It borders both the Indian and Atlantic oceans and is rated as the 25th largest country in the world by land mass. Some prominent landmarks in the country, are Table Mountain in the city of Cape Town on the west coast as well as one of the largest open pit diamond mine in the city of Kimberley in the north of the country.

The springbok (Antidorcas marsupialis) is a medium-sized antelope found primarily in southern Africa. It was named for its tendency to leap up to two metres in the air every few paces. The national bird is the blue crane and national fish is the Galjoen.

Thailand is an Asian country centrally located on the Indochinese Peninsula, bordered by Myanmar and Laos to the north, Laos and Cambodia to the east and Malaysia to the south.

The Asian elephant (Elephas maximus) of which the Indian (Elephas maximus indicus), Sri Lankan (Elephas maximus maximus) and Sumatran (Elephas maximus sumatranus) are all subspecies, has been listed as endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources.

Answer: Unicorn

The Welsh dragon is referred to as "Y Ddraig Goch" in Welsh, which translates to "The Red Dragon" and appears on the flag of Wales. It was officially recognised as the Welsh national animal in 1959.

Scotland has the unicorn as a national animal. The royal coat of arms of Scotland has two unicorns supporting the crest. The royal coat of arms of the United Kingdom has a single unicorn for Scotland and a lion for England.

Sri Lanka in Southeast Asia is an island country with the Indian Ocean to the south, the Bay of Bengal to the southwest and separated from India by the Gulf of Mannar.

The Sri Lankan junglefowl (Gallus lafayettii) is unique to Sri Lanka. The chicken was domesticated from the red junglefowl (Gallus gallus) which is closely related to Sri Lankan junglefowl. The other two junglefowl in the genus Gallus are the grey junglefowl (Gallus sonneratii) and green junglefowl (Gallus varius).

No official national animal has been chosen for Sri Lanka, but the country has a national bird and a national butterfly, the Sri Lankan birdwing (Troides darsius).

Turkey is a transcontinental country split between Asia and Europe. The city of Istanbul is situated over the Bosphorus strait which separates Europe and Asia. Eight countries border Turkey and it falls between the Aegean Sea, the Black Sea, the Mediterranean Sea, the Bosphorus Straight, the Sea of Marmara, and the Dardanelles. Collectively, the last three form the Turkish Straits.

The grey wolf (Canis lupus lupus), is specifically known as the Eurasian wolf or Middle Russian forest wolf. It is the largest of the grey wolves in Europe, reaching as much as 69-80 kg (152-176 lb) in weight.
